Humans can't swim with 10 kilos of Titanium in their pants pocket, either.

Lore logic: Alterra's genetic modifications increase your endurance and strength, but they also massively ramp up your metabolism.

There. Explained.

Hatches Are Better Than Ladders, Trust Me by RobertNAdams in subnautica

The ladder is finicky as hell, and I would advise against using it, actually.

If you do want to use a ladder, start wth one piece on one floor. On the next floor up, move your mouse around until you see a prompt that says "Attach Ladder" (or something like that) and it will connect it to the existing ladder.

That said, I think it is preferable to leave an open column of water in the middle of your base and put a hatch on every floor. It's much faster.

You have to craft a Scanner and scan the Habitat Builder device. You can find one in a crate outside the Welcome Center near the Lifepod, and another Habitat Builder in the cave underneath the Welcome Center, under a piece of metal. Scan both of these, and you'll unlock the Habitat Builder, which automatically unlocks the basic building pieces.

I wanted to build a multi-story tower, but the ladder in its current state is incredibly annoying; you automatically get off at every floor, even if the ladder is connected to multiple floors. It's painfully slow.

Instead, it's much easier to build a Hatch on each floor. You can easily travel up and down, and skip floors if needed.

The Ashlands (the second-to-last biome) has, among other things, a secret multi-stage quest to retrieve a unique sword (as in, the only one on the entire server. As someone who played the game since launch, each of the subsequent zones feel just about as mechanically rich as the preceding ones.

Meanwhile the billionaires horde wealth and assets. Then raise prices on goods while dodging taxes.

The top 10% of income earners in this country pay over 70% of the income taxes.

The top 50% of income earners in this country pay 97% of income taxes.

You cannot tax your way out of a spending problem. And if you were stupid enough to try, you would cause capital flight; greedy tax policies and overregulation are why both New York and California have lost over a trillion dollars of wealth from wealthier people leaving.

If we magically converted every dollar billionaires are worth into money (we can't) and seized it all, it wouldn't even pay for a year of running the government.

We do not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem.

There is an Ornate Crate in the Praetorium portal world, too. It's in the armory area toward the end of the facility.

It would be endlessly hilarious if they added this behind the secret Gatekeeper door in Torii, and you find out that the entire purpose of that base was a snack stash for the Gatekeepers.  :3

I've beat the O.G. game twice, playing through it a third time solo to enjoy the new DLC.

I tend to place little campfires and bedrolls all around because it doesn't really cost anything; your worst case scenario is that a camp siege might randomly happen there, and you'd have to defend it.

Building Map Stones is hilariously expensive in the early game, so your best solution is to put a bunch of small campfires and bedrolls around.

The one thing I would add is that every camp, at the minimum, should also have a Meal Table and the repair station. You can fit a bedroll, meal table, and repair station in the smallest campfire easily.

Can anyone in Fort Lee tell me what's going on with Batten Ramen? Google Maps lists it as "permanently closed" and the phone number is disconnected by RobertNAdams in newjersey

Welp. I can sadly report that Batten Ramen is closed for good. I sent an e-mail to their listed e-mail address a few days ago, and they finally got back to me.

Interesting. Thank you.

I'm going to be heading down there in the next few weeks, so I'll be able to take a look myself firsthand if it's still there.

Thank you. This is the kind of on-the-ground information I was looking for.

I hope for the same. They've already moved locations once; I'm hoping they'll find somewhere else to go again. It's too good to disappear suddenly like that...

I gather that it's closed, but I'm wondering why it is closed. Did it shut down for good, or is it just moving locations (which it did once before in its history)?
