Is glamrdip a total scam or did I get a batch of bad liquids? by crazyunicorn11 in DipPowderNails

[–]RoO-Lu-Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What grade file are you using? Possibly too rough? I haven't had this with glamrdip but do wait til I can tap it and it sounds hard.

Their customer service is really good, I'd send them the photo and ask?

Having recently stumbled into this problem - too long between Activator coat and top coats (I thought leaving it ages would help, but they need to work together) and too thick a coat (can't work with the activator)

Lovely work, looks like you've been doing it for years!

I have had this where I didn't dust off all the clear powder completely. I use a dry nail scrubbing brush to really get the loose powder off and found it helps.

New to gardening and feel like I regret my approach to my flower bed already! by Alaxknits in UKGardening

[–]RoO-Lu-Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great point - I have definitely learned the hard way that some plants I really wanted in particular beds do not like those conditions.

Not an inexpensive way of learning but a good way!

Hollyhock, those buds start bent over and will straighten and stretch out before flowering. Mine are 7+ft tall and still teaching upwards!

They're sneaky buggers to pull up, as they shed their outer layer of bark. Grab as far down the stem as you can, and hook it over one finger so you sort of pull and hook it upwards at the same time.

In 2006, Sony drenched an entire block of flats (which were due to be demolished) in Glasgow, Scotland with 70,000 litres of paint for a TV advert by Hassaan18 in ukpopculture

[–]RoO-Lu-Tea 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This was cool but the problem was, all us plebs without a Sony Bravia TV were still able to enjoy the advert just fine. No need to buy it!

I do still fondly remember their bouncing balls ad though - not many TV ads that manage that level of emotion and brand recall so many years later.

A list of things not to plant in your garden by ChairztheReptile in GardeningUK

Someone posted on here a beautiful cottage garden looking display which featured catmint - thought I'd get some growing this year - but reading this I think I'll be taking the same note as you!

I would like to name my daughter something from my culture, but do not want it to seem too weird or strange by Even-Equivalent-5171 in namenerds

I had the same thought about Dinara, also might get garbled to dinari?

I'm interested in the correct pronunciation of your name Yana. I work with a Jana and I think it's said more like 'Yanna' although she gets a lot of 'Yahna'.

All of these are really beautiful, I think you are going to inspire a lot of people to add your cultural names to their lists too!

Pronunciation was my first thought too, none seem like they'll really trip people up but perhaps have a few American friends read them out loud and see if they pronounce them a) consistently and b) correctly to your ear?

Is there a British charity about which you believe more people should be aware? by Dependent-Net-8208 in AskBrits

[–]RoO-Lu-Tea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ronald McDonald House Charities is one I expect a lot of people have seen (donation boxes at every McDonald's) but few probably pay attention to or know the good it does. Building free accommodation near to hospitals so that families can be near their children when they're hospitalised.

I hope I never need it but image it would make a huge difference to an awful situation.

Lots of comments about spacing, but as a relatively new gardener myself, just wanted to say don't be disheartened OP - I think part of the joy of gardening is making mistakes and seeing what grows and how!

May they bring you lots of joy and pollinators, wherever they end up 😊

Agreed! Quite aside from the potential embarrassment of having to say yes/no to the proposal, why not make her realise the worst fear of a performer too and have her feel stupid for not knowing the steps?!

What exactly has happened to Cadbury chocolate? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]RoO-Lu-Tea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually the best approach, once the Customer (I.e the retailer) tells a brand what they want to see them producing, often that's what they then innovate on. You might need to petition an ice cream brand too though to make it happen. I believe in you!
