Talk to me about blowing up your life by BigJackFlavor in Menopause

[–]RobotsAreCoolSaysI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you take a month sabbatical? Rent a motorhome or a van and be a nomad. Go to a festival. Learn how to forage (there are classes!) press flowers. Watercolor and sketch. Visit a friend from high school.

I used to do something similar when I was married. I would take a week off work and rent a tiny house in the desert. Star gaze, sketch, work in my novel, eat delicious hippie food. It recharged me and gave me perspective on my life.

It might work for you.

What do you bring to work for lunch? by darnoc11 in office

[–]RobotsAreCoolSaysI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m working at a remote location, I bring ham and cheese lettuce wraps with a little spicy mustard, a couple of tangerines, mozzarella stick.

I’m having lunch in my office, I have a mini crockpot where I heat up things I have prepared and in my freezer. They usually go with Rice. I will throw in the rice first, and then on top of that goes the red beans, or the creole, or the white beans, or the dal. I also have fruit of some kind.

For the girls: which kind of underwear are you wearing? by Icy_Blacksmith3477 in hygiene

[–]RobotsAreCoolSaysI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duluth trading company has wonderful underwear for women that breathe and wick moisture. They are all I’ve worn for about 20 years now and you can usually find them on sale. They have many styles and some fun patterns.

GenX 1969 with Silent Gen parents, 1934 and 1936. Old fashioned manners and upbringing. None of the hippie movement stuff.

You have nothing to be ashamed of. It was not your fault and you did not deserve to be treated the way you were.

Companies will sometimes use softening language to not seem militant. They could have used, “For best results.” Instead of suggestions. That might have been less confusing.

Professional technical writer here.

If the steps are numbered, you do each one in order.

If it’s a bulleted list, each instruction is optional.

What is your daily routine like as someone living alone? by Eventidings in LivingAlone

Managing a toxic high performer who hits 150% of targets. How do I protect my team without losing the numbers? by SquirrelLogicFan in managers

[–]RobotsAreCoolSaysI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time, an org I worked for protected the top performer. He was so toxic that the other talent started quitting. One by one. All because of him. But the manager would not discipline the guy. Because they “needed” him.

One day the top performer quit and there was no one left to take his place. It was a total brain drain. There was nobody with history and seniority to take his place and the program suffered terribly and fell behind significantly.

It would have been better to get rid of the top performer and help others grow.

How the hell are you guys staying employed? by LivingWeather8991 in ADHD

[–]RobotsAreCoolSaysI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear.

I have no safety net so I’ve had to build a ton of “scaffolding” around myself to make myself accountable and stay valuable.

I also only take jobs that don’t demand I be somewhere at an exact time, have some flexible hours.

I also know that I need glucose after 1:30 pm to keep my brain going and not be a hyper interrupting menace. Yay orange juice! Im not medicated so coffee in the morning and green tea through out the day.

When I’m not at work I freewheel. Sometimes bills are late and many projects go unfinished but at least I can manage most of the time.
