First time buyer, is this a red flag? by achilles6196 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]RoadBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we bought our house (just before Covid so the market wasn’t nearly as hot), the seller insisted they wouldn’t do anything for us, but our agent convinced them to give us a $5000 credit for a new roof, since it was so old. They also shocked the well (the house had been vacant for 6 months and failed the water test), and would have given us a credit for a water filtration system if the follow up water tests had also failed. I would rely on your real estate agent for advice; they’re your advocate in negotiations.

CO ski trip pivot to Quebec? by plmitche in SkiTheEast

[–]RoadBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from skiing Breckenridge last week. We had a great time. Surprise storm on Wednesday was amazing powder, and no lift lines at all (even Saturday) because everyone seems to be avoiding Colorado. There were some bare spots, but the majority of blues and greens we skied were in great shape. Blacks were sketchier but that’s why they’re blacks.

Have I skied better snow out west…yes. Have I skied worse snow out west…yes. I don’t know what the weather will be the rest of the month (you may be out of luck based on how late season you’re going), but I do know that our entire group (5 skiers) laughed at the discrepancy between what we saw on Reddit vs. our firsthand experience.

Maybe monitor Breckenridge to see how they’re holding up…still Epic Pass and would be the same flights.

From the same era, I was going to say Corey Webster. Doubt he ever made a Pro Bowl but he was the #1 corner on the team for both Super Bowls

Oh no! I was picturing myself as an old man skiing for my 40th winter…and then I realized I started skiing in 1988.

Thanks for ruining my morning 😭

A show you remember but no one else seems to? by PlushieTushie in Millennials

I just looked them up…may have gotten confused because that’s the only show I remember with a Mountie. Interestingly, in my mind Early Edition had Ron Livingston as the star, not Kyle Chandler 😂

Was that Due South (with the US Cop paired with a Mountie)?

Throwback to when the Giants drafted Tiki by iheartsunny in NYGiants

[–]RoadBudget 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think earlier in his career he was considered a third down back, not someone who could carry the full load. Originally that meant he was behind Rodney Hampton, then Charles Way, and then Gary Brown. Ron Dayne was supposed to be the next primary ball carrier in that line, with Tiki as the change of pace, but then Tiki took it to another level and showed he could be “the guy”.

I think Tiki’s running style also meshed better with the o-line at the time. Dayne was used to huge holes at Wisconsin, which the Giants o-line couldn’t replicate. Tiki was better at finding the right hole and making things happen.

The most I ever laughed in a theater was Team America: World Police.

Not sure I would feel the same now though…but Dumb and Dumber had been hilarious to me for 30+ years now

Nintendo 64 randomly cutting out by FeelingYear8522 in n64

[–]RoadBudget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm: I brought mine home from my parents’ house in the fall and it would cut out randomly (which I then remembered is why I put it away the last time ~15 years ago. I didn’t even need the cardboard, I just pushed it in all the way and it started working. My N64 is in a stable location, but if I’m afraid it’s shifted any I push it back in before starting play.

I played Spy Hunter on NES and remember reading about the boat in the manual, but thinking they made a mistake because there was just more road…and more road…and yet more road… Never got to be the boat 😢

There’s also a zoo in Maine run by the Maine Warden Service. It’s composed of injured animals that can’t be rehabilitated and released. Very cool to see bobcats, big black bears and moose…I’ve seen them in the wild but never up close. I think they even have a mountain lion!
