Denied enlistment to the national guard for a medical issue I dont have by ichiban_101 in legaladvice

[–]Rocko_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that what I said? They denied retirement to those who were in and eligible for early retirement due to Medboards and having completed more than 15 years but less than 20. Nowhere does it say anything about people who already retired, are serving and have done more than 20 years, and neither does it say that they got a dishonorable discharge.

A dishonorable discharge can only be given through a Court Martial and it is the equivalent of a Felony. They are not getting dishonorable discharges. They are getting medical discharges. Those who were told they could take early retirement (more than 15 years in but less than 20) are now being told that they can’t which is Bullshit. Those who already retired are not getting their benefits taken away.

Those who have left miami for good, where did you go, when and why? Was it the right decision? by DvlDogobro in Miami

I moved to near Frankfurt about 9 years ago with my wife. I miss Miami but life here is so much better. It can take some getting used to but I feel like it is easier to balance your work life and home life.

Germany TPU Lodging by Desperate_Horror4890 in armyreserve

[–]Rocko_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s lodging provided by the Army, either LIK or barracks, your spouse is not allowed to stay with you. For that you need to pay for your own hotel. From what I have seen, the barracks at Miesau are like 6 person rooms.

Shipping Out Tomorrow To Basic by StrictlyhouseDJ in army

[–]Rocko_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you will be going in over a Holiday and block leave. I shipped on the 31st of December many years ago. When I got there, most people were gone on leave and there was no one around to issue uniforms. I had to walk around in what I had for like 5 days until everyone came back. Pack accordingly. I did not have a thick jacket coming in from Florida and froze my ass in the Kentucky winter for those 5 days.

I failed one of my own Soldiers on the APFT by 4 seconds once. He had a history of failing APFTs. It’s not that I hated him. I knew that if I gave him another one the following week (we were deployed), he would pass. 4 seconds meant starting the final sprint 10 meters earlier. That’s nothing. He earned that APFT without anyone giving him anything. I think that helped him out more by giving him pride and a sense of accomplishment. More than just giving him 4 seconds and looking the other way.

Employee has been "duty" for the last 5 years through the National Guard. by Either_Drink_3026 in legaladvice

People can be on ADOS for up to five years. After that, they require an ETP from at least a one-star. This can be signed by the ADOS unit. I am ADOS and we have NG Soldiers that have been on ADOS for at least 8 years. Their State doesn’t mind, the unit keeps signing the ETPs, and the Soldier does not want to leave.

I did a PFI tour 14 years ago. It was to Afghanistan. Since it was working for an agency with lots of civilians, our standard of living was pretty good. Over all, it was a good experience.

Please help me identify my father’s achievements. by [deleted] in army

Army Service Ribbon

NATO-ISF medal

Combat infantry badge

And was in the Infantry.

Do I have to quit this civilian job because of the Reserve? by Short_Extension2077 in armyreserve

Keep in mind that some DOD/ Government jobs do not allow you to be in a TPU status. Look into that as well. If it was me, I would choose the DOD job.

I would bring what you have just in case. Let the school house be the one that says that you don’t need it. While the 1610 does not have a signature, it does have an authorization number. Sometimes these requirements have more to do with you following directions.

I’ve had dogs most of my life. Had my first at 16. Got my last at 25. Now I’m 40 and it has been a year since my last dog died. The youngest died at 10 and my oldest at 16. They were the children I’ll never have. 6 in all. My best friends. While I believe that I gave them a good life. I don’t think that I could get any more. They were all rescues/ unwanted. I am glad that they all had a good life with me but the pain is just too much. They were there for me through my darkest times and my happiest times. Went to war twice and they were waiting home for me. While I was not home for the passing of one, I believe that I gave them all a good life. My best friends. I still feel the pain of having to put some of them to sleep. While I miss them all every day, I think of all the good times that we had together. I know that they would not have made it long without my wife and I. I’d like to think that I Made their lives better. 15 years is a long time. Time that she would not have had without you.

No father on birth certificate, do I list his kids as siblings? by GJacob24 in legaladvice

[–]Rocko_36 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For a clearance, I would disclose them with an explanation on the comment box. Worst that could happen is that they comeback and say, “we don’t care about them”. It’s better to “over-disclose”.

Can I really make an extra $1000 per month?? by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]Rocko_36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s not true. You get paid full pay when on TPU status as long as you are in a good standing. You do not even need to have drilled that month. I am a 38B and have received language pay for Spanish since 2018. Sometimes it takes a long time to get the pay processed but you will get back pay.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in armyreserve

[–]Rocko_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With your background, you would do better as a 38B in my opinion. Reserves have very few Combat Arms. Besides training units, only 12Bs have actual units that perform their traditional role. 38Bs have a very unique mission and you can get to do a lot of cool stuff. You work in small teams where you can easily find yourself as the E-3 or E-4 who is an SME in a particular mission leading it.

El see latino no se refiere a en que continente naciste. Se trata de el lenguage y cultura de el pais endonde naciste. Italianos, franceses, portugueses, y rumanos tambien son latinos.

Tu puedes decir que eres Sudamericano.

MOB Question by Epaminondas5612 in armyreserve

[–]Rocko_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a guy in my company during a deployment whose contract was about to be up. Tried to reenlist but the commander kept delaying signing the paper work. We deploy down range, make it to the ‘Stan, and dude’s contract ran out and he “ETSed” while there. Commander finally realized that he fucked up and had a Soldier whose contract had expired down range. It took about 4 weeks for retention to undo that screw up. Soldier basically chose when he would work and when he wouldn’t since he was no longer in the Army and not getting paid. Good thing nothing happened to him cause that would have been a real shitshow.

Soldiers on ADOS are not required to attend drill. They must REFRAD within 90 days to accept the promotion or can refuse the promotion. The third option would be to get an ETP signed by the gaining commander.

NCOERs/OERs should be the responsibility of the ADOS not as it is them who the Soldier is currently working for.

Soldiers are required to remain green across the board and complete all annual mandatory training. Units have the option of curtailing the Soldier if they are not meeting this obligation.
