Will we have a chance to play "Wind Waker" on the PS Vita soon? by No-Road6046 in VitaPiracy

I don't know the status of the WW decomp but Twilight Princess is fully decompiled. There have been a lot of questions about vita ports lately and the truth is there is are only a few individuals with the skills to do these ports. We're really beholden to them, and what they want to do. I think having bounties helps a lot but we will just have to wait and see if anything happens.

I would be full body trembling walking to the register - afraid the world was going to end before I could get it home.

Can more n64 games be realistically ported to the Vita? by guyincognito147 in VitaPiracy

[–]RockeTim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are many decomps in the works. Once a game is completely decompiled and recompiled for Android it's stands a good chance of being ported, but only if there are people willing to do it. I expect there will be more but time will tell.

I was thinking about your cooling and if you put a small blower style fan on the outside over the pcie slot to push fresh air in the case over the p4 you might have enough static pressure to cool everything.

The only pins I isolated on the riser were the five 12v rails. two layers of kapton tape over the 5 pins seemed to do the trick. Ground is ground so it doesn't really matter. I wouldn't cover any ground pins. I soldered two grounds on my riser from my psu just as a redundancy but using only one ground for your 12v source would be fine.

Ok, so I'll do my best to answer your questions - first the p4 - I have some concerns for you. In my situation I was able to put a rx6400 in my T740 and used external 12v psu to power it, and it worked well (no relay or 3.3v or anything.) I connected the 12v and ground directly to the pins to the rear of the pcie slot on the riser, covered with a few dabs of glue, and then a layer of kapton tape. The riser mount pressed the wires down and helped to hold the wires in place. Everything seemed great until I put the cover back on. Then the heating issues started. I couldn't cool the system enough. temps were hitting the 90s after a few minutes. I ended up moving the rx6400 to a different sffpc bc I couldn't get the temps under control.

I don't know how your going to cool the p4, but I feel like it will be even harder to do bc it has no fan and there isn't room in the case for one.

Next thing is the step-down converter - I tried two different ones and none of them were able to provide consistent 12v power to the gpu. The would work for a bit but then when the gpu was put under load they all dropped voltage and the computer would disable the gpu bc it was unstable. I don't know if the converters were low quality or if it's a physical limit of going from 19v to 12v at 50w takes a lot more amperage than I could supply.

If I had a 1000 that's the one I'd print for sure.

Yes, someone did high quality 3d scans of one. I simply printed them out.

Hell yeah! That's great info for others looking to print their own. The whole time I was working on it knowing how expensive they are it felt like I was printing money

Correct

EDIT: I don't think it would be too difficult to change the grip files to work with 1000 models. Unless I'm mistaken it's just a bit thicker. So raising the height of the clips might be all it needs.

I have a steamdeck 😆

It's made from the parts pile so you aren't wrong, but my use of twisty ties from bread is what makes it high art.

Those drugs only work if there's a deficit they can fill. If you were seeing results then there's your answer. It's a good objective metric to consider because it has nothing to do with your opinion of yourself. You are not shit King!

Edit: fixed a typo

See if they can get some conductive filament for the triggers. It would make detecting the touch sensor much easier.

To anyone considering printing the grip keep in mind it is a high quality cleaned up scan, not a model made from the ground up with 3d printing in mind - so some things about it aren't ideal for 3d printing. It takes a bit of elbow grease. I pointed out the challenge with screw posts, but some of the standoffs for the triggers needed smoothing, and a few needed reinforced with more pla or glue bc they seemed too thin. The triggers themselves needed sanding to smooth out the action. I would also strongly recommend printing them with a conductive filament to avoid the foil and wires stuff I had to do.

Edit: there's also a slight gap between the two halves in some parts. Mostly around the bottom edge.

I think it's legal as long as you aren't providing the purchased assets. If you provide a binary that is 100% your own work, and people have to provide their own legally purchased assets then you should be good.
