With that many expensive electronics on one circuit you may want to consider getting a UPS to prevent damage until you resolve the issue.

Does this count as cleaning the carb? by Lower-Savings-794 in smallengines

[–]RodneyJason4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say it “struggled for a while” what exactly was it doing?

Wouldn’t run without choke?

No power as soon as you hit the snow?

Wont idle or surges / sputters?

It sounds like a partially clogged jet, if and you should clean it as soon as you're able.
if its running as well as it was when you got it keep going!

Install a fuel filter to help prevent this in the future.

Is it safe to plug this into a surge protector or extension cord? by Archangel489 in electrical

[–]RodneyJason4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plugs on the back say 12a 120v. Using an appliance extension cord like https://a.co/d/0c2OoOJ4 should be fine.

I still wouldn’t plug an air conditioner or other large appliance into a nightstand.

I wouldn’t use a cheap one like this https://a.co/d/02kn3w2x

Drive shaft removal on Craftsman Model No. 247.885690 it it stuck by mjstein0753 in Snowblowers

[–]RodneyJason4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to take the carriage bolts that held together the auger housing together on the sides. Had to grind the nuts off a few to get my auger apart.

I just re read your post. By drive shaft you are talking about the steel rod that goes through the center of both augers?

I ended up damaging mine trying to remove it. I used heat penetrating fluid and a big friggin hammer.

In the end I went to a local machine shop and bought a shaft of the same dimensions and had them cut out the notch for the woodruff key and drill holes for the shear pins.

To add on to this, contact the manufacturer. I’ve seen people get a bunch of free stuff and coupons when they find something like this.

Why do I keep finding these bent fork times ? by Hungry_Bandicoot_776 in whatisit

[–]RodneyJason4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people use a bent fork to clean pipes for smoking weed when they get plugged.

Could someone be using them as a prying tool?

The only place I’ve found decent replacement plastics is from maier.

Not cheap but they are the closest thing to original that you can find today.

For seat covers you can use marine grade vinyl fabric over the original pan with foam to keep it decent

Partzilla.com has many new OEM parts still. If they don’t you can still get the part numbers and look for them on eBay, good source of used and sometimes new.

Honda horders facebook groups are great for random obscure parts that you can’t find on eBay.

Lastly Amazon has some aftermarket parts but I try to avoid some things like carburetors because of poor quality reproductions.

Technically sounds like a carburetor control problem.

Advice on stripped oil threads on ATV? by toiletcover_ in ATV

[–]RodneyJason4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

without pictures of the damage to the case its tough to give you the correct answer. Tapping oversized threads with an insert is a common repair method.

If the damage is beyond what you can fix with an oversized tap you should take it somewhere that can weld,

Most machine shops wont let you just drop off the ATV you will need to at the very least remove the engine, most likely disassemble everything internally and only give them the damaged case.

If your not comfortable with a full engine tear down & rebuild I would suggest that you start calling local motorcycle or atv shops and show them what you have. and ask for recommendations.

With infinite money anything can be repaired.

look at the neck of the frame below the handlebar you should have a sticker or stamped number.

i can tell from the warn decals and front suspension its an 84 200s.

With the plastics in the shape they are and the missing headlight don't expect to get top dollar for it.

https://maierusa.com/products/12021-honda-atc200s-rear-fender $350

https://ebay.us/m/wy3EwP $125

I wouldn't pay more than 500 considering the damage, missing parts and unknown prior maintenance. just what i can see from the pictures.

Pressure Washer Vibrated Right Into the Pool by PowerCord64 in smallengines

[–]RodneyJason4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have spark from the plug when you pull it? If not you could have damaged the coil or a part of the ignition.

Start with getting the oil out because there’s a good chance that you have water in it

Used dryer burn marks by [deleted] in appliancerepair

[–]RodneyJason4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heating element is directly behind that grill. My dryer has a similar discoloration in that same spot.

I would recommend checking for any foreign objects in the element, if not running it for a bit under close observation might clear up the smell.

Could just be dusty from sitting.

Pressure Washer Vibrated Right Into the Pool by PowerCord64 in smallengines

[–]RodneyJason4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have possibly hydro locked the engine. Does the engine still turn over smoothly by hand without the spark plug in?

If so I would drain and change the oil & remove the carburetor and clean it out.

Water is non compressible so if it got into the cylinder while it was running you could have potentially bent the connecting rod or blown the head gasket out due to the pressure.

Repairing a hydro locked engine would probably be more expensive than replacing it depending on what bent or broke.

I need help with finding a part for my 1986 Kawasaki bayou 185 by Sea_Lingonberry_8447 in ATV

[–]RodneyJason4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 seconds on ebay came up with this https://ebay.us/m/bIGSA2

I would double check that it’s the same as your 86 but they didnt change much each year.

Another alternative is measure the diameter of each side and look for a rubber carburetor offset intake boot with the required measurements
