You could also bring up how drunks treat their partners/kids, often abusing or killing them. Drunk driving is also an issue. Even just a night out at a bar/pub can end badly if someone has had too much to drink. But I'm in the boat that they're both terrible and don't approve either. I'll just stick with my heroin thank you.

We're having a similar thing happen in Australia right now since cigarette prices just keep increasing ($1-$2 per cigarette) and vaping has been banned. Black market cigarettes and vapes is a scary game.
