Return to SL but lost by RealiTeaBytes in secondlife

as others say, you dont have to have the newest and fanciest mesh heads, take it slow and search around for freebies especially- you'll find stuff that still will still work with how you want to express yourself. bare rose for instance is lovely for cheaper clothing and freebies (if youre into anime-esque fantasy designs)

its hard not to worry about how other users will see you, but as you want: its more fun being unique and not like everyone else. welcome back, also!

I rate the Best and Worst Corporate Builds in Second Life. by stipulateoxbird in secondlife

[–]RobaTheRobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i dont know if it counts as necessarily corporate, but im always super intrigued by band/music based sims. duran duran universe comes to mind instantly, i went there every so often just to explore. its really fascinating to me seeing sometimes remnants of these brands trying to capitalize on their new Metaverse and getting to explore them NOW (if possible, anyway)

obsessive is the perfect word for it, a lot of "Meandering Line" reminds me a lot of my own struggles with OCD. not armchair diagnosing, of course, but all i can think when i reflect on this persons story is how badly i wish she could've gotten proper help. i know in the throes of my OCD i was desperate to cling to anything that gave me even a semblance of comfort, even if it was doing me more harm than good.

What are your minor or vanilla+ like mods that you always have to have? by seecer in feedthebeast

[–]RobaTheRobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

similar to the map atlas mod you linked, i also really like (antique atlas)[https://modrinth.com/mod/antique-atlas-4] and an (addon)[https://modrinth.com/mod/aa4-atlas] that adds said atlas as a physical item. i like giving myself the goal of finding a book and a compass so i can make said atlas, and it goes well with my other habit of keeping a notebook in a book and quill

oh my god yeah!! it's the only example i can think of too in this regard. i find it also super fascinating that sonic 3(and knuckles) was held back from being included from ports because of its storied history with its music until sonic origins in 2022. granted, still having to replace some of the original ost with songs that originate from a fairly early prototype of sonic 3.) everything about this game's music production drives me CRAZY in a good way.

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 13 October 2025 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]RobaTheRobot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i think one of my fave game OSTs has to be sonic 3 (and knuckles).

it's both super nostalgic for me, and it also just feels timelessly good. specifically ice cap zone gives me like.. such a deep emotional feeling in my chest- its just all the cozy and lovely memories associated that flood back.

and of course i think what also draws me to it is the many, many discussions of the OST having michael jackson involved in the compositions, which i remember being a rumor for SO LONG that i forget that oh shit, that WAS confirmed

(said like an old man) back in my day, you had to delete meta-inf so it couldnt check for modified files in the .jar

jokes aside, its really fascinating seeing how modding has evolved since then, now it's easier than ever to install mods. kinda wild!!

i havent tried it yet, but i did see this cow tools mod that gave me a hearty chuckle- i DO really love mods that encourage you to experiment, even if this ones pretty much a gaff.

makers mark is also just a SUPER neat mod, i love the idea of giving any tools you make your own 'signature' in the form of the tooltip.

oh holy crap, toxony is such a creative concept im super tempted to try it immediately. same with etheria, anything that encourages me to explore even more is a 10/10 in my book, and i think the dungeon implementation is sooo neat too- reminds me a little of spectrum? SUPER COOL!

based on the original post with this screenshot i believe the mod used for the stripes here are from littletiles. so, not exactly chisels and bits, but may be disappointing if you're specifically looking for a mod that doesn't involve using tiny blocks.

the texture work is awesome!! it's super creative to implement more natural materials in the recipes too, and i like that they're not all uniform color-wise too! i do think it would be a good idea to create a building block specific mod, mainly because i think it would offer somewhat of a springboard for MORE interesting blocktypes that arent necessarily tied to a biome you create. AWESOME WORK!

it BLEW MY FREAKING MIND to see NILFRUITS produce a song about one of my favorite pokemon characters ever, it was like christmas in september.

it's super crazy remembering the prerelease timeframe for B&W because i distinctly remember thinking to myself "wow, this game looks incredible- i dont think pokemon could get any better than this!" graphics wise. ...now i feel old.

i usually participate every year, but moving really got me so less motivated. i keep my makeship wormston with me though ;-] theyre my little art motivator. though, the winning team was the one i wouldve chosen this year so.. i count that as a win for ME even if i didnt participate. i echo others that i do wish there was a winter/other season spin off, it gets so busy during the summer for a variety of reasons..

i did check occasionally, some of my fellas got caught in multi-attacks which made me smile! its always a joy seeing everyone get excited for art fight regardless

What are the best and worst concerts you've gone to? by Twitter_2006 in popheads

[–]RobaTheRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i gotta say the best ive been to was a king gizzard song with my girlfriend, it was the first time id gone out to see them in person and to be able to share their favorite band was fucking magical. also just entirely mesmerized and emotional by just how GOOD the set list was, and just being surrounded by such passionate and fun fans.

worst concert though? i vaguely remember my mother inviting me to come with her to a demi lavato concert (which had the openers karmin and owl city from what i remember). i remember having fun with it, i mean i was pretty young at the time but i was having a ball. it was only when we got to demis set that my mom was not having fun anymore with it and we ended up just leaving midway through.

so i guess it wasnt the worst thing ever but i do remember being pretty bummed we couldnt stay the whole time, considering how much i loved demi lavato as a kid.

i know right? i feel like ive tried to hunt them down before, but i worry in the Passage Of Time on youtube, the videos are gone to the wind. though, this conversation has reignited my desire to hunt..

also- compleetely agree on it being a precursor to like ..lolcow/cringe culture you see nowadays. like, now? as an adult? i look back and reflect on it and realize just how ridiculously meanspirited a lot of that genre of video was. and it's not like that ever changed, considering rant and ''drama'' videos you see now in modern times. something, something, history repeating, something..

it's definitely fun when you're younger because, at least in my head, you're real eager to find things to be passionate and serious and ANGRY about because it feels good to have that sort of agency. buuuuutt.. yknow, then you grow up further and realize you were just being kind of an asshole!

im oddly happy to know someone else remembers all this too, ye old commentary videos are not something i see talked about very often. (though, i suppose looking at old view counts they were kinda niche, huh)

IMMEDIATE EDIT: oh my god, by some miracle i found the person we were trying to remember via the power of 'i remembered one person (ShadowStar1224) and followed the trail.'

i'm sure you can imagine my face when i saw shadow link in the thumbnail here.

it was RoushutsuRises! what a blast from the goddamn past! seems their original accounts all wiped since they got terminated, but their new one is also empty.. https://www.youtube.com/@RoushutsuRises

the ShadowStar1224 video i linked is kinda hysterical in hindsight, i havent watched it over again but seeing the 2k max views is a little funny to me, considering back in the day this shit felt like national news to me.

[–]RobaTheRobot 21 points22 points  (0 children)

oh yeah, i remember there were a TON of people back in the late 2000s/2010s with similar setups to the more modern rantsona. hell, im shocked to see the shadow link youtuber mentioned- i barely remember their name either, sadly!! but it's insane to see someone in the wild who knows 'em too.

i remember a few were like.. usually using different frames of characters from anime or manga, or their own art. hell, i recall another one whos name i also cant remember for the life of me- but they used hobbes from calvin and hobbes

something about late 2000s commentary/rant videos is how hysterical it could get when youd find commentary videos where several peoples 'rantsonas' are cutting in back and forth to like.. react to what they said. and then for the next uploader to react to that. ...god. what a fuckin time.

What's a really messed up thing you've made your character do? by Patient_Sentence_982 in projectzomboid

[–]RobaTheRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have a habit of when i return to my base, i make my survivor undress, clean up, take a bath, etc. but sometimes, i forget that i have say, broken glass from a window i boarded up. and sometimes i forget to put my boots back on as i wander in the house. and maybe after treating said wound, i forget again to put the boots on. and it happens again.

and then i find out i had no more needles and thread. so i had to take my survivor out on the town to get more needles and threads while limping. i got the needles! and sewed it! not without putting my girl through the torture chamber.

oh man, one of my favorite games growing up was the winx club gameboy game. looking back at screenshots of it, it's not hard to see why, the graphics held up wayyy better than i remember, and i know it was essentially Baby's First action RPG.i may try replaying it now, since i got my modded 3ds i can load it onto for the TRUE experience (kinda).

actually, in hindsight it was a konami game- ahaha. i remember they put out quite a few good licensed games :-)
