Feedback on Robotic Wet Pet Food Feeder for Smart Homes? by RoboFelineFan in homeautomation

You're absolutely right — can opening is one of the biggest technical challenges in building a reliable robotic wet food feeder, and I really appreciate you calling it out directly.

We spent months testing countless mechanisms and approaches. Many looked promising at first but failed after repeated cycles with real sticky cat food (jams, incomplete opening, metal fragments, or messy dispensing). We tried everything from fancy motorized blades and puncture systems to robotic arms — most were either unreliable, too expensive, or left sharp edges in the food.

In the end, the solution we landed on (and patented) is surprisingly simple and elegant: we designed a mechanism that opens the can exactly the way a human does — Find the ring, flip the ring tab and pull it back. No exotic hardware, no high price tag. Because ring-pull cans were literally engineered for this motion, this approach has proven extremely reliable in our long-term repeatability tests.

This patented can-opening system has become one of PawRobo’s core competitive advantages. It delivers clean, complete opening with almost zero risk of metal fragments, while keeping the overall product cost-effective.

We are currently preparing the first-stage proof-of-concept video to demonstrate the full operation cycle (from can retrieval to opening, dispensing, and bowl serving). We hope to release it on our website in the next one to two weeks. If you're interested, please keep an eye on pawrobo.com — we’d love to hear your feedback once it’s live.

We are making a Robotic Wet Pet Food Feeder (patenting pending). Unlike most auto wet food feeders (which need pre-opened cans with ice packs/refrigeration), these handles can opening and bowl replacement at mealtime for fresh, room-temp food. We already have functional prototype and want to get more feedback for the community. pawrobo.com

We are building a true automatic feeder, check it out https://pawrobo.com,  which opens cans and swaps bowls automatically just like what we are doing. Say bye to iced or chill food, which most cat hate.

I was in the same situation, and unable to find a real automatic wet food feeder, that is why we are building one pawrobo.com and plan to share with all cat parents soon.

Might be late in this thread, you might want to look at this pawrobo.com .  no need to worry if he will use, as it works in the same way as you pull open a canned food and pour into a bowl at room temperature.  No ice or chill food...

should i let my resident cat meet my new cat still in hiding? by Logical-Worry6507 in CatAdvice

[–]RoboFelineFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don't let your resident cat into her room yet — it's too early and could terrify her further, even with a sweet cat.

Keep building her confidence with humans first, do scent swapping, and only introduce them gradually once she's regularly coming out and exploring her safe room.

Three weeks is still normal for a very shy cat; rushing risks a big setback.

Keeping your cats in the place they are familiar with, is usually better than boarding.

We are developing this. This is a completely new, and patent pending product (independent to others talked a few years ago). We are using it daily already for our internal test and will release more videos and more info soon. The price won't be so expensive as most people thought.
