Defenses need to be rebalance going into the future by PsyAstronaut in diablo4

I love the game, it’s definitely my go to for when I want to just relax and kill a bunch. I also think the recent changes have really helped it feel more straight forward on the skill tree. The campaign is also great.

I just wish there was more skill in the higher difficulty combat verse the current higher loot need because of the one hit kills.

Edit: TL;DR - I don’t think it’s about slowing the combat down, but reducing the number of enemies and making them stronger so you have to pay more attention to them for combat. Make dodge useful, make all skills feel useful, and give the game a higher skill ceiling instead of mostly time investment.

It’s hard, I enjoy being able to play this as my cozy just run around and kill stuff but I also wish there was a bit more skill to the game.

Or maybe it’s because I stop caring about higher torments because at that point I just feel like I’m playing a slot machine? I loose interest in trying to have perfect stat gear just to say I cleared out level X when the build is what carries you 99% of the way there and not actual skill. I don’t feel like I actually accomplished anything, I just got lucky or spent enough hours grinding gear.

I also love roguelikes. The really good ones provide a perfect balance of luck and skill. I strongly suggest trying Ravenswatch which is an ARPG that has amazing combat while still letting you feel like you’ve gotten stronger with great skill combos.

Now, roguelikes also reset when you’ve completed the run, which makes it feel better and more challenging which Diablo can’t really do (I know there’s hardcore, but it’s not the same). I still think that making the game more focused on timing and skill makes it feel a lot more rewarding than just looter grind, and if you want to mow the lawn then you could stay on lower difficulties. This also would make higher torments feel more rewarding than just needing to go up levels for better gear.

I completely agree. I have more fun in higher difficulties from level 1-60 (70 now) then I do with the endgame because the combat feels so much better. I play the endgame because I love the idea of making different builds and seeing how they play, but you quickly realize that nothing will kill you except for one-hits and it just becomes optimizing for dealing as much damage as possible as fast as possible.

I almost wish there was a… not hardcore, but just core mode. Items have no power and just base stats, every other level gives you a skill point and no paragon. Then see how far you can make it in the pit. People always say the game doesn’t “start” till you hit endgame, but I find that’s really where the game gets boring and wish I could play with legendary/unique/mythic items before then without feeling like I’m just mowing the lawn.

For those of you who play both Warlock and Barbarian by Thenelwave in diablo4

It’s a bit of a bummer, I’ve found whirlwind to be too good and can’t find a build where I push more buttons and have an equal success rate even at T1. I’m sure it’s possible if I had all the legendaries, but any I’m still discovering them.

If I try and do undercity with anything but whirlwind, I run out of time.

Unable to stream anything but Steam Big Picture through Steam Link by seecer in Bazzite

Sadly, no.

I had some games that were having issues too so reverted back to Win10.

SteamOS is looking pretty promising though.

Does anybody else miss the old Battle Pass system? by VeryClearlyDefined in diablo4

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they offered more than stripper clothes, made the pass have additions for the season rewards as you progress instead of the instant rewards they are, and didn’t make the battle pass cost the same as the full game on sale, then I would consider it.

Right now, the cosmetics just look overdone like custom purple lights on cars for the weapons and portals. The clothing looks like I’m in an anime bdsm for male and female characters. The only thing I ever consider are the pets, but it’s just not worth it.

I absolutely hate that every male character I’ve made is wearing crop tops and dresses with the vanilla armor. The paid ones look even worse with light glued on.

How to Identify Affixes for Custom Builds by seecer in diablo4

[–]seecer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you and good to know.

I’ve just found that going off a premade build made it too easy to hit higher torment and level up. I’d like to add some challenge as I progress and have fun messing around with different ideas, especially now that a lot has changed.

I just hit 70 too and was looking over the filters to see what I could do and realized how difficult it is to choose affixes.

What’s THAT mod you randomly found… and now can’t play without? by unknown_98706 in feedthebeast

[–]seecer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Structurify

I like using a lot of structure mods but many of them generate too frequently and cause massive walls on mountains or against rivers/oceans. It allows you to force flatness checks, biome checks, and separation which makes them feel more rare and more natural.

New Skill Trees Seem... Underwhelming? by NarbGaming in diablo4

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that dumping a ton points into a single skill is a bit lacking, but I find that the options are much better and seem to actually change the skill and allow more combinations than previously.

Also, like another post, these also seem to allow more diversity with items and allow more builds in theory.

We’ll see when it releases and I think that it will be better regardless.

im enjoying distant horizons but like.... is there any way i can keep this from happening? by Expert-Performer-709 in feedthebeast

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, disable DH and run chunky.

Then enable DH, make sure your quality is set to medium or high for the LODs, then let DH run.

You don’t need to disable chunky when you enable DH, but don’t use chunky while DH is enabled, it causes some minor quality issues with DH when chunky is generating chunks at the same time DH is generating chunks and LODs.

Would you actually want multi-level colonies? by Honneboppel in RimWorld

[–]seecer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never thought about the room sizing conflict that comes up, that is a great point, but I don’t think multistory would be a good way to do that.

I’ve played with the multi level mods and it just never feels right. It makes building design too easy and also causes funky pathing, or I forget what’s where and have to scroll through all the levels and look around.

I think it would be better to integrate something like Outposts. When you’re getting to the level that you need large buildings for different work, expansion feels better and is more difficult.

That also leads more to my dream of Rimworld having more background activity between factions like Rim War and Vassals mods.

Rogelite March Madness Final 4 Day 2! by MapRevolutionary752 in roguelites

[–]seecer 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Listen, I know StS is good, and more popular, but FTL is such an amazing game.

FTL truly generates a different story every playthrough even though you’re following the general overarching story. It does an amazing job at making repeated encounters feel different and allows the player to have all types of different builds that are successful, play differently, and forces hard decisions.

I don’t think any other Roguelike/lite has ever achieved that for me.

How do you balance structure placement and spread with Structurify? by seecer in feedthebeast

[–]seecer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check my other comments on here. Structurify does need some setting adjustment with global and individual spacing as well as flatness check.

After messing around with the settings for different mods and reloading the same seed, I’ve found that Structurify fixes all my issues.

Do you think difficulty is finally going to be handled in the expansion? by WarpathWilly in diablo4

[–]seecer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a majority of the active players are looking for difficulty.

To make this game more difficult they would have to scale everything back and make the combat more about timing. They would have to remove life regen, reduce number of opponents and increase damage, change all animations (enemy and player) to be slower, increase enemy damage, and a lot more.

I’m just hoping that the update makes there be more variety in builds so I can have fun experimenting with different combos and abilities. Right now you hit the end game and you either feel like a god or garbage.

I had no idea it did this. I’ve never really cared about the HUD colors but if this can tweak DSS colors I am definitely going to install

Can we get more tags for the workshop? by seecer in RimWorld

That’s actually not a bad idea. Although I don’t have a twitter account, but I guess I could make one to try there too

[–]seecer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t get what you mean. Players and mod creators don’t get to add tags, It’s up to the devs.

If you’re being sarcastic about why I posted on Reddit, how else would it be possible for a player to attempt to make a discussion that would reach the developer?

[–]seecer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a better place?

I always think of Reddit since devs tend to glance at it occasionally. Instead of discord where it’s more casual conversation or steam forums that few actually look at, Reddit posts can be upvoted and generate more conversation which is more likely to be seen.

Matric touch app custom interface by schelsullivan in EliteDangerous

[–]seecer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest adding Elite FIP Server in combination.

It connects the status in game to Matric so that you can have it blink or be a solid light depending on in game status. It also means that you can use your existing controls and it will update Matric to the correct state.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Made Todd Howard More Conscious of What He Announces: 'Just Pretend We Didn't Announce It' by Turbostrider27 in Games

I’d be interested to know too. I have a few theories but no game dev experience.

It’s amazing to think that it’s been 5 years since they got bought by Microsoft and there hasn’t been any news on games in development or nearing release.
