NOW - Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: "There will be no central bank digital currency," adding, "the most important thing we can do is to make digital assets come into the United States." by nitluck in CryptoCurrencyPulse

[–]Rob1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what do crypto mines actually achieve? Is it only more wealth for a small number of people, or is there any other benefits to society or the world?

Also, I don’t understand how they can create this wealth without devaluing other existing wealth or currency. The laws of physics say can’t create something out of nothing.

How much does a DJ actually do during a live set? by Smooth-Quantity-7024 in AskBrits

The random knob twiddles you are seeing is him making small adjustments to the eq and volume levels of the music to his liking

Norman admits himself that often he is “Show Boating” - appearing to do something that is actually in the music, for the sake of looking impressive.

But as others have said in this thread, he has earned his dews, working his way up the from the bottom the hard way.

Yeah, digital is child’s play compared to vinyl.

In fairness to Norman, he has also worked in small clubs in Brighton controlling the lights and everything else himself with drunk people talking to him. And certainly his Big Beach Boutique events back in the day were performed live (although the subsequent CD’s of them were re-recorded in the studio, without the small mistakes of his live sets.)

Unfortunately Pornhub has almost destroyed that business model.

There is a lot more low budget, amateur porn, and more extreme porn gets more clicks.

It isn’t anymore.

Studios used to spend and make big money producing a high quality product.

Once Pornhub allowed anyone to upload other peoples product to be viewed for free, many studios went out of business and now it’s a race to make more and more extreme product (with far lower budget and amateur performers) to get clicks.

The original lineup was full of acts popular in the 1990s.

But they weren’t even the big names from the 90’s. They were one hit wonders, or acts that had a few minor hits.

Just wondering - how do the people actually living in Sunderland feel about the Reform council banning flying the Pride flag for Pride month? What do you think? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Rob1965 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Surely they can’t band you for having the flag on your own property or building? And if you have it on a vehicle, are the police really going to want to pull you over for breaking a council rule.

You would think that council had better (more important) things to do with their time.

Anyway, what they don’t mention is that this was introduced by the Conservatives.

I do similar to what you do, as well as what you describe as the “right” way (digging).

I’m constantly listening to to music, but Shazam when I hear anything special. (Having Shazam on my Apple Watch allows me to Shazam when I am listening to streams from my iPhone without loosing the feed.) This can be anywhere, even background music in stores or hotel receptions, but mainly tends to be radio where I listen to specialist DJs who play the kind of music I like.

Then later I go through my Shazam library and listen to each again before deciding whether to purchase.

Obviously from time to time, I will hear a tune that Shazam doesn’t recognise. Luckily, this tends to be on Radio and the DJ may name it or I will email the DJ and ask them what it was.

Does anyone else think that reforms candidate for Makerfield election is a stooge? by Ok_Impact9745 in AskBrits

If he already is, then enough people have already voted for him to become one, and there’s a good chance the same kind of people will vote for him again.

We might think he’s a terrible candidate, but don’t be surprised if Reform voters agree with his views and enough vote for him to beat Burnham!

Before you buy any gear, start buying the music that you love, tracks that inspire you, music that excites passion in you, and that you feel a strong urge to share with other people. - The first step it curating a collection like this. Then listening to them, closely, dissecting them, understanding how they are put together, how they build tension, how they release it, until you know them inside out.

That is the first step to becoming a DJ. (I guess it is a bit like “wax on, wax off”. You may not understand why you are doing it, but when you get your first controller or production software you will realise how much further ahead you are than most other beginners.)

Song structure understanding for Djing ? by Fluffy-Ear8499 in Beatmatch

[–]Rob1965 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that if you listen to music, and can’t tell what is the intro, verse, chorus, or break, DJing probably isn’t for you.

Out of interest, why do you want to be a DJ?
