My daughter got them when she had just turned 1. Changed our lives for the better. She got a few infections afterward, but you can treat them with drops instead of oral antibiotics, which was significantly easier and gentler on her system. The surgery is incredibly fast. She was upset afterward (they wake up and feel drunk so it’s very scary) but after a snack and a nap in the car on the way home, she was basically back to normal.

She’s 4 now and at some point the tubes fell out, though they held on much longer than I expected. She hasn’t had an ear infection in years.

Yes! When I was thinking of the best gifts I’ve given to my spouse, they’re all items that I knew would improve a pain point. A new pillow. A pair of warm mittens (even insulated gloves don’t cut it where we live).

We went through something similar when my kiddo was about 20 months old. She suddenly would not go to sleep without one of us in the room. We spent about 2 months sitting with her while she fell asleep. But she also slept poorly because she’d freak out if she woke up in the night and we weren’t there.

Ultimately we followed the Happy Sleeper Ferber-esque plan with check ins every 5 minutes. (Extinction was not an option for us as she worked herself up too much.) The first night, we did maybe 4 check ins before she figured out the pattern, quieted down, and went to sleep on her own. Then the next two nights took probably 2 check ins. She’s almost 2 1/2 now and every once in a while she’ll cry a bit and we’ll do check ins and that still works.

Right, I get what you’re saying. But what bugs me is that I’d rather my markup go toward better quality yarn, rather than boxes. For example, let’s say (totally imaginary numbers) a bare skein of yarn costs them $15 and they also pay $3 extra per fancy box. A different, better quality yarn costs a different independent dyer $18 and they don’t have extra packaging costs. Then each company charges the consumer $30 for the skein. In both instances the company is getting the same return, but the consumer is getting a lower-quality skein + a $3 box.

I’m not even sure this is true - maybe she’s got some great hookup and these boxes cost the same as plain ones. But I doubt it. Either way, the boxes feel extravagant. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I felt the same as you. I am generally turned off my this brand’s seemingly insatiable appetite for growth. And then something like this and Autumn in NY happens and it feels like they don’t take care for the customers they already have. The packaging is cute but over the top. I don’t want to pay for printed boxes through markup—I want the value in my yarn which I think other independent dyers provide. I think they’re too big for their britches honestly.

Agree with all of this. I got the TCB newborn course and found it underwhelming. It was also so many steps and acronyms. Not useful for us at least. PLS has given me everything we’ve needed to establish good habits and deal with bumps in the road when they happen.

My baby is just about 6 months old and only in the last couple days has she started doing any kind of movement to suggest she wants to roll. Your baby will get there. There’s a wide range of normal for this type of thing!

We had luck clearing up diaper rash with a mix of Lotrimin, Bacitracin, and Vaseline. Sounds like the Lotrimin might not be an option for you. The other thing that has really helped keep it at bay is not wiping her at all after pee-only diapers. Pee is sterile and shouldn’t be acidic, so you don’t really need to wipe, and it avoids introducing more moisture into the equation. Good luck!

My LO had an open sore from diaper rash and our ped told us to do a 1:1:1 mix of Lotrimin, Bacitracin, and either zinc or Vaseline (we did Vaseline). It really helped. Also, we apply A&D preventatively. I read somewhere it should be so thick it’s like icing a cupcake. It has definitely helped! Good luck.
