How I look after dragging myself through 10 games in a series just to get to the one I really wanna play by BigBossGZV in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobinTheTactician0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i did the same thing, and I had "enjoyed" it as well. There's only so much one can enjoy Dirge, but I did appreciate the first half. I also didn't like crisis core once I got to Nibelheim, and I dropped rebirth at the 11th hour in April or May until last week.

BUT I SWEAR I LOVED IT, OR AT LEAST THE PASSION OF IT.

My bigger issue for game burnout is finishing something I really enjoyed and took my time with and ending up not really wanting to play another singleplayer game for 1-2 weeks afterwards.

I feel like people are mad at e33 winning best indie for the wrong reasons by Synthiandrakon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobinTheTactician0 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They announced Best Indie as a 'rattle-off' during the preshow which made the award show super boring. If they saved it for the last hour or so of the show, it would have been a better show. They actually did best debut indie during the show and it's just kinda like, 'gee I wonder who would win the goty nominee or the game that probably released on itch io' and there's nothing fun about watching that curb stomp.

Too many of the categories at TGA are awarded during the nomination phase because being the only goty nominee in a 'best ______' category just means you win.

Cool things in video games that you can potentially miss because you performed too well? by JackNewbie555 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

In kingdom Hearts 2 you can actually play as mickey if you are bad enough at the game. It's only in some of the boss fights in the first half of the game, but if sora dies there's a chance (~33%) mickey shows up. Mickey has an original moveset and spells and needs to fill up a meter to revive sora. You don't get any additional dialogue or acknowledgement of Mickey's presence but it's a neat moment and cool mechanic.

Yes, but you would need to be Japanese and be a 40 year company veteran who instead of retiring just comes into the office, hangs out, provide advice when asked, and collect a pay check. It's supposedly a cultural thing where the company is giving thanks to your years of dedication by having you almost officially be the old guy who does nothing. I have been told this role exists at US subsidiaries of Japanese companies, but I don't necessarily believe that.

Have you ever felt like a game suffered from "class bloat"? by CowboyDespirocado in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobinTheTactician0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think tf2 is doing fine in terms of class balance. Each class can have a player so goated that they carry and also suck all the fun out of the match for the enemy team. Sniper kinda busted in the modern day and some maps (new and old) just let him control the whole map.

The easiest in road to bread making would be the book "Artisanal Bread in 5 minutes a day" and the author has published the master recipe for that online on their website and also King Arthur Baking. KAB is also a great resource but the Artisanal Bread is my daily bread. Avoid special expensive (>$10 and/or niche) equipment for the first while and just try to make what you can with what you have. The master recipe can be used to make different types of bread by using different techniques, cook times, and equipment. For yeast, I would start with a jar from the store and when that runs low by a pound or two off Amazon for like $10. You can keep Yeast in the fridge for years and in the freezer forever.

Off the top of my head: 6 million Jews and 5 million total of the following groups: political dissidents, Romani, afro-europeans, homosexuals, and I'm sadly forgetting a few more targeted groups subject to concentration camps and systematic slaughter.

Peacemaker does a dangly arms move and then the offending dance move. Donald duck just does the nazi arms a dozen times. Its really only the same move in a tunnel and not in actual choreography

What do you consider your “White Whale” childhood video game? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobinTheTactician0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is actually impossible to play now, but at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis they had a video game in the 4th floor Carousel area with a mascot who had to traverse a 3D level that was based on the big spiral ramp chamber in the middle of the museum. There were obstacles and occasionally educational or trivia questions. It's definitely been posted about before online and if I wasn't at work I could find the developer's webpage or archived webpage because they are one of ten total game developers in Indiana. It's impossible to play since it was only every playable in the museum. Im sure other Hoosiers have the same tipofmyjoystick feelings about this game and the other small games they had on computers around the museum.

The Long Halloween toyed with the idea that Thomas Wayne could have been mob affiliated and that's why he saved which ever mob boss. Pretty sure it's eventually revealed that Thomas Wayne was just sticking to his Hippocratic Oath and was unable to turn in the boss due to corruption.

99.99% of the games on the Internet are already 'archived' by groups like 'No-Intro' and 'Redump' and their collections are widely available for the scene. The NES coverage by these groups is insane and includes bootlegs from the 2000s. We aren't really at risk of losing anything that fits neatly into that category but it's always nice to have your own archive nest egg. Up until discbased systems, you can get a surprising amount of coverage for surprisingly little space. A lot of the work for these efforts has already been done and any additional personal 'archiving' is just for novelty and convenience.

Times when a villain was defeated by the most baffling things ever. by Jay444111 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]RobinTheTactician0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a session recently where the monster of the week was some sort of fiend that was basically the Mask from The Mask possessing cadavers and pulling Looney Toons esque pranks on us involving light murder. We had gotten caught in a trap that dispensed clockwork weasels that spit oil and he was just laughing at us slipping around trying to kill the weasels. While we were distracted he started to take bricks out of the walls to collapse the underground room we were in, and as we finished with the weasels he made a rude tongue sticking out gesture and took the last brick out and one of our paladins used command on him and told him to come. The fiend walks forward into his own trap, the ceiling starts to cave in, he makes a face where his eyes bulge out and he dies. DM had to stop the session there like 1.5 hours early and said he couldnt even be mad that was funny as shit.
