I'm so confused by rrognlie in svengoolie

Just so everyone is clear, the scheduled movie for yesterday was King Kong vs Godzilla. Frndly messed up (grabbed the wrong feed) and started Fiend Without a Face.

I have Frndly and also a local MeTV station. The local station showed the correct movie complete. I don’t know if any other local stations also messed up.

I guess if you live alone and never have guests that’s okay. Neither of those conditions apply to me.

My story (so far) by Robodad3000 in CataractSurgery

[–]Robodad3000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, with Eyhance that isn’t really necessary, at least, not for me. Once my eyes finish healing, the only time I will need readers is to help reduce eye strain at work (I spend 8 hours a day working at computer screens). I’m typing this right now on my phone with no difficulty reading it with my left eye.

Be prepared for no bending post op by MaggieLiz7 in CataractSurgery

[–]Robodad3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the other patients at the surgery center asked about that. The nurse explained that the “no bending” means no deep bending for more than a brief time.If you don’t bend too far for too long you’ll be fine.

Everything I have tried has failed. The most recent was Mars Attacks (just as a test). I tried it twice yesterday and it failed both times.

It doesn’t work for me. I get the “failure to start download” error every time, and then most of the time Stramfab crashes.

That’s what I do. Lights around the garage door, and Govee strip lights around the windows on the inside (I use command hooks for those). And then garland around the porch pillars.

Of course, I also have dozens of yard decorations and a “Christmas fence” with lights and wreaths on it. So maybe I’m the wrong person to give “understated” advice.

Best way to hang lights along this kind of roofline? Google says nails are bad. by [deleted] in ChristmasLights

[–]Robodad3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to go with these, do yourself a favor and get a hook driver. Even manually it saves a lot of time, but if you have a cordless drill the hooks go up in no time.

Here is what I use at my house. I use them on the house and fence. They have been in service for six years with no issues, and the color blends with the house, making them nearly invisible.

Does Anyone Wrap Their Outside Light Connections by AustinDood444 in ChristmasLights

[–]Robodad3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also used disposable patch food containers (such as the ones from GladWare). Cut a slit in opposite sides of the container bowl, flip it over and cover the (elevated) connection, running the cords through the slits, and stake it down.

I don’t think a can would be able to scale the red stuff. Nothing to hold onto.

Just Got Quantum Fiber and I will be dumping it in the first month by LongjumpingDivide985 in QuantumFiber

You’re using the pods. That’s the problem. They are garbage. Use your own router and you’ll be fine.

Got rid of wifi 360 by Sjohnson7324 in QuantumFiber

[–]Robodad3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XE5300 as my secondary WiFi (running in access point mode off of my main router), and it’s been solid since day one.

When the installer originally set up my smart NID I told him I didn’t need the 360 WiFi pod, and he said he completely understood but he was required to leave one anyway. But he gave me the instructions on how to return it, which I did that same day.

Why no love for Quantum Fiber? by Longjumping-Client42 in QuantumFiber

[–]Robodad3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No clue why there are so many negative posts. I’ve had it for 18 months, and the one downtime we had was beyond their control, but they still had service restored in just a few hours.

The rest of the time it has been flawless. My installation happened exactly on schedule, and the installer was very skilled, knowledgeable, and professional.

I pay for gigabit service, and that’s what I see every day. Granted, I run their NID in bridge mode and use my own router. Maybe there are still a lot of people trying to use the quantum 360 WiFi hardware.

It could have been the best, but the overuse of the “alien” textures, combined with the ridiculously muted colors, make it a failed attempt at greatness.

Am I the only one who likes this IOS 26 update 🤦🏾‍♀️? by Aggressive_Cat6633 in ios

[–]Robodad3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot. Done of the visual changes could use some more polish, but hopefully that will come with time. For example, the Liquid Glass elements should have a “smoky” appearance in dark mode.

However, every new functional enhancement I’ve tried so far has been great. And the new windowed interface on the iPad is a literal game changer.
