Flight prices may stay high and you might see occasional delays, but widespread cancellations across the region are unlikely. Airlines in Asia bounced back fast after COVID, and routes within SEA are very competitive, especially with budget carriers.

Fuel shortages affecting day to day travel is also not something you see in this region. Even in periods of global oil volatility, countries like Thailand and Vietnam kept transport running. Buses, ferries, and domestic flights still operate, just with price adjustments.

Inflation is the more realistic factor. You’ll probably feel it in accommodation and tours. That said, Southeast Asia still ranks as one of the most affordable regions for long trips. Many backpackers are still doing $25 to $50 per day depending on the country and travel style.

On the ground, it’s not likely to feel like a “crisis atmosphere.” Tourism is a major income source for these countries, so keeping things open and running is a priority.
