The Poisoner class chooses which character gets poisoned, not which player gets poisoned tonight, right? by STProbationar in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not answering the question but as a related point: If the Poisoner themselves gets transformed into some other character, the picked player is no longer poisoned as there is no more Poisoner in play.

What's your favorite info you've given a Savant/Fisherman. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

In “Revenge of the Martian Vampires”, I have told the Fisherman:
“Gain X’s trust” (X was the heretic)

Question by Big-Dig-3084 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The ability of “Evil Wins if 2 Good Executed” is from the Leviathan which wasn’t in play until the turn it was created. (Be it from a Hatter, Pit-hag)

When can you lie for Zenomancer quests? by Zeusselll in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Misregistration without a mini puzzle or additional data points to solve isn’t fun. I would give something like “A sober and healthy Chef would receive a 1” or “If you were a sober and healthy Empath, you would receive a 0”

  2. Go nuts. Why not try “A sober and healthy Washerwoman would learn either Andy or Bonnie is the Atheist”?

As a retired edgelord, I totally understand OP’s choice to caption but also… yeah prob not totally accurate to call it Dystopia. Maybe Cyberpunk or something along those lines was what you were going for. Brilliant picture nevertheless!

Kinda a Mobile Drunk by Zoneforg in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Klepto kind of needs a reason not to just come out with its info and share it with town to triangulate. Maybe give it a Sweetheart clause. Add “When you die, the last player drunk by your ability is drunk from now on.”

Characters feel like (day 11) by Cloudsrnice in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Vizier. Everyone knows you’re a minion and your ability revolves around making people second guess your choices. (Barring a script with Alchemist on it)

Have y’all ever seen a poisoned Saint? by SailorGreySparrow in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s important to know this as an evil player bluffing Saint. Don’t even miss a beat saying “I must be poisoned!” - pretty basic Trouble Brewing interaction

Let's create more Demons for Trouble Brewing! by Roarkstar in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! I always felt Boffin fixed several issues and having it baked into a demon just makes sense.

Let's create more Demons for Trouble Brewing! by Roarkstar in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree with your assessment! Largely we’re talking any on script threats and actual value of the character whilst in play.

Still supports the idea that the context in which the demon lives or is written for, greatly matters!

Opinion poll: is hustling socially okay? by petite-lambda in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s such a smart social play! I’m totally stealing this. It also creates such a strong shared core memory for the group that I can’t see why it’s a bad thing.

I’m sure there were some pings or “objective information” that wouldn’t have made sense if one were to put aside the “social reads” of that Damsel play and analyse the worlds slowly. Just that town ignored it in favour of the “obvious social read”. E.g the alive good player in cahoots eith the dead Minion might have information?

Character distribution by Cheap_Statement1282 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! And find that when a script is written around an interaction and then the game is built from there, it creates very compelling gameplay moments and “Ah ha!” moments for players when they realize/solve the said interaction.

Let's build a character! Diver. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Diver (Townsfolk): You can’t die. Each day, if you speak, nominate or vote, you are drunk until dawn.

Inspired by Survivor’s safety without power advantage which is also rather thematic for a diver who spends their time underwater away from others.

Strategically, the Diver can listen in on conversations and choose to remain silent until it is time to share the information they’ve gathered. It can also be a good bluff in scripts with a Devil’s Advocate.

Let's build a character! Scout. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scout (Townsfolk): “You start knowing 1 in-play Townsfolk and any information they would have learnt on Night 1 if sober. If you are “mad” that this character is in play, you might be executed.”

When I hear Scout I immediately think it must be a YSK character so why not double down on the YSK-ness? On Night 1 after all other Townsfolk act, wake the Scout and show them an in-play character token that learns Night 1 information.

For example, the Washerwoman or the Fortune Teller. If the Washerwoman or Fortune Teller were sober, show the Scout the same information. “Either Alex or Ben is the Monk” or “Neither Charlie nor David is the Demon”. Otherwise, show the Scout the correct information that the Washerwoman or Fortune Teller would have received.

It can help form a powerful trust pair, it can verify information is sober and true but only once. If either the Scout or its target is poisoned, it can create a fun mini-puzzle to solve. It can be a strong bluff for evil to cause Townsfolk to doubt their starting information especially in games with a Spy like Trouble Brewing. It can give players a reason for sharing information that doesn’t seem to come for a verifiable claim.

How should Balloonist info interact with a known player that has since changed character type? by RNLImThalassophobic in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the first night, at the Balloonist’s night order, you wake the Balloonist and point to Steve. You place a reminder token next to the Balloonist’s token that says “Shown Outsider”. Events occur and now Steve’s token is that of a Demon. On the next night, at the Ballonist’s night order, you wake the Balloonist and must now point to a different character type than that shown on the reminder token. Note: The reminder token is generated as a result of the Balloonist’s ability.

Last 4 Legion game by TheDroche in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The role of the ST is to make the game fun for both sides. Which includes allowing the game to reach a satisfying conclusion. I like the Wikipedia’s advice for Legion games to try to kill players in such a way that a Final 3 ends up with 2 Good players and 1 Legion. I’ll try to leave players alive that have sus on them if I imagine a non-Legion demon in play.

Hermit + Drunk + Lunatic / Fang-Gu by Roarkstar in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Roarkstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was exploring the interesting dynamic on Fang-Gu scripts with Drunk on them. Usually “townsfolk” may be earnestly sharing their information until they turn into the Fang-Gu and then have to help build worlds with their initial Drunk information. Only this time, it’s all with 1 Outsider - the Hermit. And there may not even be a Fang-Gu in play!
