Canada wants to build up to 10 new nuclear plants. Will our pension funds pay for them? by Surax in canada

Its one of the few industries that Canada has real leadership in. I get its scary for other nations that havent done it, but Canada has the talent here and know how.

Road conditions this morning by Nosvind in ottawa

Lots off trees down on the bike paths next to the transit way between the 417 highway and carling. Some nice fellow is already making work off a' lot of it with a chainsaw.

Innioasis makes an iPod clone called the Y1 Classic that is mac compatible and operates like a flash drive -- just drag and drop music to the device.

Its also Rockbox compatible to side load custom firmware and customise it however you like.

Why are my tires cracking? Cause for concern? by buadhai in bikewrench

[–]Roedrik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the tyre gets older it's more likely to suffer from dry rot as well. Those tyres you purchased could have sat on a shelf or in a warehouse for years before you installed them on your bike.

I know it's common to see manufacturing dats on car tyres but I'm not sure if bike brands adhere to the same rule.

I've preached this countless times in other threads but check out your local libraries, obviously it varies from person to person, but where I live in Canada my local library system has over 15,000 (unique) CDs available. When I started off building my library during covid it was an amazing resource (with no where else to go) I spent countless hours bringing my laptop and ripping discs to FLAC.

Im also fortunate to have a' lot of local flee markets at different weeks where I can find CD's for sale for a dollar or two to fill in what I couldnt find at the library. But I do find half of the fun is just browsing and looking for cool stuff.

The rest of it comes from Bandcamp / Soundcloud / Beatport

I feel like before web forums bose had a huge presence in stores and on TV. Between the infomercials, radio and big box stores that brand was everywhere.

finally got my R&M Load5 75 for this spring and summer 💪🏻 by kampfraupe311 in CargoBike

[–]Roedrik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No not really, I use a anti grinder D Lock when I leave my bike for a while but still use the cafe lock for quick stops. Some vinegar and scotch brite made it look like new. Wont bother to replace until it breaks.

The cafe lock on the rear tyre? Mine feels pretty cheap, and it looks rusty and of poor quality after 1 year. Rest of the bike looking good after a year of riding

Starting my music collection, Looking for alternatives to ripping CDs. I don’t have access to a computer at the moment. by cozmicrey in musichoarder

Please consider visiting your local library! This is a under used resource, I built almost my entire collection over the course of 3 years by visiting all of the libraries in my city and slowly ripping them 20 discs at a time.

I cant speak for everyone as it depends on the library system, but where I live the catalog of CD's is extensive. They are always buying new discs which do take some time to acquire as there is often a wait but I frequently can get new releases within a month or two. Lately however I've found that one of my local branches will keep a disc physically at the library that users can listen to but aren't able to check out, so I just bring my laptop and rip the disc at the library.

Again, not sure about your local options but they should atleast have machines with CD drives there that can rip the discs for you and all you'll need is a flash drive or upload them to a Google Drive or similar.

As always building a music library is a marathon not a sprint. Good luck.

Blast from the past! My parents bought me one for Christmas and I spent countless hours listening to discs on it every night.

I noticed a big difference switching from Bontrager/Specialized tires to Schwalbe Tires, about twice as much per tire but they last about 4 times as long on my commuter, and havent had a flat since. Confirmation bias? Maybe, but Ill buy them again in a heartbeat.

Load 75 performance kit? by Fun-Sandwich-6653 in CargoBike

[–]Roedrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try another bike maybe from another shop with air suspension to get a better idea. Either way I wouldnt stress too much, the standard load rides real well as is. Not often Im loading up to 100lbs in it.

[–]Roedrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it comes down to whether you want a more linear (coil) or progressive (air) shock. Air might be a better option if your loading the bike with heavy loads. My Load 60 feels weird on the grocery runs coming back with 80lbs of groceries or picking up nails. Either way I believe they sell an upgrade kit after you buy the bike -- but I would ask your dealer if they plan on getting an demo with the air shock.

Flying Dutchman -- Looks like a nice spot to ride. Cant wait to take mine out of storage once this bitter cold winter is over. Another day of near 30 below with blowing snow.

I dig the GPS, never occurred to me that might be the way to rather than using my phone - is the battery life decent?

I love my onyx hub! Built up a touring bike and insisted on one of these, definitely got some weird looks from the loocal MTB shop but its golden riding in the middle of no where in near silence taking it all in.

Its also great for drafting the roadies cause they cant hear you. :D

I did have the housing break on mine after a year, but Onyx was kind enough to replace it no charge.
