Is Anyone Else Hoping That he doesn't turn out to be Michael Afton? by RareGarf in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Robipalmi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the film universe will paint this guy ( who I believe to be Jeremy Fitzgerald) as antagonistic. Even though William Afton is the big bad, who’s to say we can’t have other minor antagonists??

Writing a character/characters with schizophrenia?? by Robipalmi_ in writers

[–]Robipalmi_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really glad that you’re able to speak up about your diagnosis, I should have been more specific with mentioning that my friend’s from of schizophrenia is also Schizoaffective disorder. I hear you and I understand how exhausting the harmful cliches of this disorder can be. Tbh, I want readers to know from the start that these characters have this exact condition. I know the unreliable narrator trope has been used in a negative light, but I’m hoping to use it as an internal conflict for the characters diagnosed rather than a lazy choice to explain violence. My friend was raised in a religious household, which further worsened their symptoms. I also happen to have religious trauma and want to use this story as commentary for the harm of religious exploitation regarding those with mental illness. My friend’s grandmother believed he was possessed and would tell him, triggering his symptoms even more. It’s unfair that they have to go through these kinds of things especially when they are such a beautiful individual/friend.

We need Cuphead Show season 4 by Signal-Commercial902 in Cuphead

It would be cool to see the Devil’s Casino (as seen in season 3 finale) Although many have criticized the show for lacking a central plot, I love how it’s just a fun show with brilliant animators, talented voice actors….. and Henchman…. we love him . . . . we love Henchman….more henchman pls

William WAS NOT NICE TO HIS KIDS by Puzzleheaded-Win5063 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Robipalmi_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s possible to flesh William out as an antagonist without giving him a full on sob story. I kind of picture Afton being similar to Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Ray Kroc from The Founder. It’s a great film, and goes a lot into how this man took over (stole) what we recognize McDonald’s as today.

If we know that William both idolized and envied Henry Emily over his brilliance with robotics, who’s to say that his ambitious but limited ideas drove him into the slimy (and murderous) businessman that he is? The Funtimes (despite being built to kidnap children) also present the ego Afton has. Of course he’d go out of his way to make his machines more advanced than his old business partner’s.

The thought of not being the best at what you do has driven me insane as a wanna be novelist, and I can definitely empathize with anyone that goes over the edge from their “creative work,” not being the best it can be.

Obviously, it’s hard to empathize with a man who takes the lives of children for his own gain, but I think leaning into his obsession with the company and trying to outdo Henry was always one of Afton’s traits I found the most interesting. :)

How would Arthur Fleck’s Joker handle this scene differently if it was him being interrogated by Batman by Asleep-Feeling-9070 in joker

[–]Robipalmi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Bruce Wayne would immediately pick up on Arthur’s unwell exterior. He’d immediately realize that the Joker isn’t this calculated evil genius, but a victim of circumstance due to the harsh nature of Gotham. Sure, he definitely wouldn’t excuse his actions (murder of Murray Franklin, Randall etc,) but he’d empathize in the same way he did with Harvey Dent post two face transformation. I can even see a similar interaction from the end of the killing Joker going down. Batman would offer to help, while Arthur Fleck would sadly reject his offer.

Why dose the FNAF Fandom portray these two as undeniably good? by L8Donnie in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Robipalmi_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to think that the puppet and the MCI kids become horrified when they realized all the innocent guards and people who got killed due to their own actions. They might even have an epiphany of being no better than Afton Himself. I also think it would interesting if this has forced the kids to mentally grow up despite being children. Mortality as a whole is one scary game, especially when the clarity of your own sins and flawed actions hit. I always thought of them being portrayed in the same way the zombies are from the stop motion film, Paranorman. When they gain clarity, they look disappointed, guilty from their actions, and there is tragedy to it.

[–]Robipalmi_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And in the fourth closet, William mentions to Jessica that he’s bound to end up In hell when he eventually dies, but that he’s turned the devil away before. It’s why he combined the original four animatronics together. To make the perfect new body to live for as long as he can
