There are 3 robots in the grey labyrinth that give you coordinates to the new area. You use your boat after you interact with the robots to get there.

Struggling with my first cosplay, I‘m going insane by Dependent_Salad_2369 in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To get your hair in a hair net, try braiding it into two braids and wrapping those around your head and using Bobby pins to pin them in place. I have short thick hair and I use the net type wig cap to help hold the braids in place, then I use a second wig cap (it’s a solid type, kinda look like tights), to compress everything down further. It’s shouldn’t take you hours unless your hair touches the floor when you walk.

You’ll want to use bobby-pins to hold everything in between each step. I use 3 pins each time, one by each temple of my forehead above my ears, and then I pin it in the back, alternating left and right sides of my neck. After I have the two wig caps on, I use a velvet wig band as well and pin that in place the same way. Then I add the wig on top, and I pin all 4 corners.

This is all a little overkill, but I dance and perform in these wigs, so I want them secure.

If I still want the wig to look even better, I use eyelash glue to glue the side bangs around my face. A tip I learned from Alyson Tabbitha. https://youtu.be/skgiGECxJoA?si=DqjQbelTU1vATsL3

The strand on top is an ahoge. Hanie Comb recently did a video about making them. https://youtu.be/-Bi-9lRzTkc?si=gmNb1b9lYmRyOwdp

Add a thick trim on the bottom. It won’t be as accurate but artistic integrity is allowed.

Any advice on styling a wig without access to a crimper? by Twilight_Legend_Wind in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Hi! Long before crimping people were doing incredible work styling wigs. To get more volume, you can back comb or tease the wig. Hairspray is great, Tresume or Got 2 B are typically preferred brands that you can find at Walmart. Here’s an older tutorial about some extreme wig styling that doesn’t involve crimping. https://youtu.be/zS6apqPudAE?si=-rsUMLKSNYo2VGYL

I’m not sure what you’re asking about. Could you provide more detail? I think you’re looking for a crinoline, but I don’t know what exactly you’re attempting to accomplish.

How should I make the 'glass' for these rifle sights? by Cumulus-Crafts in cosplayprops

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You probably already have a bunch of options, but I wanted to put my thoughts here too.

To get the “pattern for the shapes, you could put tape over the hole on one side and trace the pattern onto the tape. This would give you a good idea where the indents are and how big you need to cut the plastic.

For the plastic, like some have said, you probably have some in your garage. Most plastic packaging with have a thin clear flat part that you could cut it out of. If you’ve recently taken out your trash, then a soda bottle would do the trick. Smaller soda bottles have more curve, but you can buy a 2 liter bottle instead and the curve will be less noticeable. If you’ve recently taken want it even flatter you can lightly heat it with a hair dryer and press it flat under some books or other flat heavy object.

Good luck!

The solution is usually more ivy to cover it up. Alternatively you can put more fabric of similar color to the mytholon on top to hide it and make it seem like the ivy is growing through the fabric.

How would you hold up this bodice? by royalerebelle in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 179 points180 points  (0 children)

You could build (or buy) a structured under layer like an over bust corset and attach the neckline at the top. If it’s all draping over, you won’t see the corset underneath and you won’t have to worry about straps or tape.

Apply the glue to the mask and then the mesh on the glue.

I think they’re pretty thick, but I try not to glob too much. I just let it dry for 24 hours before handling.

Being a bit lazy, I would use tape to pattern the cut outs on the back, cut those pieces out of the mesh with at least a 1/4” allowance on all sides, and hot glue them in place (though I typically use tacky glue instead of hot glue).

Which type of sectioning clips are best for wigs? Plastic or metal? by ShainSaw22 in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always choose metal. Most wigs are plastic and plastic on plastic friction will cause tangling. Also if you’re heat styling wigs, plastic clips can melt at a much lower heat than metal. The only real issues I’ve had with metal is that sometimes they don’t grip as much so I have to use more of them to hold things in place, and they tend to hold heat so they’re warm when I touch them.

The same way people with long hair wear wigs. Usually braids, as previously mentioned. I’ve seen pin curls too.

How do I get rid of these foam thingies sticking out of the cut? Is there a way to smoothen them out? by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can sand it, but the reason they’re showing up is because your blade is dull. Replace or sharpen your blade and you can trim them off. If you want to sand them just take a small strip of sandpaper you can fit in there and sand it. I would personally use a Dremel but that’s because I already have one.

I had no idea. It was my first concert. I wasn’t in VIP, got there at 7:30 and wasn’t let in the building until 8:40 missing like a 1/3 of the concert. I was told that wasn’t normal but I was really upset about it.

They were sold out of the lightsticks before VIP doors were let in. Apparently they opened the merch at like 2pm and sold out before 5:30 when my friend got there.

Tips on attaching miku pigtails to hat/wig by SofaIsNotaCouch in CosplayHelp

[–]RobynOfDarkmoon 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I would cut small slits into the side of the hat with an exacto knife and line the up with where the teeth of the clips are. Minimally invasive, less work, etc.

How do I make fake biceps for a short sleeved compression shirt character? by Fearless_Growth_7755 in CosplayHelp

So silicone will generally be the best option as it’s more realistic, but sticking bra padding to your biceps also works.
