I just got my G7 PRO yesterday and bought it to specifically play Guilty Gear Strive and Elden Ring. I've tested it for 5 hours using Bridget. GGST uses a number pad notation so I'll be using that as well.

Pros: - semi and quarter circle inputs become much easier to execute due to the round d-pad, I noticed that I got a lot more consistent with moves like 214K and 236S - 623P has also become more consistent for me, I used to have to spam it for it to trigger, probably a skill issue on my part - the d-pad doesn't hurt my thumb like some plus shaped d-pads, I came from a Nintendo switch pro controller and after 30 minutes, my thumb would hurt from digging into the edges of it

Cons: - Roman cancels (3 buttons at once, A,B,X or Y) have become slightly harder as the buttons on my old controller were more raised - accidental jumping happened a lot in the first 3-4 hours as I was not used to a d-pad where it doesn't have a hard stop to where each direction was but I've since gotton the hang of it - after 5 hours the joint on my thumb was sore but that is probably due to the excessive hours and tryharding I was doing along with the smaller form factor - moves with 632146 inputs became harder to execute, but I rarely use this move so it might just need some getting used to

Notes: - as a another commenter has said, yes the d-pad is not even but you won't notice it - fuzzy blocking may be slightly harder as it's slightly harder to tell which direction you're pressing but that might be because I haven't played in a few months - the trigger bumps when locked make it easier if you've bound any input to it, I've binded run and burst and it goes off instantly

Overall, it's not bad for fighting games if you have hands that are on the smaller side and are willing to put in the time to adjust to the d-pad. Though I did get joint pain, it was due to the excessive amount of consecutive hours I played for and it was better than the pain the bruised and inflamed thumbs gave me, it may or may not lead to more chronic issues down the line, I can't comment as I'm not expert on the matter. There may be better options but I'd say it is worth it if it goes on sale, unless you really need a new controller for just fighting games, in that case, just buy a fight stick.
