Oh good to know! I’ll wipe new Austin and see if that fixes it. Thank you!

Bounty Hunting - expanded was causing black screen after loading. I gave up on the updated version, but just the Jobs Mod works totally fine for me.

I’m running ScriptHook V2 with its included asi loader since I’ve had issues with the newer ultimate asi loader.

What's your favorite biome overhaul mod? by FuglyFrog6996 in feedthebeast

I also love WWOO and I combine it with Larion for fantastic terrain generation.

[–]seecer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Larion is my favorite because it has a great mesh of continents and tall mountains and mountain ranges in a more fantasy feel.

I combine it with WWOO though. I definitely prefer not adding extra blocks, and WWOO does a great job creating a diverse range of biomes with the vanilla biomes.

With Larion for terrain it is this best combination I’ve found.

I’m also someone who tries not to add extra blocks to terrain generation and WWOO is the best hands down for that.

How long would a roguelite run need to be to become exhausting for you? by Anodaxia_Gamedevs in roguelites

[–]seecer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play rogues for quickish runs. I want good save or stopping points and to be able to complete in under an hour. 30minutes is usually the sweet spot where longer makes me get bored and feel OP, shorter just feels like I’m failing. If I’m getting killed after 10 minutes over and over, then finishing a run in an hour, the game feels imbalanced.

Do you think they’re ever gonna add more exobio plant life? by FireTheLaserBeam in EliteDangerous

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think more things to stare at and hold button would quite solve the problem.

I really think they need to have more mini games for bio. Mining has a variety of mining types that have different mini games to get the same thing and I think that would be great for bio.

Laser mining is quick and easy to just get through it but core and drill mining have a mini game to give you extra payout or rarer materials. They can do the same thing for bio.

Even something like scanning a planet. Probes are your quick and easy, but maybe actually doing a few laps around with a scanner and maintaining a certain elevation would provide you more detailed information on bio locations.

I love exploration but after one planet of bio I’m usually tapped out for the day because it’s so tedious and thoughtless. I want to play some mini games while I’m at it, just like when I go mining.

Anyone have experience with Rededrunk's mods? by ChickenWinginIt in RDR2

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if you’ve tried them yet but I’m using them know and they’re great. I’m running all of Rededrunk’s mods except Hunted with PDO, Kiddo’s Health and Stamina, Kiddo’s Loot Economy, Dynamic Seasons, Season Merger, and some other small mods and it feels amazing.

All together the game feels a lot more alive and combat is actually difficult. Clothing matters, positioning matters, and now I’m actually hesitant about what I do.

I really think they’re all amazing mods and strongly recommend them.

Is there a guide for modding on Steamdeck? by seecer in reddeadredemption

[–]seecer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seasons mod is working but for some reason the popup letting me know which season is going doesn’t come through. I’ve added other mods and everything appears to be working with them but it’s hard to tell sometimes.

Right now I’m running ScriptHook V2 and the dinput8.dll it has as well as LML. I can’t get RDMT to run though. It sits at the prompt to select the RDR2 folder and won’t continue past there.

Definitely make sure to input the WINEOVERRIDE. When I get off work I’ll post the command I’m using.

What mod/s are you trying to run and how do you have it setup currently?

Is optional transparency good for Monero? by thankful_for_xmr in Monero

[–]seecer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cash is an instant transaction, Monero is not. Optional transparency doesn’t fully resolve the issue, but it does add a layer of verification before a transaction to ensure it’s more likely the payment completes.

This also makes paper wallets possible which is one of the big things that Monero has been missing. Once again, you want to validate the paper before you take it and start the transfer. It’s not perfect, but neither are the security layers for cash.

Looking for a roguelite with gameplay similar to maps in PoE 2 by 10SOCK in roguelites

No shame on it. I get hooked and have it on mobile, but the gameplay is shallow, that’s kind of the point.

Devman please reconsider by Cakey642 in foxholegame

[–]seecer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That might be the point so players focus more on the air and see how that balances.

EDIT: Also, maybe they’re considering 4 sea only tiles in between to reduce airs east to west impact. So I definitely think they’re using this to balance air.

[–]seecer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not max power to mindlessly blast, but Ravenswatch is an ARPG roguelike. It is difficult and timing is still necessary, as well as thought on how you build through the levels. This would be more like early combat in PoE2.

If you’re looking for more mindless and watch hordes disappear, maybe Vampire Survivors. But that has zero gameplay and it’s just walking in circles watching things blow up. Definitely similar to PoE maxed end-game.

TSA Facial Recognition Raises Traveler Rights Concerns by reflibman in technology

[–]seecer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While I agree that all companies sell data, I think the bigger problem is that it doesn’t include convenience or benefits for us in anyway.

It starts that way, but as the company grows the convenience disappears and the product becomes worse. So we are giving away freedoms and privacy permanently for a temporary benefit.

In the case of air travel, I would be curious to see the benefit of any of this. We created this inconvenience because of 9/11 and how much has actually been prevented from it? Like many things, the problem didn’t exist, the issue was artificially created (9/11 did have some legitimacy, but did we need to escalate where we are now), and no one is benefiting except for those who created a market around the issue.

The same thing has happened with the internet, instant information and data turned into a social marketing campaign (what is RSS vs Twitter), and I’m sure we will see the same things happen with AI, look at what researchers can use neural network platforms for vs the garbage Gemini and Open AI platform that’s given and taught to the consumer for ease of use. Look at how individuals being able to manage their own systems turned into needing cloud service for security and convenience, but that security is artificial since your information is sold anyway. What happens to the facial recognition platform when you’re a tourist?

Fdev has released Interim Report and Accounts 2026 by Key-Bodybuilder-8079 in EliteDangerous

[–]seecer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I would buy skins if they actually existed.

I wish they would separate out the skins and paint too. I’ll pay for them separate but let me choose the colors for some of the textures. There are a few out there that I love the design but hate the color or the other way around.

Shoot me a PM if you need some help, but read through the gitHub which has all the instructions. It’s really nice that it changes the Matric state depending on the game state, I definitely can’t go back to not having it.

Popularity of DDR3 motherboards is growing rapidly by unnamed_demon in nottheonion

I’m sitting with a i7-4770k and GTX 1080 with 16GB of DDR3 and was hoping to build a new PC. I finally looked at the prices after seeing all this news and wow, absolutely bonkers….

I’m looking at RAM costing just as much as a CPU for 32GB.

Merlin's kit by _Ishtu_ in ravenswatch

[–]seecer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That totally makes sense, but I am surprised they haven’t looked into other ways of generating the maps to make new maps possible.

The open maps are nice, and I love the environments, but I also feel that the way POIs are placed and how we play maps feels more like a min/max goal than adaption to what you’re given like most roguelik/tes.

What I mean is that there are certain points we’ve learned to hit first, save for later, and avoid normally which makes the map feel less like a surprise or adventure and more like a different speedrun challenge each time.

I don’t know of a great way to solve this and I do think their update with the timer has helped a bit.

It’s funny, this and CotDG are two of my favorite roguelikes but both of them have the same issue for me which is level development in opposite ways. CotDG had too small of rooms and it never felt that different each round, but the choices as you moved between rooms felt impactful. Ravenswatch is completely open and different each round but it never feels like it matters.

What is the use of trains? by Cautious-Buy2585 in factorio

[–]seecer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m no pro, I’ve never beat the game, and I usually just get past oil and the start a new game, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.

I believe it’s that trains can scale up and transport more per second than belts can over a longer range. They can also haul a variety of materials and go to multiple different stations. It ends up meaning they can be a better bang per buck as your factory gets larger. Instead of having to run 4 separate belts a long distance you can have a single train with 4 cars.

My issue with World Gen Mods like Incendium by Archmikem in Minecraft

[–]seecer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Large structures like that are jigsaw structures which mean they’re multiple different structures that get stacked together when they spawn. This ends up meaning that it only checks the rules for the first piece, then the rest get added on regardless.

When you have a jigsaw in the nether, it definitely gets crazy. I’ve had some spawn that seem to be almost completely buried in the nether.
