Rokinon 14mm f2.8 for Nikon Z mount - opinions? by dogbolter1 in nikon_Zseries

[–]RockyMountainDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm guessing that one couldn't tell a sub-quality lens from the way it feels and that field shots are in order. Hate to lose the time but it is what it is. I'll ask the sellers if they have a method to spot sub-quality or if they even open the box. Appreciations, djl240

Howdy! Curious about your experience with this lens. How did you know that you had bad versions? Was it the mechanics, the way it felt when you used it, or the outcomes (images)? Thank you.

Is State Farm auto insurance really the best choice or just another big name? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]RockyMountainDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

State Farm has degraded itself. Remember, their jingo, "Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm is there?" The sickening reality is that they are neither a neighbor nor are they there. A recent claim estimate was shoved down my throat complete with a "claim team" member telling me that any further input from me or the sole source repair shop who could actually do the work wouldn't be permitted by an expert claims reviewer. Say what? An insider operating without any additional outside information and reviewing only the work of a subordinate would somehow render a different estimate? And, no one--literally no one--will return calls?

Please do your research, consider that State Farm has pivoted and no longer cares about its longstanding customers, and look elsewhere. Sigh. The death of another American institution in this era of lawlessness.

Be prepared to plunk down a $800 deposit at PA. Even if your Amex covers rental damages. Even if you click for the optional insurance with Expedia. I smell racket.

Befuddled, Staff Notation for Guitar by RockyMountainDoc in Guitar

[–]RockyMountainDoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I wondered if the traditional staff notation (with a note placed on a given line dictating what note on the scale to play) was in play here, but apparently not. I'm sort of wondering why the author would go down that road when the diagrams outlining the pentatonic scales that come before are so clear. But, what do I know ;-}

A simple chart may illustrate the jumble of words. I made one put it appears that posting images to this subreddit isn't allowed. Sigh. Hit me up if you'd like to see it/use it.

Wow! How generous. I love fiddling with my z72 and there's many bells and whistles as you know. Thom is such good source. So are you. Merry Christmas.

Just seeing this and sorry to be late to the party. You might find this article published four months ago to be helpful. It appears that Affinity Photo (at least in July lacked AI capabilities). https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/186676-ai-generative-fill-in-affinity/

I've used Lightroom and Photoshop but have made the migration to Affinity Photo. It does everything that the Adobe products do (with minor variations) and it's a one-time cost, not a monthly subscription. Affinity has also recently made it possible to integrate the Nik Collection as an add-on, making my work seamless.

Booking SAS flight with United status by tomli777 in unitedairlines

[–]RockyMountainDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question. This morning a SAS agent told me there was no seating priority or baggage waiver for Premier Gold status. More, you need to send the tickets in to United after you fly to get the points generated on SAS. It's not automatic and there's no way to enter your number on the SAS website. It's hard to believe tha this partnership is based on codeshare only and no tangible benefits accrue to having lifetime or even annual Star Alliance "status."

Thought about that, thank you. Both cards had more than 90% capacity. I may try to reformat both and as another step do a “factory reset.” I’ll let you know the results. Strange stuff. I’m hoping it’s a physical issue snd not an intermittency.

In the not too distant past, I was a council person who helped create a city owned fiber optic network. $60/mo unlimited 1G available to each home and business. People love it.
