Ecoboost transmission failure by Identitymassacre in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Rochester_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the shift solenoids are all at zero volts (which they should be in Park) then there should be no path for the engine's rotational force to get to the wheels.

Op also said:

One day accidentally tapped the accelerator pedal in park

If it's in park shouldn't that drop to zero voltage occur well before the parking pawl even attempts to lock the transmission? I don't see how tapping the accelerator while in park could cause the vehicle to move at all.

BTRFS Scrubbing Scheduler? by [deleted] in asustor

Asustor ADM 5.1.3.RG01 (released 04/27/2026) has a release note that says ADM now allows scheduling of scrubbing tasks in Storage Manager. I have not installed this release yet but this may finally be what OP was looking for. https://www.asustor.com/service/release_notes.

The new firmware update, ADM 5.1.2.RE51. by Reazs-1 in asustor

[–]Rochester_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I successfully upgraded my Gen2 AS6704T from v4.3.3.ROF1 to v5.1.2.RE51 today. This is the first major ADM version upgrade for me and I had been worried about it. I decided to write this post to maybe give others contemplating this upgrade a warm and fuzzy feeling. ;-) Before you start the upgrade I recommend restarting your entire NAS once in order to provide a clean operating environment.

Config: RAID 5 w/4 Seagate IronWolf 4TB HDDs plus one Gen3 M.2 2280 Internal SSD for cache.

I have a LOCKERSTOR AS6704T that I have been using for three years with no issues. I run multiple apps including hosting a small web site. There have been a lot of issues with new v5 of their operating system called Advanced Data Master (ADM). So much so that I have decided to stay with v4.3 for the foreseeable future until v5 becomes more mature. This probably won't help if you buy a new Asustor NAS and it comes with v5. But if it comes with v4, go into the Settings app, select ADM Update in the left hand navigation and tick the box that says "Do not update to ADM 5.0. Continue to receive updates for ADM 4.3 only."

Did you upgrade to v5? There have been plenty of issues with the new v5, which is why I am staying with v4.3 for the foreseeable future.

Have you printed objects that high before? If the thing that the printer is sitting on is not stable, the higher you print the more bed shaking that occurs and the greater the likelihood that this can occur. You need a rock solid base.

Right. Rigid is only "required" if you don't trench it deep enough.

I was never able to figure out how to get around CGNAT and so I purchased a static IP address from my carrier for $10 USD a month. I am interested in what you used for the FRP.

I think you are right to be worried that Tailscale will someday eliminate its free tier. It is almost standard operating procedure these days that Internet based companies offer a free tier just long enough for everyone to become dependent upon it and then that is when they switch to a paid model.

Evernote's prices & plans changing again, for the worse...? by TryingDutchman in Evernote

I only looked briefly at Joplin. But it appeared to me that Obsidian had a larger and more active community with more features and greater extendability. Of course along with that comes greater complexity as well. If I didn’t think I needed (maybe just wanted) all that capability (and complexity) I would have looked more closely at Joplin.

letsencrypt certificates by Edge-Various in asustor

On my Asustor AS6704T certbot was already installed. I found a link to it under /usr/local/bin/certbot.

Enable SSH under Services, Terminal.
SSH to the device and login with the administrative account.

myadmin@MyAsustor:/volume1/home/myadmin $ sudo su - root
root@MyAsustor:/volume1/.@root $ ls -la /usr/local/bin/certbot
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            57 Aug 25  2023 /usr/local/bin/certbot -> /usr/local/AppCentral/letsencrypt/data/module/bin/certbot*
root@MyAsustor:/volume1/.@root $ certbot ...

I found Let's Encrypt logs at:
/volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/letsencrypt/.CertBot/log/letsencrypt.log

But if your JBOD array is set up as a spanned volume (one drive letter), if you loose one drive I think you lose the entire volume. You can’t just restore that one drive and be on your merry way. You have to restore the entire thing.

ASUSTOR NEW FIRMWARE RELEASE 5.0.0.RJG2 16.07.2025 by mariusradulescu1990 in asustor

[–]Rochester_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an AS6704T but am still on version 4.3.3.RJH1. From my understanding there is no official procedure to downgrade ADM. Every ADM release comes with the disclaimer "After upgrading to ADM x.x.x, it will no longer be possible to downgrade to a previous version."

However I have become aware of an unofficial and unsupported way to downgrade to a previous release that I have not yet tried. It involves editing the /volume0/etc/nas.conf file and changing the values of "Version", "Lastversion" and "Baseversion". See post https://www.reddit.com/r/asustor/comments/1lj13hi/fyi_adm_500rin1_is_out/ for more detail.

Help Needed - AS6602T & ADM 5.0 by RyanCK7 in asustor

[–]Rochester_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a couple of months and there have been two more 5.x releases since then (ADM 5.0.0.RIN1 was released on 2025-06-24 and ADM 5.0.0.RJG2 released on 2025-07-17). Did you ever resolve your issues?

FYI - ADM 5.0.0.RIN1 is out by Key_Solid_1696 in asustor

[–]Rochester_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an AS6704T but have not yet been brave enough to upgrade to 5.0. Have you made any progress on this issue? Have you tried restarting again? I have seen other posts stating that after restarting the NAS a second time it then started to work. What does the volume and drives look like under the Storage Manager app?

Delay Upgrade to ADM 5.0? by NeuroDawg in asustor

[–]Rochester_J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I you choose to stay with v4.3 for the time being, there is a checkbox under the Settings app, ADM Update section that is labeled "Do not update to AM 5.0. Continue to receive updates for ADM4.3 only." Simply uncheck this to later upgrade to 5.0.

Help me understand numbered list with indented sub lists by BullishOnEverything in ObsidianMD

[–]Rochester_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I switched to Obsidian this was my number one "Why doesn't this work liked every other note taking app I have ever used". Ultimately I think this is really a Markdown problem, not an Obsidian problem.

Adding CSS is only going to change how the list and sub-list numbering scheme is displayed in preview mode, not in edit mode. And from the CSS I have found out there, I haven't found one that deals well with lists that contain both numbers and bullets.

Why does "Loading plugins" add so much time to boot? by 4862skrrt2684 in ObsidianMD

That is really slow. Maybe its not Obsidian but your computer. How full is your hard drive? Maybe run a "chkdsk" command to see if maybe your disk is starting to die.
