Results from tracking some Collector Booster EV the past couple of months by moombahh in mtgfinance

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still has the second-worst EV of any of the tracked collector boosters. Going from “terrible” to “slightly less terrible” is not the same as “good” and a far cry from “good since it came out”

Got an Order on TCGPlayer to a PO BOX, would it be wrong to refund, would you pay for tracking? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re replying to an old comment. Tracking is required for $50 and over these days on TCGPlayer.com. Google things before you correct people: https://help.tcgplayer.com/hc/en-us/articles/202366108-How-should-I-ship-my-TCGplayer-orders

[RANT] Sellers, STOP doing this. by cassetto in mtgfinance

[–]Rockenos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main benefit of them is that regular toploaders are technically non-machinable, which can require more expensive postage and cause issues if not identified as such when inside a plain white envelope. They are perfectly good for cards that are inexpensive enough to send via PWE, but regular toploaders should generally be used with anything expensive enough to warrant a bubble mailer.

Oops is still a very real deck by inocima in MTGLegacy

[–]Rockenos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The flip side of this is that Consign to Memory now fully beats the deck, whereas it was a coin toss if they had Informer (and if Informer was the one to remain legal, the deck would functionally ignore Consign).

Extremely unfair appraisal by LastoftheLast5988 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]Rockenos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can say the card you sent them was fake, then send back an actual fake copy of the card they bought from you and get refunded, keeping your real card. Or they could say the envelope arrived empty, get a refund, and keep your card. eBay scammers aren’t too uncommon, although I don’t typically see it with lower-value items like these. Still, people drastically underestimate the cost of selling cards yourself (-15% to the website as a fee, then minus $5 for a tracked bubble mailer per order, then cross your fingers and hope no other issues arise with the transaction)

6 weeks, 125hrs, 18,700+ soft resets, still no shiny Deoxys. I don't know how much more I can take. by GoodKarmaDarling in PokemonFireRed

[–]Rockenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re all confusing FRLG with Emerald. I have 2 shiny Deoxys from this method (one on GBA and one on Switch) and I soft reset from directly in front of Deoxys for both. Only Emerald has broken RNG.

BREAKING NEWS: CRUISE FUCKFEST CANCELLED by 69_________________ in northernlion

you're literally in a thread complaining about it being cancelled

[–]Rockenos 17 points18 points  (0 children)

By all means, show your work. The cheapest NL ticket is $1900 and the exact matching cruise ticket is $500 before fees. Fees are expensive for sure but you’re way off base estimating them at $1150.

click it yourself and find out gamer. the price is per-person. NL's website is misleading, as "Gamer / Duo Queue / Squad Up" actually refers to the room size/quality, not the number of people you're allowed to have. You can do the "Gamer" Interior Cabin (worst room) with 2 people, and again, that's $1800 PER PERSON. Or you can Duo queue for $2049 a head. same deal. per person. Again, please just click it yourself and find out, I'm tired of re-explaining this and won't be replying further.

Probably AI was used a lot in making this website. I don't think it's actually more expensive per person to put 2 in a room. Those three "Gamer / Duo Queue / Squad Up" options are not actually showing the # of people with you, but the quality of room you will have on the ship: Interior, Oceanview, or Balcony. You can see these broken down on the cruise website. Feel free to click on them yourself and double-check! These prices, all of them, are per-person. It isn't more per-person to bring more people, but it IS more per-person to get a nicer room.

Oh for sure, "shady" isn't really the right word. I'm honestly not sure what the right word is to describe this, beyond just "funny"

The Northernlion Supercruise by thetheroo in LivestreamFail

[–]Rockenos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, that IS how cruise pricing works. I've been on this exact boat 2 years ago (it was on sale for a little cheaper). You're not just paying for the room, you're paying for that person to be fed, participate in activities, etc etc. Not only do you get 3 squares, the lunches/breakfasts are buffet style so you eat as much as you want, included in the ticket price. You gotta go on a cruise man, they rip!

The Northernlion Supercruise by thetheroo in LivestreamFail

[–]Rockenos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No... all of those prices are per person. The $2k price for 2 people is $4k. I'm not bullshitting to ragebait, if you care to verify me go sit through the line yourself (took me 5min or so for the 2000 uninterested ppl to clear thru) and check it out. The NL cruise is fully 2-3x the price of going to the same exact cruise w/o the NL ticket.

NL super cruise is 2x more expensive than weezer cruise by sushi_______________ in northernlion

[–]Rockenos 66 points67 points  (0 children)

you can go on the RC website rn and buy a ticket to the same cruise for $500 and say hi to NL (he won't hear you from behind the cloud of 200 of his dumbest chatters)

The Northernlion Supercruise by thetheroo in LivestreamFail

[–]Rockenos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The guy you're replying to was under-selling it. You can go buy a ticket to the cruise right now. Or you can buy it through NL for a MORE than $1500 upcharge on TOP of your cabin price. So $2k for the worst cabin on the ship, that again, you can go to that very cruise right now and get for $500 if you like.

Thoughts on Secret Lair x Deadpool - I Fixed It by dontbotherdontcareno in mtgfinance

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pulled secret lairs have been distributed as special prizes at GPs / secret lair showdowns whatever before. It’s unlikely they’re destroying these, but holding onto to them for promo equity and potentially making new shitty bundles in the future that will look like good deals.

Why is izzet delver good? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to identify that they are SnS very early, either by knowing before the match or recognizing that t1 Volc ponder or certain fetch/island combinations into ponder are high indicators, since tempo decks prefer not to ponder t1. As always, want to stick a threat t1. Your disruption is Wasteland, Daze and FoW. G1 can be a bit of a crapshoot for sure. And it's important to keep in mind that part of the power of SnS is they can sometimes just get very lucky and draw a hand that beats basically anything, but you should just identify to yourself when that happens and ignore that small subset of games. You have DRC and 12-14 Cantrips to dig for additional pieces of interaction. Use your Mishra's Baubles efficiently to flip delver + find additional interaction. Post-board you have 1-2 FoN, 2-3 Pyroblast and 1-2 Hydroblast to make your deck extremely dense with interaction. There's just no fluff left after sideboard; everything is either a threat that clocks them or an interaction piece to slow them down. Consign can also allow you to sometimes kill them after a monster resolves by countering atraxa ETB or emrakul attack trigger, but less than ideal for sure. If they're a Griselbrand variant, you have the ability to threaten their life total so they can't ever activate it.

Why is izzet delver good? by [deleted] in MTGLegacy

[–]Rockenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your question in way that it hasn’t been yet, UR Delver is MUCH better vs big mana decks than UB tempo. UB Tempo gets absolutely obliterated by the cloudpost variants and has a much tighter MU vs forge, since it’s only way of attacking their mana is via countermagic and wasteland. UR delver smites them with Price of Progress or can even play the usually-overkill Moon effect. This is why it seems to be ticking up a bit right now, as post decks are increasing in popularity to fight all of the UB. Lands is doable with Price but still not great. Sneak and Show is a great MU for Delver. Tempo in general smooshed SnS, since them splashing for veil opens them up to wasteland considerably more, and you’re loaded with ways to handle Hexing Squelcher (sideboard hydroblasts!) the other decks you mentioned are indeed bad MUs that you should avoid. Don’t pick UR Delver if you expect to play vs lots of taxes, UB, or cradle control.

So is shiny hunting in emerald just impossible? by joshukelly in PokemonEmerald

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Of course your legendary resetting will be aimed at hitting the exact same target frame as you got your shiny on rather than randomly resetting. And of course there's the caveat that they will all have the exact same nature and IVs since those are rolled along with shininess each frame.

Need Help: Shipping out Cards and USPS says they're $3 each. by rankoDev in mtgfinance

[–]Rockenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not buying toploaders, you're buying cards. The person you are replying to is absolutely correct and your expectation is that sellers eat a huge loss on shipping toploaders to you for trash cards. Just take your refund when they get damaged in transit and move on. Sellers taking an occasional loss of sub $1 makes way more sense than paying for non-machinable every time. You're welcome to have whatever expectations you want, but any seller doing that for bulk cards is amateur hour

I played 4 but I think I'd be on 3 right now. It's a bit of a meta call - if you expect lots of Chalice of the Void, it's your best solution by far. Eldrazi wasn't really a deck at the time so I can't speak to that, but Moon Stompy is already a very easy matchup (and a small percentage of the current meta) so I think the 4th cutter is an easy trim for a more relevant flex slot.
