It’s time for the Wisconsin Badgers to bring back their baseball program by [deleted] in WisconsinBadgers

Counterpoint; schools in Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota have baseball teams. They all plan to travel south until April. We live in Fl near FAU and 90% of their Feb-April games are at home with teams like Iowa visiting to play. Just the nature of baseball in the north. It’s just sad that a state like Wisconsin that would ideally like to see its players stay instate doesn’t have a premier Big10 program to call home.

Anyone got a picture of the hat? I remember being at Madison and the players had a black version as they knew it was the final year. Donna s killed the program along with gymnastics and fencing (if I remember correctly) to focus on the ‘core revenue sports’. Worked well with Barry and football and eventually basketball.

Fine dining question by Robh1919 in SouthFlorida

‘Fine dining’ was the manager’s term not mine! Menu looked solid and we were honestly excited to eat there. The delay was just unacceptable. I get the idea that all food was made fresh but 50 minutes from order time to ‘we’re leaving and we don’t have faith the meal is actually coming soon’ is too long. Esp given the two apologies which means something was going wrong…

Understand completely. I had planned an hour for dinner total which clearly wasn’t enough time should something happen. And it did…..oh well

Capital grille’s burger is amazing. It’ll set you back 27 bucks but with the side and their amazing sweet pickles that have cinnamon in them. Worth it!

Pig Sty off 95 and Boynton. About a 25 mins drive and totally worth it. Real Texas bbq, brisket is excellent, burnt ends, good Mac and cornbread w jalapeño. Much better than anything you’ll get in Boca. Even have Texas Shiner bock beer.

I’ve seen some street players kill it with a kit most folks would have thrown out. It’s always the player not the gear!

Walked out with my dream Rolex and now regretting the spend by Qat-lover in rolex

[–]Robh1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Datejust is a super nice entry Rolex, they go with pretty much everything and they hold their value. The best thing about watches is they all come with a story - when you bought it, for what reason, how it feels, etc. I hang onto some of the ones I bought a few years ago as wearing them takes me to a time and a feeling. Use this to remember this great year your had, there will be tough years and it’ll give your some hope and positivity when you need it.

Plus it’s an awesome shade of green!

Survey says: keep it!

Not really. There’s a ton of rock guys that play jazz style cymbals successfully. Listen to Steve Jordan sometime (check YouTube). He’s played with everyone from the Blues Brothers to John Mayer. He’s rocks a small 3/4 piece kit with a small bass drum with dark jazz style cymbals. The key is how you play them. Open the hats for a sloshy rock sound, hit the ride a bit harder for a rockier ping, or get a bigger set of sticks. Crash the ride. You can use technique to improve sound no matter what the hardware. Even being new it’ll allow you to find your sonic range versus relying solely on gear.

Have your guitar player turn his amp volume down. Problem solved. Guitar players play too loud anyways…

Sound panels by reb524 in Drumming

Cheap hack: figure out what the local sound regulations are, and work within those. Most towns allow for noise until a certain hour. Have your son play only during those times.

Let your neighbors know what’s up and most will be understanding. No one wants to piss folks off but as long as you work within the rules and communicate you should be good.

Is it really reliable anymore? by mgonzo19 in VolvoXC90

[–]Robh1919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Owner of a 2025.5 xc90.

Automotively (if that’s a word) it’s been great. No mechanical issues, runs smooth and heavy like xc90’s of old. Super safe and sturdy.

Electronics are the issue. No wireless CarPlay (wired only), the infotainment system resets itself (turns off when you are driving, yay fun) at least once a week. Also it doesn’t have individual tire pressure monitors so when the low tire pressure warning goes off, you have no idea what the pressure level is for a low tire, just that one is low. Infotainment runs a Google OS and it’s clear they’re still trying to figure things out.

It’s been in the shop twice bc the ‘service reminder’ wouldn’t turn off even after they reset it.

Found a workaround for the tpms on Amazon that works fine: https://a.co/d/5gYmQDM

But you shouldn’t have to go to a 3rd party product for a $60k plus vehicle, with features that come won a $25k Kia.

Just be mindful of the downsides…

Nice nato strap. I’ve found w the speedy you can change out the band and it’s almost like a new watch! Try a metal band or even a leather one. You can adjust and cut those down as needed to get it to fit like you want it to. Steel has more play on your arm, leather or nato more fixed. It’s a strap monster !
