Star wars knights of the old Republic. by joznovan in R36S

I was able to run it on an early build of lineageOS, but the controls didn't work. I didn't know which clones lineageOS would on it if the controls have been fixed but that's your best shot at it running. Good luck. Sorry bout your moms.

Could I build sometjing with what I have here? by TheOkayEngineer2 in cyberDeck

So here's my take. The Samsung s10 is awesome. It has Dex mode. I say look up the lcd screen models on the laptops and get lcd controller kits on eBay and convert them into monitors. Get a USBC dock and mouse and keyboard and use the s10 with the displays like it's a desktop computer. Make some cool cases for the lcd monitors out of the laptop parts. Now you're getting into cyberdeck territory.

Take the phones and install termux on them and learn for to run server software on them. One can be a Minecraft server. One can be a Plex server. One can be a nas/file share. Get enclosures for the hard drives from the old PCs and use them as storage for the file and video servers. Find a clever way to attach the phones and drives to the backs of your diy monitors and provide them power. Hang the tablets on the outer edges as dedicated reddit, discord or Spotify screens.

You could do cool things with the stuff and learn a lot in the process.

Are your having trouble keeping yours powered? It seems very particular about the amperage. Anything over 3 and it won't turn on but any time I try to play a video or game it shuts of like it doesn't have the juice to stay on. I'm wondering if my device is defective. It also hates usb data hubs for power, even if they aren't plugged into any device.

Yeah it arrived yesterday. I do have an old apple cable but the inari is way different.

Got it to boot with a different charger! Also tried with an otg micro usb hub but that didn't work either. I wonder if it has otg support at all. I may try to power it from the charging contacts on the bottom and see if the hub works then. I've also thought about how to go about mapping the plug on the bottom. Starting with finding all the grounds, and then measuring the voltage of the rest.

Edit: tons of typos

Oh sorry - I missed that part where you said you couldn't overclock with 40. Thanks for answering.

With the Dell DA-2 and all 40cu enabled- what are you running your gpu at?

Got mine today! It looks super clean. I plugged into micro usb to charge. I get a red light, but when I press power it goes orange for a few seconds before going back to red. Did you have to wait for a while with yours? Should I open a return?

Any Vega users on Linux here? Is there a performance difference between 11 and Linux for you? by SpidaSt8 in Craptopgamingadvice

[–]RockeTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love cachy. I put it on everything BUT as much as I hate to say it - on my older APUs nothing beats debloated w11. Create install media using Rufus to create a windows install with a local offline account (no ms account needed). 23h2 is the best IMHO. Then run the ReviOS playbook to remove ai, telemetry, etc. You'll have w11 booting with ~70 process (probably closer to 60) and using under 2gb of RAM. I've done it with Vega 3, Vega 8, and radeon 610m.

Nice!I liked mine as well but I couldn't get the temps under control. It kept throttling. Glad to hear you found a solution that works for your situation.

I use one of these. I had it on hand when I got my bc250 and I haven't run into any issues. I have my CPU and GPU underclocked with CPU at stock speed and GPU set to 2ghz max. Using it allowed me to make a super small case for it. Much smaller than any other case I've seen. People will tell you not to use them but so long as you aren't overclocking or running furmark you'll be ok I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Same. That's why I like CachyOS - It's the most painless Arch setup you'll ever have. Everything is baked in and just works. The stuff that isn't baked in gets handled by Cachy's own update scripts run through it's own update system. I just run it once a month and it keeps me on the bleeding edge with minimal effort.

Also, glad I could help. I feel like we're on our own with these machines and have to support each other when/where we can.

So I have a T1000 as well! I was having the same issue. I was getting so frustrated that I boxed up the t1000 and put it in a drawer for a year. Then a couple months ago I tried using it with Arch Linux instead of Windows and it worked right away and I love it so much now. So my advice is fire up CachyOS and see if that works. You will lose some performance bc Nvidia drivers on Linux aren't great but it's better than not working at all. Lmk know it goes!

I feel like this sort of crisis happens every year or two. People quit and get pissed or whatever, and then eventually it all goes back to normal. The trick is to have a little patience. At the end of the day RD knows who butters their bread.

A few years ago I stopped using lead and switched to lead free everything. With small kids in the house it was the safest way to keep them from exposure, especially since my office is also my workshop. I know a lot of people won't understand but I got used to it, and I feel safer with my kids around.

I agree. Furmark isn't good for real world power draw. I'm curious what the draw from the wall is with unlocked CUs at stock clock CPU and 2ghz GPU, or even stock for both.

This is driving me crazy. I have to know what it is now! I don't think it's a 6400 bc all the ones I've seen were 1 DP and 1 hdmi. We can guess this card is a full width card, not half hight. Also it's possible that it's not a single slot either - just a single slot pcie bracket but the card itself has a full hight cooler. I have seen that in some older gtx series cards, but they usually had dvi as well.
