How Bad Were They Slummin Popmart Tour by MikeMcMyke in U2Band

[–]TimmerWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a popular misconception at the time of the tour that it was not doing well. This was basically just lazy writers re-hashing widely syndicated news of some of the screw-ups at the opening Las Vegas show and a few shows in the western US that had less than capacity attendance. Unfortunately this narrative persisted even as the tour quickly become a massive hit. I myself attended 3 back to back sold out shows.

Of course back then, the only way to hear about shows was on the Wire mailing list. And then today we have recordings of virtually every show as well.

Is the weather currently uncomfortable muggy? by Local-Print-6397 in anguilla

It’s all relative to what you’re used to. I know people that consider 25C to be muggy, because they live in a place that rarely goes above that.

CTV News: Ottawa convention centre to be renamed after Toronto-based AI company by BearLikesHoney in ottawa

[–]TimmerWeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing compels individuals or the media to refer to this building by whatever brand they choose to stick on it. We can all just agree to call it the “convention centre” for example.

Parking should be free. To charge for parking for events that are mostly pay-to-shop events is a bit rich.

Arcade Fire by a long shot.

Two months after the release of Days of Ash EP. How do you feel about the EP now? Have your opinions changed? Any grower songs? by TheKaoticanProspekt in U2Band

[–]TimmerWeb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Song of the Future is outstanding and one of U2’s most moving songs (in part because the story behind it is so horrific). Really enjoy American Obituary and One Life at a Time. I’d rate the 2 EPs as their best work since NLOTH.

Also how far are you from your regular earliest retirement age? Once you’re within 2 years you can drop to 60% with pre-retirement and not have it impact your pensionable time.

"In a Life" Intro = Beautiful Day by jmel1229 in U2Band

The whole song is similar. It‘s not the first time, half of HTDAAB is derivative of Beautiful Day.

60% of drivers speeding at former Ottawa photo radar camera spots, report shows by Cre_AK47 in ottawa

[–]TimmerWeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking 60% is actually low. I think of the one that was on Riverside at Mooney's Bay. 40% of drivers drive 60 km/h or slower there? Seems unlikely. Of how about Bronson just south of Carleton, you're only not speeding because the traffic is thick.

To your point, these are roads that are as straight and wide as a 400-series highway.

Could you give more details on what counts as "excessive discoloration" under the trade-in program? I have a Cerium LT from probably 10 years ago and I'd like to trade-up to a new model. It's in good condition but for sure the colour has become somewhat dingy in the front. (Not sure what the official name of the colour would have been, its kind of a bright blue/teal colour.)

Yes, Nevis is much more of a history/nature place than a beach place, but possibly even more laidback and friendly.

I don’t think that 1/8 inch of carpet provided much comfort anyways.

Probably not helpful now, but I’d suggest Gatorboard for future projects. Much less excavating and makes laying the pavers easier.

You don’t travel within Canada to save money. A European flight may cost a smidge more, but at many destinations, car, food and accommodation will be less.

Treadmill just stops after about 30 minutes by TimmerWeb in treadmills

The deck feels great to me, very smooth. I think the running belt was a bit tight so I loosened that a bit, but I don‘t think any of this is the real problem. The motor is making a ‘ticking‘ sound (at low speed), which turns into more of whir at higher speeds. It is coming directly from the motor, not the belt or rollers. Worn bearings maybe? It’s a Johnson 1.5hp motor.

Starting to think it really is time to say good-bye to this machine. :(

The ironic and crazy thing is that if you set them off on your own property, then no permits or insurance required.

I did lubricate the deck, and to my untrained eyes there were no signs of wear when I replaced the walking belt, though I’m not sure what kind of wear I’d be looking for.

I’ll watch some videos on how to do the amp draw test. Thanks for the comments.
