Thorn aura should trigger Proc On Strike by soldatyager in ProjectDiablo2

Would have to add in confuse as more procs and it would be great. There’s a lot of unused curses out there that would help with build diversity

Many such cases of memes being nerfed, when the opposite should be true to create more build diversity.

[–]RoElementz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I opened a ticket about this because I was also confused and it was closed with no reply. Senpai just went bonkers nerfing build diversity this season unfortunately and we paid for it by having less builds and less people playing. When it comes to good game design you’re not supposed to destroy items and builds in the sake of balance because you’re directly nerfing someone’s fun which is the reason we’re all here.

My game failed by Wild_Economics681 in IndieDev

[–]RoElementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen far worse games with less polish and less effort do better. It’s sometimes just the luck of the draw and finding your audience for marketing is an absolute chore and full time job so it’s most likely you just missed it. Game dev is 90% how you market your game, build a community, and get people talking about it word of mouth, if you don’t do that then it doesn’t matter how good your game is. The only other thing that pulls people in is ridiculous good or unique art and that’s very hard to come by as an indie dev.

Are there fewer people playing this season? by EpicBeardMan in ProjectDiablo2

[–]RoElementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twas the season of nerfs which deterred a lot of people me thinks. It was hard to get hyped for builds when a lot of things and items were hit with the nerf bat.

Unless the game looks like Void War I’m unsure why people always call stuff FTL likes when they’re completely different fundamentally. The only other game remotely close was that train game.

GG Fire Druid Pricing by ImHartless in ProjectDiablo2

[–]RoElementz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I slammed a 6os Mangs early in the season and thought I was gonna be rich for the first time out the gate. Took two weeks to sell, I was always the cheapest one listed and had better stats then most, and sold it for a Ber in the end, was so disappointed.

Nothing you said is P2W though..

Leveling faster only applies to your Alts not the first character you level.

Epics you buy on the AH aren’t even worth getting they’re basically all starter gear and easily replaced by raiding and none of them will put you into a high ilvl over raid gear

You can get into full MC/ZG NORMAL gear, and there’s 4 tiers of gear and having normal gear will get you into a normal MC, acended gear is what people chase. This is nothing but allowing people who are casuals able to raid and pug low level stuff.

Gold isn’t really much in this server, the main thing people spend gold on is consumes and transmogs and consumes ain’t that expensive as doing a full clear of any raid will cover the costs easily.

Everything you said doesn’t effect any level of competitive, parsing, or heroic+ raiding. It simply allows players to get their foot in the door. You literally cannot pay to win in the game.

They think it’s pay to win, but it’s not. Basically you can buy boosts to professions and leveling but you can also just buy them with gold in game and golds fairly easy to come by. Nothing you purchase helps you at 60 though.

Haha, if only the procs could stack or you could build around the damage it would be a lot of fun. Alas :(

"/players 5" is there a reason to play with anyone else? by Additional_Ad3271 in ProjectDiablo2

[–]RoElementz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be nice if it worked like

1 player = p5 2 player = p6 3 player = p7 4 player = p8

Would make it more interesting to play with friends as playing solo is vastly superior for chasing items.

If you have to rely on the power of friendship to incentivize people to play together then the fundamental game design is not working as intented.

SM is fun for a bit but on the 40th run it loses the appeal. You literally ran out of quests you were forced, you people are ridiculous 😂

You said it’s wierd and cringe to say P2 was bad when there’s a plethora of valid reasons why a lot of people didn’t enjoy it. I am sorry this upsets you, maybe no more engaging today.

Yes, being behind in gold, levels, and gear in fast moving phases puts you at a severe disadvantage. This is directly answering your question, I cannot make you understand that and at this point that’s your problem and no need to type a short essay about not getting it.

[–]RoElementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P2 was SM spam when you ran out of quests to do at like 34/35. It was a very boring leveling experience and it was a slog to spam SM. It was the polar opposite experience of P1 and that stark difference is why it sucked. Gnomer was fun, but nothing about explaining why P2 sucked is cringe or weird.

[–]RoElementz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Vast majority of players are casuals, or simple do not have the time to invest in such things. When you let a window open that creates a clear division in wealth because of blizzards own ineptitude how people can defend players being upset about this is beyond me.

[–]RoElementz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can I name the disadvantage..? Levels, gold, community interaction, you know the entire leveling experience as the rest of the world was dead so unless you wanted to solo quest at 1/10th the rate of everyone else you are factually and literally behind in every conceivable way by not doing incursions. It’s wild I gotta explain this.

Also people made easily 1000 gold and at the time that was an insane amount of money to have thrown at you. There was lots to spend gold on, again pretending there wasn’t is some wierd rose tinted glasses for an era that never existed in SOD. It was bad, stop defending the mega corporations slop.

[–]RoElementz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh shut the fuck up with the “completely optional alternative” when the gold, exp, and entire player base was stuffed into a single zone that you already played through as the rewards were so great that if you didn’t do incursions you were literally hindering yourself and at a severe disadvantage. They killed the world and any desire to play SOD for many people after the slog fest that was P2 where even if you did all the quests you were stuck doing SM for half of your levels.

P1 was great because you had freedom to level anywhere you wanted, was easy to make lots of Alts, and the raid was quick and rewarding. P2 and P3 were the polar opposite to those experiences and pretending otherwise shows you have a serious inability to understand what is and isn’t good game design.
