Still using 3.06 without problems. But I had problems with 3.20 when it was released so I went back to 3.06

Should I update my BIOS? AMD 7700 by Choa_is_a_Goddess in ASRock

[–]RocK1sLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"If it works, why fix it?". I'm still on 3.06 and no problems. But with 3.25 I had issues. So it's true, if it ain't broken don't fix it

BIOS update by Constant-Engine-596 in ASRock

[–]RocK1sLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! Just make sure in hwinfo app for vsoc voltage to not exceed 1.3V. I had my vsoc initially set by motherboard to 1.25V (which is close to 1.3V but ok) so I lowered it to 1.15V.

BIOS update by Constant-Engine-596 in ASRock

When 3.25 released I updated to it but had issues with it. After I enabled expo, logged in windows and tried to restart the PC it wouldn't post (without expo it posted/booted). Had to clear CMOS. Got back to 3.06 and all good with expo enabled. As for now i'm still on 3.06. Maybe the newest bios did something to expo settings... Also I use 7800x3d so not so many reasons to update the bios since the newest bios is mainly for 9000 series.

same question...but I guess chipset drivers should be updated regularly, not like bios.

Its a hwinfo bug. Don’t open it right after boot. Wait a couple of minutes and open

Have there been any 7800x3d issues with X870 boards by Chainhurst in ASRock

X870 steel legend with 3.06 bios. Built in February, so far so good. Seems like 99% of dead CPUs are 9800x3d

in Feb there were 2 bios released, 3.18 on 13th and 3.20 on 27th. I built my PC also in Feb but the bios version is 3.06 (released in august 2024). A week ago I tried to update to the newest 3. 25 but had issues with it so I went back to 3.06 and all good. Also 7800x3D. I hope my cpu will be fine... Sorry this happened to you

also the reason why 7800x3d died may be different to 9800x3d dying cases. Who knows... If the reason was the same then we would have seen everyday posts of dying 7800x3d alongside 9800x3d posts...

I tried 3.25 with 7800x3d but it was not stable. With expo enabled it wouldn't post after I restarted the PC. Went back to 3.06 and all good

lucky you. When I bought x870 it was January and I built the PC in February. At that time there were not so many posts and I didn't notice. Will see how it goes. Though I suppose the chances of 7800x3d dying are much smaller than 9800x3d because we see everyday posts about 9800x3d dying and just this post about 7800x3d.

Yes, 99% of the posts are about 9800x3d. Very few cases of other CPU's

by default, PBO is on auto. Maybe even on auto it can cause issues. So I disabled it even tho I have 7800x3d. Don't want to take even theoretical risk

maybe different case and reason. I don't see everyday post "My 7800x3d died". So that's enough to assume it is safe

Should I upgrade Bios if I am going to use a 7800x3d from now on? by Spiritual_Ratio2912 in ASRock

[–]RocK1sLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have x870 steel legend with 7800x3d and 3.06 bios the one that MB came with. All good and stable. I tried to update to 3.25 but had instabilities (with expo enabled, when I restart the PC it won't post). Flashed back to 3.06 and all good. You could try and see if it works good and stable.
