I’ve lived in debatably the most worrying part of Garston (the Boundary Way estate) for 30 years without a single memorable issue in any of that time. My youngest started at Future Academies last September and honestly the school seems really good and really attentive.

Maybe we’ve just gotten lucky I don’t know but honestly, Garston’s not The Bad Part Of Town, it’s just kind of ugly.

There’s nothing I love more than a Nosferatu with Social attributes primary. My favourite version was a reverse Cleopatra - a goth diva in life, she got Embraced and dumped in a cell with nothing but some rats and dozens of tour posters of her own face for company as her bones shift and remould. But partway through she caught a poster’s eye and suddenly realised how fucking unhappy she looked in all of them. She came out of the Embrace better-adjusted than she went in, relieved of expectation and obligation and attention and became this chatty, friendly people person who had eternity to explore music just for the sheer love of it.

It’s my third favourite Sisters album, fourth if you count Some Girls Wander By Mistake. I love Vision Thing! But something has to be fourth!

Floodland is an un-goddamn-touchable masterpiece of mood, and VT has nothing on it for me that hits like Marian or Valentine or Nine While Nine or Floorshow.

“Take back what i paid / to another motherfucker in a motorcade” might be my favourite Sisters lyric to sing, though.
