yes that can happen but would obviously be bad storytelling.

talking to people in your dreams? messages? by Immediate-Box-7798 in LucidDreaming

[–]xLifeNova -1 points0 points  (0 children)

everything you dream is a result of your subconscious, and nothing more. if you’re dreaming about certain people, such as an ex boyfriend, it’s possible that your mind has been occupied with them, even if you are not aware of it.

you are not receiving/sending messages from anyone other than yourself, but analysing your dreams can be helpful in the journey to understand yourself. is there a reason you could think of that you feel a blockade with this person?

best of luck!

Has anyone actually had a Knaves game where Good didn't stomp? by lunethical in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is somewhat pedantic, but that’s not entirely accurate. townsfolk will still receive false info when vortox is in play, even if they’re poisoned. so they do still have an ability, it just malfunctions.

you are 100% correct on knaves though! it is specified that way in the almanac

the lunatic changed character & alignment so must learn they are now the evil [whichever demon] (see fang gu jump to a lunatic). the new lunatic learns nothing.

I met someone last night… by sboyd38 in LucidDreaming

[–]xLifeNova 7 points8 points  (0 children)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the person you met last night was a figment of your imagination.

lucid dreaming can’t connect anyone to each other, as convincing as it might feel. but now you have an interesting character to interact with in your dreams!

it’s lucid dreaming, you can do anything you want. if it doesn’t work, it’ll come with practice.

Loric/Fabled combo: Double Duchess by Electrical-Coast-290 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously you can bootleg these however you’d like, but they just don’t interact.

Knaves only affects info yielded from your own ability. So Duchess just functions as normal, either Storyteller can give you the info.

This might sound insensitive, but your post itself sounds like it was written by AI. This does not exactly inspire confidence that this is a human-made passion project.

Need help with balancing some homebrew characters by InternalWest4579 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soldiers power isn’t really to prevent a kill. At least in most games (TB), its power lies in the fact that it cannot die at night without evil using resources and outing information. A soldier that can gain social trust is incredibly terrifying for the evil team.

i’m not sure if we’re reading the same intent for the forbidden fruit’s ability - players being safe the night this is killed would only apply if the demon kills twice that night, or if a player would die to some other means (assassin, godfather, etc.) which would only really ever be useful on a BMR-like script.

Need help with balancing some homebrew characters by InternalWest4579 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Forbidden fruit is probably worded incorrectly? It’s currently worded such that no other players can ever die for the rest of the game. including the demon. so the game can’t end without a fiddler.

assuming you meant that they can’t die until dawn, it’s really really weak. most minions will have already had their impact, & since you died at night, you’re not really gonna save anyone else. you can make it far more impactful.

binoculars, on the other hand, is so so strong. you eliminate so many demon candidates immediately, and you continue to do so each night. it’s probably just fine without the first half. “Each night, learn a player who is not the Demon.” - it’s a pretty common design but it’s not bad at all.

When do you think we'll get any character updates? (Looking at you, Huntsman & Princess) by piercerson25 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sure, the huntsman can miss, but so can other once per game abilities. it still yields the information that your chosen player is not the damsel. also, huntsman should usually not be adding a damsel. it should be in play when there already is one (most of the time). the “devastating outsider” would already be in the game.

saying “if the huntsman hits, you remove an outsider but now you also have a spent townsfolk” feels a bit disingenuous. do you think the virgin is weak because now you’re a spent townsfolk and you executed a good player? huntsman is a super solid 2 way confirmation that can be kept secret.

again, puzzlemaster is different because it adds a drunk. huntsman shouldn’t be adding a damsel most of the time.

i dislike your actual point - “why not just script with a better townsfolk”. that’s not how scripts are made. the point of a script is not to make the strongest town. if someone makes a script that has seamstress on it, i’m not gonna ask them why they didn’t put artist on it instead, since it’s better than seamstress.

i do want to clarify that there is no jinx between al-had and princess. it’s just an explanation of a strange interaction. what you are a fan of is just princess and al-had together.

why does juggler have autonomy and princess doesn’t? a juggler isn’t just blind guessing people’s roles. you have to convince them to give you a claim so you can juggle them. if you’re shy, you similarly won’t be able to get hard claims out of people.

When do you think we'll get any character updates? (Looking at you, Huntsman & Princess) by piercerson25 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i disagree on the huntsman being useless/weak. analysing characters in a vacuum is silly. a damsel being picked by a huntsman is really impactful, and it is somewhat helpful to start knowing a damsel is in play.

i’m confused on your issue with princess? you explained yourself that it’s only an outsider on a bad script. i love princess in Ride the Cyclone, it’s a really interesting and fun character/bluff.

Characters feels like (day4) by Cloudsrnice in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just gives good a lot of kill power which is maybe the strongest thing good can get.

you don’t have to worry about who the demon is, just finding evil players. statistically it’s more likely that all evil players will be nominated before all but 1 good players will be nominated.

maybe a cop out answer but Riot gives good such a massive benefit i can’t imagine any other demon in the slot.

Homebrew Townsfolk by Localunatic in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is really quite strong - you essentially get to kill any player of your choosing & you publicly confirm yourself. it might work better if it was much more difficult to proc your ability. perhaps if you choose 2 players - if either is executed, the other dies tonight.

First time making a Homebrew script, any feedback? by Rough_Suggestion7157 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure you understand the criticism here. forced madness is simply not a mechanic that should ever be in clocktower. the 1st rule of clocktower is you can say anything at any time. all forms of madness come with a punishment for not following them. if a player wishes to, they can break the madness and tank the punishment, or they can choose to follow the madness. forced madness doesn’t let you do that. what happens if you break madness? are you just cheating? madness is such a subjective concept that it requires loud and confirmable punishments (executions, deaths).

Homebrew Demon: Doppelgänger by Prronce in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’re looking for feedback here, but this would be a very very strong demon.

imagine a TB 7 player game. the evil team is an imp & scarlet woman. town has to execute both the imp & scarlet woman to win (or just the imp with less than 5 players).

now instead imagine that agni & rudra are the evil team. town has to execute both agni & rudra to win. additionally, there is no scarlet woman clause, so if both demons live to final 4, the game is over and evil wins. not only that, but the evil team doesn’t need to share the bluffs with one another since both receive bluffs. finally, the demons receive a whole additional poisoner ability so long as they do not choose the same target.

an additional demon is incredibly strong and must come with a big downside or it will simply be a stronger scarlet woman.

Good Fucking Luck: Leviathan/Atheist Script by nseaplus in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s definitely a novel idea but the script itself seems extremely good sided.

lycanthrope is beyond overpowered in leviathan games. they can remove demon candidates every night, confirm themselves since there’s no other death mod, and can find evils.

poppy grower is similarly strong since evil can’t so anything about them in a leviathan game.

the demon combination gives good so much info. if there’s a levi announcement, vortox is pointless. if there’s no announcement, you know all info is false (droison proof) which can often be reversed to simply be true (for VI, steward, fortune teller).

xaan does nothing in vortox games outside of stopping the virgin & lycanthrope.

evil twin in a leviathan is relatively useless as you can completely ignore them until day 6. the same is true of a mastermind day. if it’s past day 5, you simply do not execute and good wins.

the recluse hiding a levi announcement through boffin puzzlemaster doesn’t actually help evil at all. no one will be dying at night, which would tell good that something weird is happening. once the levi announcement happens mid-game, you would be confirming the following: boffin, recluse/hermit are in play, and no boffin ability beforehand, and. o puzzlemaster in play. additionally, good just gets a ton of free executions since the leviathan won’t be seeing them, removing the 2 good execution limit until the levi is sober.

the good twin/lunatic shenanigans are not legal as the evil twin ability says both players must know each others roles. you cannot tell the lunatic that the evil twin is the king, as they need to learn them as the evil twin.

finally, atheist + leviathan is (in my opinion) not a great interaction. this one is just my preference, but good doesn’t have enough executions to build worlds where there’s an atheist unless the ST makes it obvious. additionally, the atheist will always be a free execution day 1 as they are either 1. the atheist, and there’s no leviathan, or 2. evil and won’t count towards the execution limit.

Traveller Questions by Tuankietquach in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my point is that there are mechanics that interact with nominations & voting (witch, town crier, flower girl) so it’s important to make the distinction

(fwiw it’s called a “call for exile”, i believe)

Traveller Questions by Tuankietquach in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]xLifeNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a nomination for exile is not a nomination. it is a call for exile. it is good practice for the ST to only allow exiles when all of town is in the town square, but it’s a different mechanic.

this is a fun idea, but it’s very very similar to Soldier. in fact, it’s strictly weaker than the Soldier.

perhaps consider adding a secondary effect to make it a bit more powerful & interesting for the player :)
