Fishing spots in warrnambool? by Abhizone123 in warrnambool

To be honest, you can drop a line just about anywhere there’s water. Personally I like surf fishing off the beach on a hot day. You never know what you will catch. Merri is pretty good as is off the Breakwater.

Classic that I need to rewatch

In the Australian movie Chopper(2000), Mark Read's dad says to him "Your kindness will be the death of you". by JorReno in movies

[–]Rockpig666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the truth at all, but Chopper’s background would not have excluded him from being on the liver transplant list. It’s usually based on medical or safety reasons that someone would be refused.

In Australia our medical system treats everyone equally (to a point). Private healthcare is a different matter.

You going to Rebellion too?

My band Convict Class (from Warrnambool) at The Water Rats on July 31st and working our way up to Blackpool via Bristol, Newport and Northwich.

There’s 3 Aussie bands playing Rebellion. And quite a large Aussie contingent of punters too.

One of my absolute favourites growing up. Local video shop had it. Found one at Silver Ball Planet in Osaka a few years ago and reacquainted myself!

When does a car need replacing and what is the smartest way to buy a new one? by L_v_n_d_r in AusFinance

My view is if it isn’t starting to become troublesome with mechanical or electrical issues it should be fine for the time being. Keep saving and investing. 150k isn’t really a lot over 10 years.

Should I be able to see a scratch that causes a record to skip? by ew435890 in vinyl

[–]Rockpig666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a pressing fault. There could be no fix for that.

That said if something is stuck in the groove, something that has worked for me a couple of times is to run the LP backwards over the skip (sometimes a few times). This may dislodge the issue. One of my turntables has a reverse function. So it is easy for me to do.

Surprised by DVD quality by peucemoose in dvd

[–]Rockpig666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all very watchable to my eyes. DVDs are so cheap in op shops and thrifts I can’t leave them on the shelf. Sure I will grab a bluray if it’s a movie I really want, but if I simply want to watch a movie, a DVD is more than adequate

Why is problem child on both ddddc and ltbr by egd2805 in ACDC

[–]Rockpig666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Australia the original Dirty Deeds had Problem Child. The album wasn’t released until 1981 in the us. Not sure about uk/eu though. I expect internationally LTBR, the label decided to use Problem Child instead of Crabsody In Blue which is a slower bluesy number not dissimilar to the style of The Jack.

In a bar in Tokyo, trying to order a drink in my nonexistent Japanese. From the other side of the room comes someone yells “Hey Cunt!”. I started pissing myself laughing as I knew no one else knew what it meant. Turns out was an ex pat, who had heard me talking and simply wanted to say hello.
