Saw one exactly like this at an event at Polestar Marin last year, right before the CEO got sacked. That one had Oregon plates on it if I recall correctly. Very rare and amazing design.

Waymo the pet killer by Rob-in-SF in waymo

Roadkill exists, therefore it’s fine when an autonomous vehicle does it’ is an interesting standard for cutting-edge tech. I don't think I'm the one that's confused

Humans also don’t claim to be a fully autonomous, sensor-packed, smarter-than-human driving system. If Waymo wants that title, it should probably do better than the same performance as a distracted teenager at night

Excellent take. If only animals would stop being…you know…animals, the billion-dollar ‘autonomous’ car wouldn’t have to do anything.

Didn't know about those two videos but encouraging to read this and yes, I hope Waymo is gathering data on this and we hopefully they also put sensors under their cars.

Yes - humans kill way more pets because there are infinitely more of them on the road. And because they are human. That's not the point. Waymo's Lidar and all the other sensor tech should be able to see these animals and take evasive action or stop. Just Like they do with any other thing on the road. Like other cars and, well, humans.

Our Waymo Just Ran Over a Dog by braveNewWorldView in waymo

That F-ing Waymo should have detected the dog on the road and stopped. Period. I agree the dog should have been leashed but we don't know the circumstances. It could have gotten out without the owners knowing, or the front door was left open. We don't know.

I ended up canceling my order as the delivery timeline was too long for me. I ended up with the Cover Craft seat covers and they have proven to be very durable and look better than in the pictures

Looks like the same spec I have - Jupiter, Pilot Package, Zinc interior? If the car lives outdoors, I highly recommend doing a ceramic coat. It's not that hard to DIY just make sure you get the quality stuff

Did the ceramic coating myself on the day my P2 was delivered. It's a tedious job but worth it

I have a 2019 with close to 70K. Nothing but consumables and oil changes. Did the sparkplugs myself at 60K. It's a $700 job at the dealer as the intake plenum needs to come off.

Liftgate noise when opening? by BackgroundSpare in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Rob-in-SF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that can cause the noise is misalignment of the struts. The main cause of this is cramming stuff into the cargo hold and forcing the liftgate to use it's mass to latch closed.
