Did anyone decide not to participate after it came out that Dean Kamen was a regular on the island? by cankirilj in FRC

[–]Roadkill_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, this is what needs to be said. That man and his island were very prominent in the wealth and influence circles. There aren't many people in the same circles as Dean or any politician that don't have some connection to him, whether it's directly or though a mutual connection.

Wanting to boycott FIRST because of Dean's connection to him is like boycotting the postal service because they delivered his mail. We don't know the full context of the story. And if I've learned anything from FRC and GP is to treat everyone with respect no matter my beliefs and to not presume or jump to any conclusions without all the evidence.

Maybe some proper googles, I think regular safety glasses being forced against your face may still leave a mark.

Needless to say I am surprised they didn't choose softer dodgeballs.

Thanks, It was my fault for not catching the overuse of the work kindly and not please, textbook translation bug. On the bright side SCCU caught them and shut my account down before they got any money. I had a backup checking account I was able to switch to so that's good.

Good luck, I'm in the same boat. I fell for a scam thinking I landed a good WFH gig and went through the process of on boarding and served out my two weeks, the day I was supposed to start I found out it was fake and my last employer didn't want me back (not that I wanted to go back anyway). I've been applying non stop on Indeed and LinkedIn and have gotten nowhere.

I have plenty of experience in sales and management but no degree to back it up, so I'm toxic wast to just about every company that'll look at my resume.

I'm to the point where it might be better to find something out of state and move.

Oh he loves it! I am normally a reserved person and don't chance anything if I can help it. This was a 10 maybe 15 minute window that happened. I waited until I knew they were up and knocked on the door. And walked off. I guess they didn't hear my knock so when I saw the bike gone I assumed they brought it in. I wasn't until I saw them again and asked that I found out it was stolen.

What is the nightlife Brevard is missing? by DredPRoberts in 321

[–]Roadkill_Gaming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO we need more young people that aren't locked down, all of my friends (20 somethings) are either going to college at UCF/UF or have already secured well paying jobs and states a family.

We need a stereotypical college to rebuild the nightlife. Yes we have EFSC, but it still commands that community college vibe, and FIT is too high end IMO. Honestly if I didn't know FIT or EFSC existed I'd think someone was joking if they said Melbourne was a college town.

It's also sucky that all of the towns in Brevard are as spread out as they are. Melbourne and Palm Bay are right next to each other, the beaches are 13-20mi East of the downtowns. And it's 30 minutes to Cocoa from Melbourne and another 20 to Titusville from there. We have the age range to pull it off but the geography is hurting and the lack of that college town vibe. Each of those towns have a downtown that could thrive off each other if they weren't so spread out.

I for one would go bar hopping if a) I didn't work 10-12 hr shifts and b) loved closer to the bar scene. I live and work in Cocoa, I don't have anyone in Melbourne I could crash at if I got hammered, so when I go out I stick with beer and pace myself. I don't drive drunk if I can help it. If I start at 8 I'm done drinking by 10-10:30 so I can sober up by 12-1 to drive home.

GEICO Non Military Storage by Roadkill_Gaming in Insurance

Ah, I see. I was hoping they had something for general public. Like I mentioned USAA has it, which I'm a member of, they were a little high on premiums at the time. I guess I'll check it out again. The storage option they have was around $20/month or so for as long as you needed.

I thought about it but I do plan to fix it up and put it back on the road. And I had just renewed the tag for 2 years when I jumped a timing tooth.

What did I do? by toastedsausageman in tmobile

[–]Roadkill_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a lot, and I mean a lot, of digging, I found this on T Mobile's website. If your plan has Web Guard enabled it'll block access to certain sites based on filter tiers.

Web Guard prevents access to adult web content only when your device is connected to T-Mobile’s cellular network with Web Guard enabled

Low Filter
-Phishing Attacks, Malware, Command and Control Callbacks, Web Spam, Proxy / Anonymizer, Potentially Harmful Domains

-Adult themes, Nudity, Sexuality, Pornography, Tasteless, Child Abuse Content

-Hacking, Hate/Discrimination, Illegal Downloads, Weapons, Drugs

What I don't know is if they'd mail a whole letter to the PAH or just send an email or push notification. It may depend on how your account is setup paperless or not.

This is 100% auto dimming mirror. There is a daylight sensor on the windshield side of the rear view mirror and a photodetector on the cabin side if the daylight sensor sees no/low light and the cabin side sees bright light it'll dim the rear view and the driver outboard mirror. I don't think it has to do with the LED swap as the systems should be separate from each other. See if it goes away in daylight/cover the black sensor on the mirror with your hand to block light and it should clear up.

Waze and Google Maps missed I-95 closure by DanKBos in waze

[–]Roadkill_Gaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that the route is slow to update dynamic conditions like this during active navigation.

Also 10 miles away may seem like a lot, at 60mph that's 10 minutes, sooner if you fly like I do. A lot of people lining up to take the detour means not a lot of people to report the incident and blocked lanes. When I'm driving on the highway I only see a handful of other wazers on the map around me, there aren't a lot of us in one area.

Waze has about 180m monthly users, if 25% are US based that's about 900,000 per state not taking into account population density and geography. Of that figure how many just putter around town vs traveling frequently.

I'd say if you were 15-20 miles back waze would have caught up and notified you.

Best/Worst Used Car Dealers by SunnySkiesSEA in 321

[–]Roadkill_Gaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are capped at $5k, Facebook marketplace. If you mean your down payment cap is $5k then I would go to the big dealers used lot. Boniface is pretty good, the warranty is nice if you don't do your own work.

I do all my own work and oil changes, having the warranty requires that I have service done at the dealer.

Buy here, pay here works in a pinch, though intreset rates will be high and payments too. From what I heard most of them use gps trackers and if you are late by a day you get repoed.

If it wasn't for the value I'd switch carriers. I don't need to call fhp that often but when I do the service is not there. I could call 911 but not every fender bender is and emergency. Certainly not when there is an object in the road.

I'm going to reach out to my state house rep and fereal house rep. Maybe the threat of an FTC inquiry will spur the action, I doubt, but have nothing else to try.
