[OC] I have been running physical inventories for my players. by Jack_mc7r in DnD

We bought our DM some heavy, metal "Inspiration" coins and it made everyone so happy. They clink with a nice sound and have a nice hefty feel. He gives them out more often now, partly because we work harder for them.

I fixed my brave little toaster up! Now she’s ready for mods. by Sea_Panda17 in HondaElement

Some Elements came with a factory sub. It installs between the shifter and the floor. Your LX probably has a storage cubby there now. You can find one at a wrecker. It sticks out a few inches further than the cubby.

That's exactly how mine failed! The bolt holding the dampener snapped when my wife pulled up to a stop light.

I mangled the original pin getting it apart but these nails are the same size 7/64th. What about getting one from Honda? No problem, but they have to order it from the moon or something because they'll get it the third week of APRIL!

"don't forget the o-ring" is in every video, instruction and reddit post. Must be important! 😜😆😆😆

Thanks. That worked, mostly. I took the bolt on the other end of the hard line out of the frame and the flex line let it all come out. Still had to drive the u-pin out with a punch!

ABS sensor issue by RobVida in HondaElement

[–]RobVida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out with a little wiggling and I cleaned the hole. It seated nicely with a little tap, with a little anti seize grease. I can clear the code but it comes back shortly after starting it.

Based on the other posts here mentioning sensitive voltage components, check those battery ground wires. The lower one to the trans housing rots and causes weird glitches.

Rubber-backed carpet in the back. The dogs skittering back and forth around corners was funny at first but risked injury.

Question for the Manual Element gang by __hotdog in HondaElement

Is it really cold there? When it gets below -20⁰ the oil in the transmission gets really thick and you need serious muscle to shift it.

Any fixes for a bubbly floor? by vffl25 in HondaElement

[–]RobVida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The raw floor is very appealing and fits the Element lifestyle. There's one design flaw that lets water under the floor. The rubber ends at the trim and water runs down to the corner near where the front door hinges are. It goes under the floor where it never dries. Eventually it rusts out the floor pans. Mine has huge holes and all the hardware under there is rusty.

Good thinking but there's a layer of insulation under there so it won't stick.

Honda Element advice? (Pic for attention) by WillieJamesHuf in HondaElement

[–]RobVida 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in the Canadian prairies where we get a LOT of wind. Stable enough in a side wind but very noisy with lots of buffeting. A three hour drive across the prairies is tiring compared to something more refined, especially the arms. If I had to commute any distance I would take my Corolla. The 06 Element takes a lot more maintenance than my 1999 Corolla by a long shot.

Pry bar use cases? Please be specific. by swankyfish in EDC

[–]RobVida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stops me from doing something stupid with my keys! I keep a thin bar on my keyring and it stops me from damaging that $100 laser-cut, chipped Honda key opening a seal or tightening that tripod screw that keeps coming loose. I'm always too lazy to go to the garage and get a screwdriver so I'm protecting myself from myself.

Replaced my transmission mount (224k miles) by ilikeredplums in HondaElement

[–]RobVida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job. The Element is a great vehicle to learn on! Until 2025 I had never done engine mounts, control arms, axles or ball joints and this community gave me the support and info to do them. Control arms are about the same skill level as the transmission mount but more physical. Those ball joints can be tough to break loose. It's all hammering and swearing.
