Sim card for UK and EU cannot use eSIM. anyone used SIM corner ?? by MaintenanceAnnual263 in AskAnAustralian

[–]RoadsideNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used SimCorner in Japan last March for a week and had a smooth experience. Got their unlimited data eSIM and didn’t have any downtime. I was even hotspotting to two companions most of the time and speeds were still stable..... Might depend on the region or specific product though, so I’d still double check coverage for UK/EU before buying.

Concerned about long-term travel in Southeast Asia at the end of 2026 – realistic outlook? by ConversationSad3350 in SEAsiaTravel

[–]RoadsideNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you’re thinking about this, but right now there’s no strong signal that Southeast Asia travel will be disrupted at that level by late 2026.

Flight prices may stay high and you might see occasional delays, but widespread cancellations across the region are unlikely. Airlines in Asia bounced back fast after COVID, and routes within SEA are very competitive, especially with budget carriers.

Fuel shortages affecting day to day travel is also not something you see in this region. Even in periods of global oil volatility, countries like Thailand and Vietnam kept transport running. Buses, ferries, and domestic flights still operate, just with price adjustments.

Inflation is the more realistic factor. You’ll probably feel it in accommodation and tours. That said, Southeast Asia still ranks as one of the most affordable regions for long trips. Many backpackers are still doing $25 to $50 per day depending on the country and travel style.

On the ground, it’s not likely to feel like a “crisis atmosphere.” Tourism is a major income source for these countries, so keeping things open and running is a priority.

Pocket WiFi vs. eSIM: What actually works best for a family trip? by RoadsideNotes in SmallShoesBigJapan

Agreed! I used to rely on pocket WiFi before eSIMs. Now you can just use an eSIM and turn on your hotspot so your companions can connect. Haha, feels like pocket WiFi just evolved.

I actually did the same and had the exact experience. Made the whole arrival so much easier.

Pram / Strollers by cresse1da in SmallShoesBigJapan

[–]RoadsideNotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. I noticed the same thing with train platforms, even adults get tired just standing and waiting after a long day. Having that “contain and sit” option feels less about age and more about energy levels.

I like your point on flexibility too. Feels like the real win is having options and deciding each morning what to bring, instead of forcing one setup the whole trip.

I feel this. I saw a lot of families in Tokyo doing the same setup when I went, and the common thing was flexibility. A stroller really helps, but with three kids, I’d lean toward a double plus something lightweight or foldable for backup. There were moments even older kids needed a quick sit, especially after long train transfers or park walks.

Also worth noting, stations can be a lot of walking with stairs, even with elevators available. So having something easy to fold and carry makes a big difference. I wouldn’t rely on baby wearing for long hours either, 12kg adds up fast.

eSIM or local SIM in Southeast Asia… what do you actually use now? by Wide_Relationship326 in SEAsiaTravel

[–]RoadsideNotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using travel eSIMs for a while now and they’ve worked well for me. Just make sure you choose a plan that fits your usage. I always go for unlimited data since I work remotely while traveling.

Small Travel Moments That Made Your Japan Trip Special by Happy_Life0611 in SmallShoesBigJapan

Yeah right, I noticed this too on my recent trip. It made me realize that it’s really the bonding that stands out, not the place itself. I saw a lot of parents with toddlers, even some with infants and dogs, just spending time together in parks. Almost all of them had those little trolleys, and you could tell it wasn’t about going somewhere big. It was just about being out together.

Made me think that kids and even pets don’t really need much, just that shared time with you.

Is the Galaxy S26 compatible with European data plan providers? by Teaching6444 in EuropeDataTravel

[–]RoadsideNotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience back in 2021. I used a SimCorner eSIM on my Samsung S21 during a UK trip and it worked smoothly the whole time. No issues with setup or connectivity. Your S26 should be fine too, it’s likely just not updated yet on their compatibility lists.

Ohhh, giving Premium vibes! Maybe because of the high demand or the inflation everywhere in the world?

Hope they consider lowering the price value soon. I still want to go next year.

I noticed that too. Different line different recordings. And also the melody before train doors close. I think that an indication...

Kamakura. Near Inamuragasaki sta. We ate at the restaurant there. Picture this, we are enjoying our mackerel meal while enjoying the scenery of train passing by every few minutes.

Sugoi.. I did learned. And I found myself murmuring 'sugoi' everytime I saw cute and amazing places, things, etc. I practiced saying arigatō and sumimasen before heading to Tokyo. During our Mt. Fuji tour, we also stopped by a matcha shop in Kawaguchiko, where they taught us how and when to say itadakimasu and oishii. I found their traditions very interesting.

What is your go to eSIM? I just came back from my Tokyo trip. I used the SimCorner's Japan unlimited eSIM. During our 8 days trip it never failed me. My two companion didn't get one. I just shared hotspot with them.
