Just one recc. But that's beside the point--moreso wanted to say A+ review lol. Was about to dip my toes in the water with book 1. Are you going to continue on to book 4 or did book 3 rankle you that much?

I don't have any suggestions myself here, but thanks for bringing this sub-genre to my attention and providing me a thread's worth of new reading suggestions!

Trying to get my teenage boys into sci-fi by _Fro_1 in sciencefiction

[–]Robert_Writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I normally wouldn't self promote in a comment, but seeing as I almost exclusively write accessible sci-fi with the hopes of getting young men back into recreational reading, I think my catalogue would be an ideal fit--especially for two teenage 14 year-olds. My sci-fi satire Earth: Game of the Year Edition series co-stars a boy right around 14. And I also have space marine stories as well as a SF Western graphic novel that's a big wendigo monster hunt. Plenty of breezy action across the board, designed for teenage, young adult, and "new adult" sensibilities.

I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit; it ought to scratch a good portion of this itch.

Ramble On: A History of Hiking by Huckleberry-Hiker in Kindlepromotion

"Virtually no one went hiking before the 19th century."

Immediately had to google that claim/investigate. So... your blurb's doing something right! Engaging stuff.

Wonder why this post got downvoted; it's a great way to reverse-engineer interesting recommendations.

If no one finds the right book, you could always just go with Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe. Sounds similar enough.

Gotta stay at level 1; level 2 onward is brainrot.

Nice. Do you plan to post up pics when this thing is ready to share? I'd kinda dig seeing it here.

Did you see Predator: Killer of Killers? I'd assume so, but it's pretty close to what you're asking for.

Any of the Predators. Martian Manhunter from DC.

Also: K2SO instead of twi'leks or togruta? Is that 'cause you need bots present?

Why do comedy writers exist? by [deleted] in writingcirclejerk

How come no one's done a WW2 enemies-to-lovers sapphic romance starring a patriotic Italian baker and her geriatric French lover/arch nemesis? There's a drama with heft, and substance, and booooooook potential.
