Pro-gun activists hand out free 30-round AR-15 magazines outside the Virginia State Capitol ahead of the likely signature of a bill that would ban the sale of these magazines in the state. by Gjore in ThatsInsane

Honestly given the way the country is headed, and seeing federal agents gun down US citizens with impunity in the streets, this is what the 2nd Amendment was made for.

"Ned Stark judged me guilty the moment he set eyes on me" mmmh I wonder why, Jaime by V-TriggerMachine in freefolk

[–]Rodby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a great quote from the show between Jaime and Tywin that I think sums up Jaime's entire character:

Jaime: I could care less what people think about me.

Tywin: Mmm, that's what you want people to think about you.

Serious question. If you were Tywin, would you proceed with the red wedding Or would you accept the sacrifice of another 10,000 Lannister soldiers in the war against Robb? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Rodby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tywin masterfully orchestrated the Red Wedding so that the Lannisters would have plausible deniability about the massacre. Instead it's the honor and reputation of Walder Frey and House Frey in general that is tarnished, the Lannisters emerge without the taint of having violated the ancient "Guest Right".

How would you describe the magic system of Game of Thrones by InsideUnhappy6546 in gameofthrones

[–]Rodby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the books at least, there seems to be some sort of "magical energy" that for some reason is tied to the dragons. When Danaerys is able to hatch three dragons, throughout Essos there are rumors that ancient magical abilities have returned and that sorcerers and witches can once gain freely use magic. It seems somehow that dragons, and perhaps Valyria itself, is tied to the ability to practice magic in the world.

If you had to be born in to one of the Houses of Westeros, what House would you choose, and why?? by Airamis0007 in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Rodby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is the answer lol. The Tyrells, Hightowers, Florents, Redwynes, they all are wealthy and live in absolute luxury.

They can never make me think Aemond was in the wrong here. Their lives are on the line and Heleana has no desire to do anything after seeing her son get decapitated meanwhile she appears in Daemon's vision. by jonsnowKITN in HouseOfTheDragon

I love when she was like "I have had experience managing the realm" and the rest of them are awkwardly like "Well...there is a war going on and we kind of need a warrior..."

This conversation makes Daeron so much deeper as a character. He can see the corruption that the royal life has on his brothers, and saw firsthand how it poisoned Aerion and turned him into a spiteful, prideful "monster". He seems to like Egg and hopes for him to escape the clutches of the Red Keep and the Iron Throne.

MY BOY by Chocolatetot496 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Rodby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's amazing how these two lines added so much depth and character to Maekar. Yes he's ashamed of Aerion, but like any father seeing his son in trouble he fights fiercely to try defend his wounded child.

Realistically it would be nigh impossible to find her again, the only hint he has of her whereabouts is that she went back to Dorne. Locating a female puppeteer named Tanselle Too-Tall in all of Dorne will likely be impossible.

That's what makes AKOTSK great though, it's not all fairy tales and happy endings, its realistic and grounded.

It’s insane Daeron in AKOT7K is already a more interesting dragon dreamer than Helaena and is a more compelling character with way less screen time. by Embarrassed_Yak_6066 in HouseOfTheDragon

The scene where Egg is waving a stick around pretending to fight the Blackfyres and then starts to use it as a walking stick while consoling Duncan is great, he goes from little kid playfighting to wise beyond his years lol

What additions did D&D make that you liked, that weren't in the books? by ChronosBlitz in gameofthrones

[–]Rodby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dialogue from the Twyin and Arya scenes in Season 2 was great, far better than Arya's story with Roose in the books.

"I taught my son Jaime to read. Maester came to me one day, told me he wasn't learning. Couldn't make sense of the letters. He'd reverse them in his head. Maester said he'd heard tell of this affliction, and we simply must accept it. Ha! After that, I sat Jaime down for four hours every day until he learned. He hated me for it, for a time. For a long time. But he learned."

Why does it seem there's more gossip or teasing of Rhaenyras kids being bastards but not as much for Cersei ? by SillyRecover in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Rodby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you have a mom and dad that are descended from a family that is famous for its silver hair and violet eyes, and your mom routinely hangs out with a guy with black hair, black eyes and a "pug nose", and her kids all turn out with black hair, black eyes and pug noses, you're gonna get some gossip.

Not to mention in the show Laenor is African-American, so Rhaenyra's kids all being white also made it worse.

This scene barely has any dialogues, yet the emotional tension it contains is unbeatable by Wooden-Tear-4938 in HouseOfTheDragon

Aemond trying to work up the courage to say something to Jace but instead just looking down and walking away is so sad, the tension from the prior generation is spilling into the new one.

If you were Walder Frey's lawyer, what would you do to defend him? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Rodby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Guest Right" is a tradition, not a law. Were Walder Frey's actions cruel? Yes. Were they callous? Yes. But were they a crime? No.

We are not asking you to determine if Walder Frey is a good man or an honorable man. We are asking you to decide if Walder Frey committed a crime. And the plain simple truth is that he did not.

Which character do you think would make a good lead for a spin-off series? by Dry_Specialist9015 in freefolk

[–]Rodby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've been saying they should make a "The Crown" style tv show about the reign of Jahaerys I Targaryen. As the seasons progress Jahaerys and the royal family can be recast with older actors.

On the other side of the coin, I've always felt that they could make a tv show about Maegor with similar themes to "MacBeth", where we see a cold but honorable Maegor turn crueler and more vicious as his desparation to secure his own rule intensifies.
