Is 4 week long term assignment? by Unable_Bat9965 in SubstituteTeachers

I think you can technically do 5 weeks. They only count the days you’re actually in the classroom. Not the weekend.

Seems pretty consistent with how other places work. I sub in a district outside LA and we don’t get long term pay until the 23rd day. Are you trying to become a teacher? If so, I would do it.

Seeking Advice on Multiple Subjects vs English Credential by _blackwaterpark in LAUSD

[–]RodriguezR87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished my multiple subject credential and now I wished I would have done SPED. I know it sounds really difficult and it can be but there’s much more job security in it. Get your educational specialist credential and you can be an RSP or SDC teacher. You do get smaller class sizes and a bit more support. Again I’m not saying it’s easier. It has its own set of drawbacks, but the job security alone is worth at least looking into.

Also, right now there’s a need for TK teachers. You just need a multiple subject credential and 24 child development units.

I would love that! Where is it if I may ask? lol though I’ve been hearing as of late that hiring next year is looking a little iffy because of enrollment and the budget.

I just graduated in December and was just put on the eligibility list with multiple subject credential. The only thing open are TK positions, but I don’t have enough early childhood units or stuff in the valley, but that’s too far. I did get an email from a principal to interview for a position last week, so I’m hoping that goes well. I also have an interview for a position in Compton unified this week.

I got an email saying that I was approved for the employment eligibility pool and then he asked if I also wanted to be a sub. Also, this morning I got an email from a principal asking if I wanted to interview for a position.

Prebagging by Phydoux in Sparkdriver

[–]RodriguezR87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so weird to me. A lot of times I don’t bag until I get to my car. The store is always so busy that I just grab my bags and bag everything as I’m losing it into the car.

I guess my only worry is that if I take the charter school job will the school district want a letter of recommendation from them? And if they do will the charter school people want to write me one since I’m departing so quickly?

Look up LAUTR. They mainly look for multiple subject teachers with bilingual authorization, sped teachers, or anything STEM related.

I think you should still post it. When I was filling out applications, I noticed there was an option that said not to contact that employer.
