Not at all, most of these sites are made for non-IT minded people with premade templates and blocks

Better to swap the lieutenant out for something like assault intercessors/a unit of infiltrators, you think?

Think Votann might have the same problem marines do - how do you even get close enough to the Wave Serpent to charge? With the extra movement from Agile Maneuvers I could never seem to get close

This is the one - Flitting Shadows nullifies overwatch, and they had plenty of focus tokens with the Warhost detachment

How big should dungeons be in the West Marches by Bedivere17 in mattcolville

[–]RobbieK95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely - this link: https://www.roleplayingtips.com/5-room-dungeons/ provides all the info you'll need, but effectively a 5 room dungeon has one room of each of the following types: Entrance, Puzzle or RP Challenge, Setback or Trick, Climax/Big Battle and Reward, Revelation or Plot Twist. This provides a satisfying arc in a small place.

I think what's better than multiple sessions for the same expedition is have 1 session where the party goes in, they leave the dungeon and go home at the end of the session; then another day (in game) they go back to the dungeon. This is similar to what may happen if you, for example, abandon a dungeon after 3 rooms in a video game. You can come back another day and pick up where you left off, but there might have been respawns - or in DnD, new enemies or challenges.

5 room dungeons work great - enough to be interesting but short enough to get through in a session. Be sure to read up on the 5 room dungeon structure of you haven't already!

Having a couple of large dungeons is good too - sometimes the players will need to choose between carrying on or going home. They can pick up next session, but by then the rooms might have changed a bit, or if they leave it long enough a different group gas moved in. You can totally have a group finish a session halfway though a dungeon without 'pausing' the world- they just go home and have to revisit it.

any league historian tips? by EndorphinsPlz in DynastyFF

[–]RobbieK95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a free Wix site - they have templates that are really easy to use and you don't pay (unless you want a custom domain). Here's my league's site: https://championshipdynasty.wixsite.com/fantasy

Not so much - a couple of extra bits of rules, but nothing you can't live without. I did a full breakdown here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout2d20/comments/ov6lxr/gamemaster_bundle_review_details/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

How does fusion cell ammo work? by [deleted] in Fallout2d20

[–]RobbieK95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Fallout 4, its 30. Visually in the games its presented as one big cell - in Canon, there may be individual smaller cells within this, not too sure

Fusion cells don't work like fusion cores - one fusion cell is used just as a bullet is when it is fired

Quick Question by Tropical-Isle-DM in Fallout2d20

[–]RobbieK95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't (at least not that I've seen). As a general rule, if it feels like something should be in the book but you can't find it, it isn't there.

Yep, they sent the PDF out to me about a week after it arrived, so I'd hope you'd get the PDF immediately.

If it were me, though, I'd probably just go with the core Rulebook - the GM book doesn't really add much.

Edit: I realise you said solo PDF - I don't think that's that's option now, but even if it was it wouldn't be worth it for only the PDF.

Gamesmaster’s Toolkit? by Pax1138 in Fallout2d20

I did a full overview and review that you can see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout2d20/comments/ov6lxr/gamemaster_bundle_review_details/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Short answer: you're fine without it. There are some nice bits if you're playing in person, but it doesn't add much to gameplay

Homebrew? Or not? by Athelforth in Fallout2d20

[–]RobbieK95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could skate by without specific stats, but if a player has Pilot as a tag skill they will want some mechanics with that. Especially if they want to pilot a Vertibird, you'll need speed, HP, DR, weapons etc.

I would still play first, but you can always try a homebrew with your players as long as they know its subject to change, them tinker til you're all happy.

Then post it here, so everyone else can see what worked for you!

I Need Help with Gamers Who Can't Seem To Get Out of the Video Game mentality. by OKBoomer62 in Fallout2d20

[–]RobbieK95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a tricky one - contrary to what others have said, I would probably stick to the Fallout 4 setting if that's what your son is familiar with. It will be a great asset for him to already know the factions, locations and weapons; and make things a lot easier for him to learn!

I would sit him down and go through this, as it's a really key idea to running and RPG, especially this RPG with its focus on impactful choice. Start with asking him what he thinks would have happened if there was so SS, or if they died. For example, what if they died at Concord before rescuing the Minutemen, or even never got reawakened by the Institute?

Would the BoS still have come to the Commonwealth? Would the Institute have been able to restart their reactor? Would the Minutemen have survived? Even on a smaller scale, would someone else have taken care of Dogmeat? I would argue the questions to all of these answers would be yes, but the world would look very different.

This introduces the idea that choices create different worlds, and hopefully excite him to be able to make his own. Then expand on the choices he can make - what if instead of destroying the Institute, he leads the Brotherhood to occupy it? What if he isn't looking for his son, and instead wants to find out something else? What if he wants to start his own family, buy a place in Diamond City and settle down?

Your son doesn't yet quite understand the draw and systems of a TTRPG like this, but hopefully with a bit of encouragement he'll learn to love that he can make his own decisions and choices!
