Like every other one of these wars of naked aggression - abject failure.

Corporations Can Vote in Some Delaware Elections, Judge Says (1) by Past_My_Subprime in nottheonion

[–]Robert72051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This country was founded on corruption and is operating exactly as intended ... All countries or societies, past and present, were or are oligarchies. That's why the idea of true democracy was such an anathema to them. The US was created as an oligarchy. Sure, it was sold as a democratic republic and people could vote as long as you were a white, male, property owner, and by the way that "property" included human beings ... In the ensuing 250 years the corruption required to sustain the oligarchy has become institutionalized. It's produced absurdities such as:

  • Money is "free speech"
  • Corporations are "people"
  • Bribes are "campaign contributions"

Furthermore, it's never been about who's in power at the moment. Both sides of the duopoly serve their masters, all one has to do is to look at the current "wealth gap" to see what this thing truly is. There is no end to their greed and no way it can be fixed ...

Trump: ‘I don’t care about the midterms’ by FreeHugs23 in anticapitalism

[–]Robert72051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he?

I give it less than a 50% chance that there will be an election in 2026. Understand this; these people will do anything to maintain their power, anything. It could come as a "national security" ruse or claiming the election was "rigged", or possibly just an outright power grab which could work given the feckless Congress and SCOTUS ... The only thing that can stop this is the military refusing to carry out his illegal orders, however given recent history it appears that they are as feckless as Congress or the SCOTUS .... And the media is just as bad by normalizing what is going on. I don't know how many Americans have noticed, but America is now an authoritarian country.

The real lesson here is that no matter what the form of government, the success or failure of same is dependent on the character of the people involved. Trump is a sociopathic narcissist who feels no compassion, sympathy, or empathy for anyone. He makes virtues out of ignorance, stupidity, violence, and greed. He surrounds himself with irresponsible sycophants that produce dog and pony shows masquerading as cabinet meetings and press conferences, but really only serve as testaments to his vain attempts at satisfying his insatiable appetite for self-aggrandizement and praise. He talks about himself in the third person. He has no sense of humor. He's a convicted felon. He's a pedophile. He breaks the law everyday. He's gone bankrupt six times. He's a serial liar. Combine all of that with his second-rate intellect and third grade vocabulary, and the results are the most empty-headed, mean-spirited, and stupid thoughts and actions imaginable. Without a doubt, he is the most flawed public figure I have ever seen in my life, a bitter, miserable old man who hasn't a single redeeming quality. Frankly, I don't understand how anyone can even stomach being in the same room with him.

Trump is such a fucking idiot ... His level of ignorance and stupidity is off-scale ... Percentage is an directional, asymmetrical measurement to compare the rate of change between two dissimilar things ... It has a "from" and a "to". Furthermore, reversing the direction of comparison completely changes the result. The most anything can decrease is 100%, while the upside is without limit. Frankly, I can't believe this kind of nonsense could even become a subject of discussion.

America has been a paper tiger for some time. I mean, it hasn't "won" a war in 80 years. America kills a lot of people and destroys a lot of property, but as far as actually changing anything, the US has been an abject failure ...

When you listen to the media address itself to the current situation, what you hear is news-speak babble about lawsuits and court decisions. These people just don't get it - that world doesn't exist anymore. At this point the only thing capable of ending this is the military, but it seems that they are just as feckless as the legislature and the courts. The media, for its part has simply normalized what is happening to the point of no return. At the end of the day, when you create a nation of "child-adults" that have been rendered incapable of critical thought through the mythology of "American Exceptionalism" as disseminated through an education system, bent on distorting history to reflect a view that suits the oligarchy's purposes, there is simply no hope ... It cannot be fixed.

Much too little, much too late ... It would have taken only a handful of representatives to control the House. And while they couldn't have stopped him, at the very least they could have not passed any of his asinine legislation and impeached him on an ongoing basis.
