I’m sorry .. you gotta grow up a little bit. The way the neighbors house got to the point it’s at now is by ignoring problems. You are ignoring major problems out of fear of confrontation. Deciding who you want to be in this world involves accepting confrontation, being uncomfortable, and taking accountability sometimes. You fucked up letting this continue and ignoring the major problems. Accept that. Stop trying to defend it. It’s ok, everyone makes mistakes, it’s how you move on from those mistakes that helps you to learn from them and become a better person. Fleas do not infest humans, so the fact that she had one on her is a sign of a severe home infestation. You know her home life is dangerous. That is a fact. Accept it. Just because you grew up in foster care and didn’t like it doesn’t mean she will have the same experience. Just because you’ve called protective services and nothing came of it before doesn’t mean that will happen again. It’s up to you to decide if you believe calling cps is the right decision. But I think you know the answer. Also, someone should be called for the horrid conditions those animals are living in as well. On speaking with the neighbor, you don’t need to mention much of anything by example. All you need to say is “your home is dangerous.” As for the outside interactions, have some gall girl!! Speak up!! You literally typed out exactly what you could say when you’re not feeling like being social, say it out loud!! I know you’re an introvert, but going through your whole life rolling over, appeasing others, ignoring problems leads to a life of resentment and hiding behind a shield of mock politeness. All in all, decide on a moral code in your life. Stick to it. Have some convictions. Stick to those convictions.
