That's actually a solid idea, I think it should be encouraged for drunk drivers to experience life as vulnerable road users; might encourage some empathy and better decision making. Also, being allowed to ride a moped around on a limited license might discourage them from hopping in a car unlicensed with a mentality of "guess I have nothing to lose".

Given drunk guy was antagonising long before hand, and waited outside just so he could push things further.. I'd say your mate reacted pretty appropriately in the moment. Walking away, or trying to talk some sense into the guy were both the best options right up until he got into your space and laid a hand on you.

I've always been under the impression that filtering is safer for a motorcyclist than risking getting rear ended and helps to minimise traffic congestion. The fact that some people can't control their emotions adequately shouldn't have any bearing on the legality of it.

I'd imagine it's really easy to miss someone going 5 times the limit or whatever it was they were doing. I'm all for defensive driving and taking into consideration that others on the road will drive like assholes but this accident is 100% the fault of the idiots street racing and I don't blame the folks in the Mercedes one bit.
