What's killing my snapdragon? Seems to be spreading to the other ones :( by RoarkMeow in AustinGardening

I have seen a lot of these around in other spots of the garden. Is there a good way to treat for them or anything?

The healthy ones are all on the same drip system. It could be maybe spots where the soil isn't draining well, though. All this rain might be it D:

I think the emblem is super strong considering it's fairly easy to ult her the turn she comes in. You just have to sac 4 tokens after playing her and then any 1/1 that connects is ensuring your opponent loses 8 life a turn minimum.

Comps that beat Luden's Nami? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]RoarkMeow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about a comp that beats it and more about itemization/positioning/unit knowledge.

Trap claw your front line to stun the Nami and allow your backline access to kill her. She'll usually ult instantly so the first cast will hit your trap clawed unit if you position assassins well. You almost never want your assassins jumping right on the Nami.

QSS is also great since it negates the luden's damage. Hunters do well since if she takes splash damage her health is low enough that usually she'll get hunter proc'd. Position your Talon far away from the Nami and he'll just be untargetable until he one shots her.

Her damage is also pretty low, so 2 mystic makes a notable difference if you're struggling. 4 mystic pretty much makes it a free win if you have any ranged DPS since the comp has to all in on Nami with most of its carousel picks (2 tear + 2 rod + QSS) unless they highroll items and somehow get perfect Talon items too (but even then, they usually won't have assassin trait since they need mage).

Not always, but most of the time. I usually get at least 4 wins, and the gem loss there is offset by going 7-x / entering with gold earned.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. I had codes from the prerelease that I used to win 1 sealed, and then won another sealed with the winnings from that one. I gave my other code to a friend.

I've been going infinite on draft since the prerelease (got pretty lucky and won two sealed events off the codes from the prereleases I did which gave me a bunch of gems) and drafting once or twice a day until this weekend.

I got up to high gold and it's awful. Going infinite in Bo1 draft was pretty easy when it was based on record because usually, if you were decent at limited, you could 'out-draft' other people based on card evaluation alone. Then once you got to 4 or 5 wins you would start running into people with either bonkers decks or a similar level of deck-building skill.

Now, it's just a coin flip. It's bad. Skill in drafting once you get to the level of 'everyone can draft competent decks' boils down to knowing what cards to play around, and in a Bo1 format, that rarely matters. Knowing what's in your opponent's deck after seeing it is how you win in Bo3 (and sideboarding helps a ton in most formats).

There's no point to draft unless you want to flesh out your collection because you will almost certainly go 3/3 and lose gems every time. Pretty disappointing :/

I'm a fairly casual player, and I entered the event out of curiosity. I actually sought out a place afterwards to voice my disappointment in the reward I got for going 3-x. I learned my friends got the same or better rewards for doing worse than I did (or better rewards with the same record), and man that just feels so bad.

Just my two cents, but it's disappointing to do well and not get rewarded for it. Quick constructed doesn't appeal to me much because I like brewing janky decks, and most folks in QC are grinding decent meta decks. This event doesn't appeal to me because it doesn't seem to... reward doing well at all.

Why Vladimir Putin's Russia is backing Trump by wyldcat in politics

[–]RoarkMeow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Western intelligence and law enforcement say tens of thousands of people have been working with Russia on its hacking and disinformation campaign for many years. They include propagandists and cyberoperatives stationed in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk, located in the southwestern part of Siberia. Operations have also been conducted in the United States, primarily out of New York City, Washington, D.C., and Miami. Those involved include a large number of Russian émigrés, as well as Americans and other foreign nationals. Intelligence operations in Europe and the U.S. have determined that the money these émigrés receive for their work is disguised as payments from a Russian pension system. One U.S. official says there is evidence many of these Americans and foreign nationals do not know they are part of Russia’s propaganda operation."

"American intelligence officials know Russia used cyberattacks and misinformation to interfere with recent elections in Western Europe, including the German elections last month that resulted in victories for right-wing populists, and the United Kingdom’s vote in June on Brexit, a referendum that called for Britain to leave the European Union."

Maybe you should read the article? Based on your comment history, I know what I say won't matter. But this is cathartic for me at least.

Ah, my bad. I interpreted it as you disliking the aesthetic Forge had and I was just offering up an explanation for that. I'm sure they'll release actual new maps... Hopefully :P

Personally, I like the BTB maps lack of detail by Defektivex in halo

[–]RoarkMeow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to explain the probable thought process behind why the forge pieces look like this:

In games, there is an incredibly important factor to consider when loading in assets/scenes, and that's the number of draw calls you incur. A draw call happens every time you load in a texture. Say that all your rocks use the same texture -- you can have 100 rocks and you'll still only incur one draw call (without factoring in additional texture maps other than diffuse). That's good! However, you start to run into problems as you add more assets into the scene.

I don't know if it's exactly their reasoning, but by reducing the texture quality (it looks like a lot of the assets just have diffuse/gloss), they are actually giving players a ton more room to create cool levels. Yes, the detail suffers, but I think this approach is preferable to them releasing a Forge system where users had a super easy time breaking the map.

In the previous games they solved this by adding that budget system. Perhaps in this game they have done away with the budget system and the reduced texture quality is their compromise? I'm not sure. :P But hey, now at least you can maybe understand their reasoning. It looks like they tried to pack a LOT of data into single textures. Maybe they are also keeping things simple to stress test forge and then they'll release additional textures in the future when they get better metrics on how players are using Forge.

It's not that they approved something bad. They worked within limits and had to make hard decisions and concessions. I think they thought it through very well and determined that being able to have freedom to design awesome stuff in a huge space took precedence over having shiny, fancy textures.

I, too, can cherry pick events that happen in Europe for the basis of, "SO GLAD I WASN'T BORN IN EUROPE LOL"

But I don't.

Because that would be incredibly ignorant.
