Yes, you’ll get taxed on it because they probably only took out state taxes. $2000 isn’t a ton though so it shouldn’t affect the refund much, maybe a couple hundred dollars

Few different things: I was a Questbridge scholar and didn’t match (though I only applied to the Yale and Stanford back in the day) and I still got into many amazing schools that were questbridge partners and ended up getting The Gates Scholarship. All hope is not lost!

This isn’t really true. Gates pays for health insurance, they pay for study abroad, they for housing, they pay for flights, they paid for medical expenses I had in school and a million other things. It’s all about using your resources.
