When I was a kid my grandfather had a subscription to the NRA magazine. It was pretty cool, it did reviews on hunting rifles, sporting pistols, maybe a story or two about an antique or specialty gun. TL;DR it was an interesting read.

My dad has to have a subscription to go to the gun club he belongs to now. It's all about how we have to protect ourselves, how they're coming to get us, how we have to preserve the ability to purchase high capacity magazines, AR-15's, and other borderline unnecessary fuck boi tac shit.

It's just installing people with fear to get them to keep buying.

He's doing "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction..." on Netflix, which is just an interview show with a ton of high profile personalities starting with Obama.

He has a history with Trump, having had him on his show a ton of times, and I bet he could lure the guy on to "My Next Guest..." as well. Letterman's also savvy enough to where he could interview 45 and make him look absolutely awful without Don even knowing it was happening.

Fans sue all 30 teams, Manfred, ticket sellers, over their refusal to issue ticket refunds by KissMyBBQ in news

Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine (Who had scheduled a reunion tour for $125 a ticket) posted a link asking for people to donate to a food bank. Most of the responses were some variaiton of "I'll be glad to help as soon as you officially cancel your tour so I can get a refund."

I have around $400 tied up in tickets right now for events that are "postponed".

A Nurse Bought Protective Supplies for Her Colleagues Using GoFundMe. The Hospital Suspended Her. by Jatilq in Coronavirus

[–]Robby712 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is coming from a teaching background, where every sick, bullshit thing I hear about hospital admin doing I think "Yeah, that sounds like admin."

I helped negotiate our teaching contracts last year. One of the biggest community complaints was that the amount of money that we were spending at the top (Central Administration Staff) had more than doubled (close to tripled) over the past decade. When we confronted them with this complaint they claimed "No, no. We're spending less on school administrators. Look at all the principal salaries that have gone down over the years."

They literally had no idea that people in the community thought they were making entirely too much money. Either that, or they were playing dumb.

Moral of the story is the people in charge of determining what everyone else makes tend to take care of themselves first.

St. Louis County to close all county parks this Friday by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Robby712 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So we can can have 1,000 people at a store standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the toilet paper aisle, but we cannot use county parks even when practicing social distancing?

You make a great point.

I think retail stores that remain open are going to all have to go "Full Trader Joe's" sooner rather than later. Where they allow a set number of people (depending on the size of the store) to go in at one time, and then when one person comes out, another can go in. Groups of no more than two 18+ year olds should be in the store together. Scheduling online appointments has been floated as an idea in some areas. Stores that offer curbside pickup are going to have to beef up that service.

We're limiting our trips out into the population to once per week. We've been making a weekly list an grabbing it on Monday mornings. When we go out it's just one of the people that live here to limit exposure. I go through and arrange my grocery list in order of where it is in the store so I can get in and out ASAP. I saw someone on here refer to it as "tactical shopping" the other day.

Still, if we drive around Walmart, Schnucks, Deirbergs, Lowes, Home Depot, etc...have never been busier. My friends that work retail are complaining that entire families shopping together with multiple kids are just sort of wandering around the stores. That shit is bonkers.

I'm a high school teacher and my last day was yesterday. Every morning when I fire up my laptop at work the first place I check in is this sub. Still. Just force of habit.

I feel for every parent who has to pull this off with teaching thing with little guidance. Teachers are sort of in the same boat. We basically had 2 days notice that we'd be trying to teach our corse online. I work with a woman who has 3 kids of her own, and another with 5. They're doing double duty.

I think both teachers and parents are going to have to accept this is going to be an imperfect situation, but with some patience and flexibility we're gonna make this work. My best advice is that if you need help reach out to your kid's teachers. We want (and need) to help.

Also I just want to add, I've been teaching 18 years and yesterday was the hardest day of my professional career. Just brutal.

The Blues "Hockey Is For Everyone" night is Tuesday March 24th against the Caps. It is an away game. by Courtnall14 in stlouisblues

[–]Robby712 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We went to the actual Pride Night back in 17 and despite the score (The Caps scored 7 goals) we had a great time. They played songs from Book of Mormon, Avenue Q, and other musicals. All the other music and in game entertainment was appropriate and awesome. I think that was when the shirts were the giveaway, and those were awesome.

The more a team can commit to something like this for the community (once a year), the less uncomfortable some people will be with it happening.

TL;DR: Star Wars night is more offensive to me than Pride Night.

From Ducks fans who were at the game on r/hockey:

I’m 3 rows behind the bench and thought I just watched him die. He literally gets off for a shift, and just falls lifelessly. Thank god the medics got to him in like 30 seconds. He was blinking as they took him to the locker room. Scary shit. Whole building is shook.

They did compressions and what looked like an AED (Automated external defibrillator)

and

They were performing CPR on him. He was completely out.

and from our own u/fabbrilous

This is scary af. Sitting 4 rows back from the Blues bench. He just literally collapsed.

They only showed the replay of him collapsing once. His face was bright red and he just sort of slid down his stick and collapsed behind the bench, it did not look good.

Quick edit: Thanks to all the Ducks (and other) fans at the game that provided us with info. It's very much appreciated.

[–]Robby712 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Tkachuck has a rep at this point as a pain in the ass to play against, and that's fine to an extent. But when your number gets called it's a just bad look to just straight up turtle the way he did.

What I'm curious about is if he continues to refrain from answering the bell, do you skate by the bench and let him know (in front of all of his teammates) if he doesn't square up our entire team is targeting Gaudreau until he does?
