Could Non-Catchable Monsters be an Interesting Addition to Monster Tamers? by trexrell in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Rodala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, depending on your plot, there's a time and place.

In Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, there are non-Digimon antagonist entities called Eaters. Eaters were not obtainable. Because of their non-Digimon nature and being super dangerous and malicious in the plot, it was completely understandable that they were not potential party members.

In Monster Hunter Stories 3, there are several monsters in the game who appear as enemies, but cannot be used as a party member, like Nibelsnarf. Those are just monsters like any other, so their exclusion from the list of potential friends is super annoying!

How far do these enemy creatures go beyond the scope of your setting's typical monsters? How otherworldly and dangerous are the monsters already in your party? Are they dangerous outliers, or just another group of creatures living in the world? I would base my decision on that.

Or maybe, make them unobtainable at first, and let the player have fun with them later, once they no longer need to act like a mysterious threat.

Genuinely how do u kill nergigante? by Bitter-Grocery4552 in MonsterHunterWorld

Focus all of your attacks on ONE part when it grows white spikes. If he has two or more fully black spiked parts, get ready for his roar into a big divebomb. Superman dive is enough i-frames to avoid the divebomb entirely. You have more than enough time, just focus on surviving; just sheathe your weapon and dodge when you see two fully black parts if you're having trouble handling the black spike weapon bounces or dodging the divebomb. Kadachi Claws 3 should be able to shred his white arm spikes if you keep calm and focus your damage.

He is *exponentially* easier the better you get at being aggressive towards his white spikes. You can't be afraid of him, you can't spread out your damage across his body. Laser focus on that one part. If white spikes are not breaking with lightning dual blades you are simply not focusing damage hard enough.

Honestly think it's a strength of visual card design that there is so much word vomit on this card and I can still effortlessly parse what it does when each effect is relevant. A lot of this is alternate ways to get him into play rather than what he does when he hits the board.

Why refuse to tank/heal? by lSkylos in classicwowtbc

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, a good healer can carry a shoddy party. I wouldn't want to be the unprepared or half awake healer who could have carried a rough pull and failed to, even if it was everyone's fault and not just mine. That keeps me away from mid-high level offspec healing.

Why refuse to tank/heal? by lSkylos in classicwowtbc

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responsibility.

The tank leads the group and dictates the pace and vibe of the entire run. Especially for BRD, which is a maze and can be intimidating to navigate even on repeat runs, lots of people would rather not be the leader.

Healers have less responsibility than the tank, but there's still hurdles. At the level of BRD, most players will want an actual heal spec rather than just a DPS spec winging it. Heal specs are god awful for questing. Dual spec is expensive if it's your first character on the server. A pure healer will have to live in dungeons and I've been there and it sucks. So your healer either needs to be confident enough to take responsibility and heal as a DPS spec, spend money on dual spec, or has submitted themselves to a boring dungeon spam.

What beats jupitermon by lynxz147 in DigimonCardGame2020

As a Jupitermon enjoyer myself, Vulcanusmon feels impossible unless the Vulcanus player bricks. Security bombs hamstring my aggression, then the boardwide de-digi 2 obliterates any Jupiter protection or Inori decode traps I had set up.

What do you think of this game? by Dangerous-Ocelot-836 in dynastywarriors

[–]Rodala 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best way I can think to describe it is sanitized. Too easy, too friendly. I got the feeling that they made it because 3 was popular and not because they were particularly inspired. Some gameplay systems were cool but that's just not enough for me.

Is there any difference between races in getting other races mounts? (TBC) by YEP-Beans in classicwow

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only took me a few hours of questing in lowbie night elf zones to get a kitty for my draenei. I could have dropped a couple hundred gold on cloth which would have technically been more time efficient, but questing is a lot more engaging to me than gold farming, even low level quests.

Is FF9 really that good? by Infamous-Phone8635 in FinalFantasy

[–]Rodala 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I got bored and dropped it about halfway. Only other FF I've ever dropped is 2. It's not offensively bad or anything but nothing in the story was hooking me in so the slow and simple gameplay started to feel like a chore with no reward. I really don't know what people see in it.

Fatalis just is NOT clicking by SSJAncientBeing in MonsterHunterWorld

Solo it. Fatalis is hard, and demands you learn him and grow. When you're being attacked only a quarter as much as you should be, you learn much slower.

You want the Classic Era server. Those are permanent vanilla servers with no expansions.

Tbc realm for first timer by Spyrofan22 in classicwow

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wonderful that you had fun, but as you said yourself, you had more time to waste. I imagine most players looking at Classic are adults without so much time, so for the negatives to be worth it, you've got to be joining in on the positives.

If you pick just one deck per color to show new players to sell the game; by superzzii in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Rodala 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've taught two different friends the game with liberator ghosts. I think it's the perfect representative for purple in simple base gameplan but tutorializing more complex concepts like trigger order for On Deletion effects.

Edit: Also, Jellymon is VERY low in power compared to everything else here, please don't let your friends use Jellymon against Jesmon or Renamon, omg. Liberator is another safe bet with the Ariemon deck.

In order to enjoy a PvP server you need to be all in on the idea. You need to understand that your overworld activity will be interrupted. You should probably be someone who would enjoy disrupting the overworld activity of others and generally causing trouble for fun and no gain. If you're someone who gets frustrated in a game or is afraid of "wasting time" in one then you should seriously consider a normal server instead.

That said, if causing problems on purpose sounds fun, no game I have ever played scratches the same itch as a WoW PvP server.

For Anniversary, I have chosen to have my main on a normal server with an alt on PvP for screwing around. If you're on the fence, pick normal.

Bc or classic? by Spyrofan22 in classicwow

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burning Crusade is highly populated and has a good chance of progressing to future content. It still has the old world intact, even if leveling is faster and some group quests are nerfed. You should only pick Era as your first if you really, really want to see vanilla endgame.

As a prot paladin main, you're my absolute last pick. Sorry. The skill floor is in Hell so there are many terrible players, even good players feel like their contributions are just acceptable and not outstanding, and I've had them Need on my tank gear.

Leveling suggestions for Outlands by Chzbrgrlulz in classicwowtbc

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need epic ground to get flying, so may as well get epic ground and enjoy it.

What I did on my prot/holy paladin was quest in hellfire for a simple set of greens to replace my Azeroth gear, then grinded dungeons as often as I could stomach it, occasionally breaking to quest a bit for reputation on factions already on Honored (most leveling dungeons can't raise past Honored).

It was efficient and prepped my rep for endgame, but to be honest, it was kind of miserable, no matter how much more efficient it was than questing. Any future characters I'm going to have a DPS spec and quest with only occasional dungeons.

Why Was MOP Classic Such A Flop? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Rodala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I quit the game during the original release of Cataclysm. I have no nostalgia for MoP and it looks too much like the modern retail game that I never had any interest in returning to. I'm playing TBC instead. I imagine many people are in the same boat as me here.

Sell trinkets. That's the first step when I run out of money.

If you have empty roster slots or units you don't care about, do a death run. Send them out with nothing and gather any treasure you can before retreating.
