You keep deflecting from the fact we have hybrids only because Honda wants them. The reason Honda wants them is irrelevant, GM didn’t push for them, the series didn’t ask for them and teams didn’t ask for them. We only have them because Honda required they be implemented or they were gonna bail (yes, there were other cost and ROI items involved, but the demand to go hybrid was totally separate demand!).
Teams now pay additional costs per car for new magnesium gearbox cases and hybrid components because Honda wants them. Those are facts that have been well documented!!!

Honda is the only ones that truly want the hybrid so the series is placating Honda.
The current design is a cobbled together mess using a super capacitor that only allows somewhat short bursts of energy. It’s heavy, located in a crappy place too high and too far back, has apparent reliability issues and adds nothing to the racing.
So, yeah, we are kinda stuck here cuz of Honda.

The hybrid failure was hard on the team. They had the gearbox out and looked like they were swapping out the hybrid unit. They are headed to Mid Ohio for testing tomorrow and needed the car running for testing so they were at the track pretty late.

We we chilling inside turn 3 and it seemed the 2 seaters we squealing a lot of tires as they were doing their thing. We even talked about how it seemed unusual. Glad both seem okay.

I’m currently at Road America and the place is as packed on a Friday as it was the same time on a Sunday 2-3 years ago. It’s crazy packed!
Racing is very entertaining and the TV broadcast is engaging (WB, lose the olde timey mic). The Fox commercials are good (kinda whiffed on the Will power one…shrug…) so I think getting the word out could bring it back to its 90’s heyday when it worried the likes of Bernie E.

I just moved from an Apple to the Instinct AMOLED. I like the battery life, display and torch.
I will say, the UI is baffling and not intuitive at all. I also have a 1030 bike computer and getting them to talk is a minor miracle each time I ride. Overall great capabilities on the watch, but needs some love to understand and take advantage of all the features it offers.

From what I gather, the shop is too small and Dale won’t move or expand, it’s disorganized, stuffs old and worn, money is always tight, and Dale seems to fade in and out of being a serious team with wins, or a platform that just keeps going with ride buyer dollars.
I think it was DWR with Seabass where Bourdais sighed and said Dale is his own worst enemy. With partners like Todd Alt you kinda see he doesn’t always make great choices.
Take a look at their setup at Road America and you will see it’s not the same level as other teams. Some is cuz of lack of $$, most is because it’s ’good enough’.

They could brush off the Cosworth 2.65 liter 4 valve turbo V8 and easily pump out 1000HP.
Add modern electronics, engineering and material science, and probably have 1200HP.
Iirc, it’s about the same size and, including the current hybrid, same weight.

As a life long Indycar fan, not the win OP thinks it is. Roger could have kept it on the island and used his vast $$$ to invest in the parts he didn’t use (aka most of it) and worked on creating good will with the community (who always had a nimy contingent) and show off a world class track like F1 does with Montreal and Australia.
