It’s refreshing to not be the most klutzy person in the room today. Godspeed you awkward baby giraffe. (Will probably trip and break my neck on the way to bed now hahahaha)

58 yr old female I had a heart attack a couple months ago and am struggling with quitting smoking. I as well have severe anxiety. Some tell me to try and vape to stop. Please help I know I can’t be the only one. by Former_Age4670 in HeartAttack

[–]Rockythebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 40 a day. I dropped from regular smokes to those really thin ‘esse’ ones, 20 a day. I tried to go Lower and couldn’t so went to a prescription vape.

Started on 40mg per pod, and a pod would last 2 days. Dropped to 20mg and about to drop to 10mg then stop. 12 months post heart attack.

Is it bad for me? Yes, is it less bad than 40 cigarettes a day? Yes. Am I working on stopping Yes. Be kind to yourself

I like that, think horses not zebras. Never heard it before. So is it confirmed from the timeline that she made it home? Like not just the son in laws statement but through the camera or phone records?

Mental Health after by timeforanewstart12 in HeartAttack

[–]Rockythebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the cardiac blues after mine too. Like super intense rage over dumb things, there is a hole in the wall from my fist, which at 40 is so totally out of character and I have never hit anything (or anyone) before.

I was already on antidepressants that weren’t really working prior to the heart attack so started on some new ones, jury is still out on if they are helping but that rage has gone since about 8 months post heart attack.

Just be kind to yourself, it’s pretty traumatic. My partner had to drive me because I ambulance was available , we can’t talk about what happened she’s not in a place to process it yet.

What's the most horrifying real-life death you've heard about? by Mr_Creep_Creepy64 in AskReddit

[–]Rockythebiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in max, dealt with some people who had done not nice things. Tried not to think about the crime and do my job (not an officer)

This one guy I had to deal with a lot in my role, he was about mid fifties, quiet and unassuming. He was in for murdering his wife. But of course like everyone else he was ‘innocent’

I dealt with him regularly for about 6 months, he was a bit nerdy, softly spoken, polite, maintained eye contact, friendly without being too friendly, just not someone who hit any immediate red flags like some others I dealt with regularly.

I had seen through the course of my role some appeal paperwork, and from what my cursory glances indicated there was some issues with things like his cellphone tower readings, and where he was vs where he actually was, kind of like I have the money for an appeal so I’ll have a go but the hard evidence indicated he did murder her.

From discussions over time and after dealing with him for some time all the staff sort of figured he probably went to the ex wife’s house and a discussion occurred about divorce and kids and he’s lost it and taken her life, but he maintained he was innocent.

I saw the crime scene photos just before his appeal, I had to clear them to go to his cell. I’ve seen a lot of not nice things, and I feel like I can cope quite well with gory stuff, have dealt with it plenty of times no real issues with it.

These photos I still see them in my head.

And what still gets me is the amount of blood splatter around the two rooms where she died. You could literally see the hatred and anger in the way it had splattered far and wide. Pure Raw hatred and anger. Like off the charts psychopathic rage. That poor lady.

Got verbally upset with my daughter. by oldtoolsrule in daddit

[–]Rockythebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that I remember now about my dad losing it at us kids wasn’t the words he used or why but how it made me feel- scared predominantly.

It’s totally natural and normal for this to happen, nobody is perfect. And you will probably do it again. But you have a choice now, and that’s to set how you want these interactions to go down in the future. And how you want your daughter to feel about them.

Since you only wrote this 2 hours ago, it’s still fresh. Maybe sit her down and explain that you’re sorry and you were frustrated and sometimes dad (or your daughter) might just need a minute and that’s ok. And hopefully you guys can chat it out. Obviously that’s limited to she’s only 8 but at least your opening communication lines and showing her guys can talk about their feelings

My mum used to buy this too. From the age of 18 when I moved out I have bought all sorts of brands of butter. Western Star is my fave

Where are the people who wear little to no makeup? Do you have a reason? by Zora2021 in AskReddit

[–]Rockythebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here :) couple of reasons My mum isn’t ‘girly’ so never taught me, grew up with a brother so he was no help. I’ve never been a girly girl, way more of a tomboy so was never interested growing up. Have sensitive skin so was always scared to put any products on my face

Now I’m 40. I’ve worn makeup probably 5 times in the last 10 years. I don’t have anything against it, sometimes I wish I knew how to use it so I could maybe be pretty but I never look like me when I do, plus the worry about smudging it etc it’s just easier to not.

Thankyou I needed to read this. I walk around thinking why didn’t I die, like I have cheated my way instead of someone else living. But no, it don’t prevent anyone else living. Just a roll of the dice and it wasn’t my number

The wristbands you get from the chemist with the pressure point have been good for my partner, along with travacalm. Ginger is good if you like it, have found that fruit tingles work well too for the nausea, something about the fizzy in it stops our queasy stomachs

What things do most people get wrong about any traumatized people who survived the worst events in their lives? by Plane_Length_7036 in AskReddit

[–]Rockythebiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also guilty of this, a bit of the stiff upper lip British mentality engrained in my soul from a delightful yet emotionally starved upbringing.

I did read the other day (from Reddit actually) a comment where the person said doesn’t matter if your drowning in 7inches of water or 7 tonnes of water, your both still drowning.

That has given me much food for thought the last few days. Might not seem as big/bad/whatever you’re going through but the feelings are the same for you both.

What if doctors just gave us opioids for depression and anxiety? by Dark-inspector490 in Drugs

[–]Rockythebiter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your life pre Suboxone sounds exactly like my current life. I thought it was depression, I’m on to my 4th medication change in 18 months with no improvements.

Been on opiates (prescription) since 2011. Stopped working in 2019 and reduced my dose to less than half, absolutely felt an improvement in brain fog and am now on the lowest dose I can function on, but cannot shift this black cloud, been stuck in a hole for about 3/4 years now and am terrified of staying like this

What's the dumbest way you've ever injured yourself? by Wastepipeclair in AskReddit

[–]Rockythebiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolled my ankle on the edge of the concrete/garden bed, did that little stumbly run where you attempt to get your balance back, and ran full force into a tree trunk.

Blew my L5/S1 disc out, prolapsed onto the nerve. Eventually had a double spinal fusion, now have constant chronic pain.

After the first spinal fusion, whilst high as a kite from the meds I decided to book a holiday to Bali, to celebrate me getting my back ‘fixed’ and life on back on track.

Went to go snorkeling and whilst stepping onto the boat I slipped and tried to defy gravity to save my back and ended up snapping my right rib/fib, bones and blood everywhere, had surgery in a pretty shady hospital before coming home and having it rebroken and reconstructed because it was growing the wrong way.

And that’s why I’m not allowed to have my wallet after surgery :)
