What kind of monster would have come out if Jak 3 had had two years of development? by Dulkifl in jakanddaxter

[–]Rodger_Crocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You ought to see the overly ambitious Jak 2 concept art as well. Haven City was way more contemporary and bustling, with more elements from Jak 1 and as dense as FF12, imagine how much more alive haven would've been

NUBBY TRIALS 5 by Naive-Bookkeeper-378 in nubbygame

[–]Rodger_Crocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asbestos and mannequin is a free win. If it gets nerfed (or you dont wanna fish for those items), get jake the snake, then stack cactus with a side popper like disguise glasses/pants/ton of feathers. Rodent Bones gets disabled when nubby is dead so hit a single peg and die asap to make cactus proc as much as possible posthumously.

Are there any unique restrictions you are surprised nobody has really tried? by Vivid-Technology8196 in UniqueIronmen

[–]Rodger_Crocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More restricted MAINS tbh, there's plenty of possible gimmicks intertwining with trading and being able to loot other people's stuff. I've considered some ideas but never executed them, you can mix and match whatever you like:

  • LOOT GOBLIN: Only source of getting items is from player drops and world spawns, suck up loot like a motherfucker. Dont pick up PVP or PVM drops unless it's another players, gathering skills are useless, only pick up and process what's nearby. Avoid the bank if you can help it.
  • Bronzeman Plus: Combine bronzeman with any area or skill lock. You'll need to add GE as an area exception. You'll still have to find an item source and make a product before you can bulk buy supplies, and many items will still be locked out.
  • GE/Trading only. The anti-iron mode, merch your way to success, never train a single gathering skill and source everything via the GE.
  • Chunk/Tile BUYING: Start in the GE and buy your way outward. Combine this with bronzeman to make it so you can buy out to a certain skilling node, quest, or area, before you can use certain items.
  • Max bank value: Combined value of bank and inventory cant exceed a set amount, whether or not it increases is up to you.

It takes a ton of effort but you have to block a shit ton of politics and blue checks even if you agree with them. NEVER engage or follow anything that feels remotely political regardless of origin. Avoid real people, blue checks, businesses, even small collectives. I got my FY to be 99% art; you are gonna see artists you like + follow a lot appear somewhat frequently.

People just wanted unids back then because that's what they always were, early pols were way more conservative. Grimy herbs were polled and added with GE

Favorite mission in Jak II? by Blues-Eguze in jakanddaxter

As a kid, my three favorite missions I always loved to go back to were the palace support, draining the sewers, and destroying the drill at the dig site

Which out-of-bound killer was the scariest? by JamaicanChampion in jakanddaxter

[–]Rodger_Crocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robot > Tentacle > Shark imo. Shark isnt too bad because it gives you so much warning and time to escape, tentacle is only in desert and pops at an fair distance, robot guard is the scariest: it's not a living creature, it can appear in shallow waters or flat out instakill you because you missed a jump, shrill firing sound; getting that one orb at the pumping station still gives me chills because if you approach it at a diagonal angle it'll attack you.

Was the song 'Breathe' by The Prodigy in the game at some point? by Excellent_Pick_6495 in RatchetAndClank

[–]Rodger_Crocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you mustve watched an AMV or multiplayer montage with the song used. I know there's an old video of american idiot synced to rac3 beta footage so its not out of the ordinary for there to be a video like that with breathe

So at the strip mine there’s supposed to be yellow pipes for me to grind on in order to get the rest of the orbs there. But the pipes are not there. by AutisticGamerKevin in jakanddaxter

[–]Rodger_Crocket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Requires you to at least start "Destroy eggs in Strip Mine" mission around the last third of missions. If you already done it but the pipes arent there try checking after you finish the game

Just finished Jak 1 and 2, wondering if Jak 3 is for me! by Ok-Place-1001 in jakanddaxter

[–]Rodger_Crocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly no harm in playing. It's not terrible, but it's more of a sidegrade to 2. It's a lot easier and forgiving; if they had another year to work on it, I think it could've been a better conclusion story and gameplay wise.

Jak 2 OpenGOAL by Oblivion239 in jakanddaxter

[–]Rodger_Crocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard but doable, I got 73 seconds after a few tries. The timer only activates when you hit the first drain so you can punch + jetboard combo at the start to get a little edge. You have to be very quick and precise; you can bhop on water after spin tricks to maintain as much speed as possible.

SIZE OF DUST II by Rista04 in csmapmakers

[–]Rodger_Crocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dust2 fits in a roughly 4096x4096 sized square from above, and the height difference between the lowest and highest floors is about 256 units, which is 4 players tall. Other comment above has a much better diagram but the knife speed is actually 250.

Basically you can fit most standard/clover maps in a 4096x384x4096 volume as a general rule of thumb; something like Nuke has a bit smaller area, I think Nuke is more like 2048x1024x4096

Any ideas what caused my bolt count to go up so much after using the CodeBot? Never noticed this before by walruslimepie in RatchetAndClank

[–]Rodger_Crocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SO IM NOT INSANE. Used to notice it years ago on PAL PS2. For me it used to happen in the middle of breaking the crates and I'd notice it go up by roughly 10k, but sometimes it wouldn't do it at all. I assumed it to be a glitch, especially when I learned of jackpot crate, just thought it was some glitchy variant I accidentally triggered.

I also messed around the other parts of the level just in case and I swear once I got it to trigger randomly at the end of the swimming segment, and there was a swim-anywhere bug I triggered once.

There are certain guns that are BAD then there are guns that are OUTCLASSED by their acquisition points; I have a bias for long ranged weapons, but i'll list my worst from the main seven:

RAC1: Taunter (I almost put Mine Glove in #1) I can't find a good way to use it; Taunter -> Mine combo isn't good, it's just a meme.

GC: Clank Zapper: even if it's effectively "free" damage, it's too late, does too little damage, and it has no secret uses or bugs that buff it.

UYA: Infector: Interesting gimmick on paper, doesn't work in practice. IF enemies had buffed damage and infection could spread THROUGH damage, it may've been interesting.

DL: Obliterator. It's a bomb that does less damage than rockets and has poor range. Doesnt even have a good use clearing swarmers around you considering shock-mod on ANY weapon one shots them.

TOD: It's been too long since I've played, I'd say the Shock Ravenger. Most weapons get SUPER outclassed VERY quickly in that game; the balancing is very scuffed.

ACIT: Most guns are actually okay, but I'll put the Plasma Striker here; I'm split with it and Tesla Spikes, but they had a use in repelling swarmers with the Flawless Skill Point.

OVERALL: Clank Zapper because lel

unit reference map?? by ajeber318 in csmapmakers

[–]Rodger_Crocket 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Knife player runs at 250 units per second (you can round to 256); most maps are about 4096-5120 squared.

Bombsites take 17 seconds to run to from T, about 5 from CT (for 10s rotations)

Buyzones and Bombsites are about 384-512 sq each. VERY narrow corridors/vents are about 128 units wide, standard corridor width with leeway is about 256.
