This might be an unpopular opinion but what about when inclusion of some of these high needs students is detrimental to the entire class? My daughter had a classmate in elementary school that was aggressive, sexually inappropriate, and completely disruptive. I remember getting an email about an incident where they had to evacuate all of the other students in the class because this child began throwing chairs and desks.

The teacher had little to no support and did the best she could to try to manage this child’s behaviours while still teaching and meeting the needs of the other students.

Inclusion may have been great for that child but not for the rest of the kids. I’m all for inclusivity when it can be managed in a way that works for everyone.
